Mark your dad was my mentor and just an outstanding man. I owe much of my success to his guidance back then. He was like a father and mine was gone. I have worked on that car in the 70s in Newport Beach. At the time you had a silver Alfa, I recall. He had many nice cars and he really liked the first 220se sedans and that 250 coupe too. There was a 220se we called the grey ghost, had 250k miles or so on it back then, nostalgic recollection. Nicest, hard working man and you have a great family. Nice to see you carry on the tradition.
Thank you for a wonderful story. Your father must have loved your mother n you a lot. He knew that the long trips in a beautiful car will become great memories for you all n he chose the best long distance runner, a Mercedes-Benz 😊

Such elegant timeless beauty. I have nothing but great memories of my 1970 250-C, 2-door hardtop Mercedes. It was an absolute pleasure to drive, it was very reliable, and it was also incredibly well designed for very quick and efficient servicing as well. :-)
its nice seeing such a vintage collection of cars built with so much finesse. My dad also had a 62 Benz 220se, black with red leather interior that he criss-crossed the country in , in Nigeria at that time. As a ten year old then,I really enjoyed riding in the front seat with his driver and dad in the backseat going around the country roads with the car handling the bumps and treacherous corners. Even as young as I was then, I wondered how the car was built so well and felt like we were riding on air when we went over pot-holes. The Mercedes of back then were built with utmost quality. Having grown up and owning several Mercedes since then, I can conclude that the newer cars are NOT Mercedes quality. Will I be right to say that back then Mercedes was making a name and now they are making some money ? The quality of the newer cars in nothing to write home about and I am hoping Daimler-Benz is rethinking . A lot of people that grew up in and with the older cars are losing interest in owning the newer cars
Red gullwing, that's the car I would have if I could only have one. When I was a kid I never thought they were so rare and expensive but I loved Gullwings anyway.
I have a 1990 190e 2.6. It has 274,005 miles on it. i replaced the voltage regulator, spark plugs, plug wires, and battery and now she's running like dream. if you haven't driven an older Mercedes you wouldn't know what i mean. 274,000 miles and still going strong
Magnificent car and very well summarised; "I'm not really a Fan of new cars, they all start to look the same to me". Here Ye! I was standing beside an Aston Martin AMV8 the other day and thought, what's all the fuss?! Give me a 73 911 ANY DAY.
fantastic story....quality never goes out of fashion.....wish Daimler had paid more attention to this lasting fact of life. It seems in the 90 going forward they lost their core DNA...... hopefully some of these values will ultimately come back.....
To anyone who degrades these have degraded cars themselves. Mercedes needs to return back to the W123s and all other indestructible models they are all so famous for. I hate the direction they, as well as many other manufacturers, took back in the early 2000s when more plastic and cheaply made composites took over overall designs.
They do indeed all look the same these days. I don't even try to see what brand or model they are. It doesn't even really matter as like you said, they all look the same. Only older cars, from like the last century lol are easy to tell not only brand but model within the brand.

This is the first video you've done that I didn't like. The quality was great, the car was great, but the owner really needed to take off his sunglasses. He just gave the video a creepy vibe. What a shame. I liked the story of his father collecting the cars, but the guy just ruined the video for me.
So? He most likely knows, why wouldn't he? There is no reason to sell such a car, because if I would have got one from my dying dad, I would hold onto it forever.

I have to say, there's nothing better on UA-cam right now. These films are fantastic!
This is becoming one of my all time favorite cars!
Most amazing video series ever. Im really glad I found them.
Guys, thanks so much for the great pieces you produce.
what a beautiful car. The wood looks so good. That steering wheel is also pretty awesome.

+Beyond The Suds! Beer Reviews How sad! At least he kept his promise to his father.
Do you know the cause?
Beyond The Suds! Beer Reviews
Ohh so sad
I don't think it's sad at all. He lived a full, privileged life. He was very fortunate.
Good riddance, especially considering he couldn't seem to afford a better choice....
The fact that I've almost cried twice from watching videos about cars has enlightened me to some of my intervehicular complexes
Class. Nothing but Class.

exterior, interior - good god it looks amazing!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC AUTO!!!!
Cette voiture est d'une classe folle et intemporelle , malheureusement moins de 100 commentaires pour honorer une telle œuvre..

There is nothing like an older model Mercedes, nothing. Ask any vallet attendant in Beverly Hills 😊
Never noticed the back end of these to be so beautiful. Wonderful car.
Nice shades too..

Red gullwing, that's the car I would have if I could only have one. When I was a kid I never thought they were so rare and expensive but I loved Gullwings anyway.
That's right, timeless design
When quality speaks for it self
The Gullwing, one of my favourit sports cars ever, that, is a sexy car! and im glad to see an e36 M3 in his lineup. The man knew what he was doing.

Damm what a beautiful car...
I want that SLM in the background!!

The last line of this guy is worth a million dollars!
I am in love !
I appreciate this channel and all the content. I'd like to see Japanese and American cars too.
Such a great video and cars. :)
Old cars have more character than new ones. Do you have a W123 video? I used to own one and would like to see an example. Thank you.
guys what about a mini mk1???i am an owner one of those and i would realy like to see one of them!!
Pretty!
Oh these were good times when Mercedes were making indestructible cars...
10th wedding anniversary, 10 years old.... SHOTGUN WEDDING!
The familly name sounds like Bulgarian. Maybe his father or grandfaher emigrated and obviously made the "American dream" come true.
😍😍😍😍
C'mon guys. Way to short.
Not a fan of newer cars you say? I saw that BMW M3 in your garage!
fantastic story....quality never goes out of fashion.....wish Daimler had paid more attention to this lasting fact of life. It seems in the 90 going forward they lost their core DNA...... hopefully some of these values will ultimately come back.....
I have tobacco brown 1972 280sel 4.5 with only 29,000 miles on it! sadly i don't drive it, it just sits in the garage

look at all that wood....$3000.00 wow!
+Alex Jonson Well $3,000 was a lot back then. Now, it could be like half a million dollars, idk. haha

Seems to be a Peppy car😀
drive it carefully, make her used to run.

I hope he knows that 300sl is worth about $1.2-$1.5 million :/

There's a Petrolicious video of that very Gullwing, you know.
If I had this there is no way in hell I would give it up
