I am the average pet owner who got great results using the e-collar with my dogs over the past couple of years - and all thanks to the videos from Larry. This guy is great - doesn't bullshit and really helps people! Thank you Larry !
This is the right way to use the proffeshonal Einstein educator training collar .Larry you are a legend .,you do something really helpful or really inspiring much people .
Hello my name is David I have a 10-month-old Belgian with your help she is as good as Luca. thank you so much keep up the good work!!! I’ve been following you for six months now.
Love your videos, and we're just starting our dogs (1 Year old Lab/Newfie mix, litter mates) with the E-Collar. We bought the 2 dog system with a mile range. We probably don't need all of that, but we've got 3 acres in Northern Michigan, surrounded by about 80 acres of woods. Going to start working with them this evening.
You are the best educator ever !!! not only you train any dog very very well, but also you are so clear and so perfect in your explanations, I Love you Bro, God Bless you and your family !! Luca is just Fabulous !!! I Will buy the mini educator, honestly, you deserve to take commissions from any selles of this e collar mini educator because you are very helpful, you use it properly !! you correct the dog at the right timing ! FANTASTIC Thank you so much Boss !!
Watched again as I'm having issues as my 14 month old doesn't like being sent away for distance control or what ever it is. This will be useful to help her understand that when I say "away" it is ok to do so. You are so right ,it is like a dog learning a new language. Your training style is very akin to Micheal Ellis. Another one of my favourite trainers :) . Thank you .
I love that I come across the right video at the right time. My huskies and I are stuck on this exact problem right now, like literally we ran into it today for the first time. Cant wait to work with them tomorrow!
THANK YOU for saying "I shape behavior not personality" I couldnt agree more! My boy Tigger BOUNCES literally lol everyone's like u shouldn't allow him to do that, I'm like no he's fine as long as he's not actually making contact with someone, it's just his personality he just bounces he's done it since 8wks old he bounces when excited I'm not going to change his personality.
Awesome. I just started ecollar training and I was having doubt but my trainer proved me wrong. I found out the problem was me and not the tool. I made a game and training at the same time of this video info and my dog is liking it. I just bought your book and I hope I can get better at this cause is better that a prong collar. Thanks you for your videos. Hope you know how much good you’re doing with them.
You make an excellent point with all the before and after videos, they hold no training value whatsoever but do a great job of marketing for that trainer or company. I'm of the opinion though when you show people the basics of how we do what we do going from A to Z, the potential customers will still call you for your services but you will also be helping fellow trainers out there get it right. When it comes to ecollar use, we are all in the same fight together, the struggle of educating others and fighting ignorance.
Need help with the higher level correction. Worked on a 30 for cockapoo for backyard digging, high drive and hyper dog. Did not work for counter surfing. Shelfed that session and put it up to a 45 for that level and "act of God" correction. He did not care and ate the counter food anyways on the 30. Figured a cockapoo being smaller a 30-45 would be sufficient. It's trial and error I guess but do not want to over use that and ideally 1-3 times max... Suggestions? Can he be desensitized after x3 corrections with the 30 already? Counter surfing more reinforcing? The digging is a new behaviour, 2 weeks old, counter surfing is 8 months rehearsed... Thinking that could be a factor? Could you go over a bit about those situations and the size/energy of the dog? Even though I have a German shepherd on a working level 7....he snaps out of anything upon his boost level at a 12 100% of the time... This cockapoo is on a working level 9 🤷♀️ size of dog doesn't matter? Does the behaviour matter? He door dashes, counter surfs, and digs. Digging dealt with. Also need help addressing the door dashing, owner is afraid as he almost got hit by a car. I am unsure if to correct upon dashing the front door, or the property line at the sidewalk? I am unsure if it will make him fearful of walking through the front door thereafter. Or, off leash it will make him superstitious, but on leash to go for a walk or car ride, will he know the difference? Advice with your perspective here please. Or, alternative to the ecollar if you have one, was going to attempt 50 ft long line and setting up the door dash, but unsure if that will be clear enough for him and requires pairing it to the handler and he gets so aroused he'll blow handler off in that mindset. Also concerned for when guests come over, don't want him to pair correction with any human-it is tough because a human must be present, no? Owner wants it nipped in the bud for safety reasons- I said I'd advise her once I asked you (I just gave her your book I bought as well to review).
Hello I was wondering do you have any videos on a step-by-step how to teach and use an electric collar from start to finish? I’m hoping you do so I can watch them and I do think you use the mini educator which is the one I would buy thank you again
Hi I have watched several videos on UA-cam in regards to e collar training but none of the videos give enough detail on how to effectively use an e collar for recall when there are several different distractions around the dog. I have a German shephard x rottweiler and I would appreciate any advice. Thanks
Hey Larry... I love this, I own a "Bat-Shit" crazy dog and I am always telling clients that I don't punish the dog for being a lunatic. What I do, is correct her behaviour, not her personality and in doing so I have a happy dog even when I am applying P+. This is awesome mate! Mike from Oz
I would love to see how you work a dog through extreme distraction on a recall. I know this is built over time. But I would like to see how you do it, especially with the new E-collar sound box (still can't find where to get it), and the collar.
Thankfully, I currently do not have a problem with this command. I have in the past though with younger dogs especially going through the "teen" stages where they act like they were never taught anything. The E-collar can come in very handy at this point because you don't end up chasing them around the house to reprimand them or play the "catch me" game in the yard. You can stay calm, collected, while delivering a fair punishment or reminder to the dog. In the past when I have come across this issue I do two things. I go back to the basics and work the recall with food every time and reinforce the crap out of it. Then I also pair this exercise with the E collar and a long line. Once I feel the dog is more solid and not making mistakes I wean off both the food and the long line. Hope that helps.
Central Ohio Service Dogs Hi, thanks very much for the suggestions. I don't yet have an e-collar. Still contemplating that one. But I will go back to basics and see how that goes. She is only 6 months so still pretty young, and still hope for her yet! She tends to be 100% coming back to me on leash when out. Then I give her a free rein and it's like she has suddenly gone deaf. Lol. If you have any further advice it would be very much appreciated. Rachel
You cannot just go from on leash recalls to complete free reign. There is a LOT of in between work to keep the recall consistent and reliable. I would suggest getting with a local trainer to work on this. Also please do not do what I see a lot of other people do with the E-collar. They tend to slap in on the dog, take the dog off leash, and just "zap" the dog when they don't come back. There is also a lot of transitioning that needs to be done when using the E collar correctly, so if you have never used one before for off leash seek a trainer who has and can show you a demo dog they have trained.
Central Ohio Service Dogs hi, thanks for the comments. I am watching so many videos on this and the videos Larry has put on have really taught me a lot with how I would use an ecollar, I understand it is more to get attention and should not be used to correct or punish a dog. When you say about not going from being on the leash to off the leash and there is more to do, could you please tell me what you mean. The trouble with the e-collar here in the uk, not many have heard of it. Hence why I watch all these videos for guidance.
I’m not against e-collar training and I’ve only ever taught my dogs basic obedience, but they do those commands very well. Since I don’t have an e-collar and when I come across a situation similar to this. I would just say “place” again and if he become confused a second time I’d say “place” again. Reinforcing my verbal command until he did it. Does the e-collar take away the authority of the verbal command when there is no e-collar?
Nebraskadogtrainers.com , I'd use a soundbox so that my human students can hear the proper timing so they understand exactley when they should be utilizing the e-collar. A lot of dog owners struggle with the issue of timing.
So I have a question about levels. I've watched a few of your videos and you always seem to get a reaction in the single digits. I have a Pomeranian mix and a 6 month old Dogo Argentino. The pom works at around a 4 but the dogo shows no response below a 30. I don't want to hurt the dog and it doesn't seem to hurt him at all (no twitchyness). I've tried going a click tighter and click looser on the collar to no avail. I just started using the mini educator and am using the shorter supplied contacts, I have ordered the extra short in hopes that will help. Any input would be appreciated.
you have great videos and have really convinced me in trying to work with an e collar. question should I get each of my dogs there individual collar or can they share a collar
well here we go im old getting a puppy going to start with clicker Association to start with and a few commands in when he's hopefully smarter than I am I will start with some e collar training I hope this works out!!!
thanx for your videos they're amazing! but any chance that you could get a higher quality camera like 780 or 1020? also do you ever get to the point that you dont ever need the ecollar?
thanx, and all i meant was a simple point and shoot camera (many vloggers such as roman atwood use simple cameras like that but get great picture quality)
Thank you!!! I was wondering how I'd begin to reinforce a place command when up to this point I'd done it 100% positive. I wasn't sure if I could do it with my ecollar cause I didn't want to zap her drive or willingness to think about what I wanted. Thanks for making this video!!
Larry, can I use this same very low level tap to reinforce other strictly positive behaviors I've taught my dog? I've taught her many service dog tasks (pick up dropped items, open& close doors, etc) but we're to the point where she looks for the existence of a treat in my hand before she chooses to perform the task. I'd like her to perform the task no matter her mood, regardless of whether she believes she has a strong chance of getting a cookie or not. Maybe I've messed this up by not hiding her treat bag away from her line of sight. What do you think?
Our dog Rotti has done e collar training but still goes after certain breeds he could care less about the shock he goes any suggestions ? He is great in open parks the house and with kids , we just can't pin point why he goes after certain dogs
Two collars is punishment, not training. Start over with training. On walks my Rott looks at another dog and two taps on the e-collar directs his attention to me. Three times at a 25 and now he won't look at the same dog on walks.
I like you Larry, good videos good practice. Have you ever worked with a Basenji? If so I would like to hear anything you can give me, thanks buddy and keep it up!
Larry have you ever heard of affiliate marketing? you could be making some coin with an affiliate link to amazon to a mini educator. I see in the comment section all the time people asking what to buy. want me to show you how? I offering to help you cause you helped so many.
Watching this again, it would of been interesting to see how he would of responded if you put Luca between your legs or had him in a down facing the direction of place as compared to sitting facing you when given the place command. My guess is he might of done better but then again, this isn't an exercise that you probably do all the time so he isn't as familiar as say a dog that does sport where this is an exercise trained day in and day out.
Really like the meat of your videos but feel like I need to offer a bit of constructive criticism after watching as many as I have. You would get 10 times the like feedback if you’d just get to the point within the first minute. In this video for example you took over 6 minutes before you actually did anything and at 6 minutes you’ve lost 90% of your audience. As a speech professional I’m just offering that tip because I enjoy the work you do, so take it for what it is. Maybe even just experiment with 3-4 videos where you jump straight to the point, then fill the rest of the ~9 minutes with actual work and just see what happens to your feedback. Either way keep up the great work, thanks for all of the help you’ve provided me in working with my 2 Bull Terriers, I’ve certainly needed it! -Cheers!

Many many thanks Larry for your drive to help us and our dogs! Great video's, thanks to Sophia and Greg too!

Can you do a video with a small dog if you get a chance. Like a jack Russell type. Most of the e collar videos are with big dogs.
great vid larry. I must have the soundbox! Didnt even see it on my price list.
i am excited to have an e-collar and start trying those techniques i learn from you bro
can you do a video on reinforcing a fetch command with the ecollar
Appreciate your teaching ability. Not, the usual here's now, check back in two weeks crap. That is why I subscribed! Mahalo nui loa

you do it fabulous man ,respect for your knowledge

Hello, do you have a video about dogs that are aggressive with other dogs? I see several for human aggression but none for dog on dog aggression
In your experience does an ecollar increase a dogs speed when doing what asked?

Very useful video
Ordering e-collar now.
how's it going? I'm getting mine today
How do you train a dog who constantly barks? To stop him from barking?!
Anti bark collars are amazing!
Excellently explained ,thank you :)
thanks so much.
