I have a few proto sockets an wrenches but I have alot of craftsman tools. Since last year me an my dad been going to harbor freight tools an we got the 5 drawer tool carts an I been filling up mine with Pittsburgh tools. We go once a month to harbor freight. I like how you an your son get alone it reminds me of my dad was when I was a kid an he still treats me the same. He has taught me alot of things
It's great you're with your son and guiding him along. Telling him what to do rather than what not to do is key to teaching him and making it fun and easy to learn. Kids need time with Dad. It's so important. Also, thanks for the 5 drawer cart tour. They go on sale with their own coupon pretty regularly. $20 off. The way you have your sockets organized and stored is great. You can pull out the whole rail if you're going to need multiple sizes without going back to the cart! I work using jack stands and I really don't want to get up off the ground just to get another socket. Your solution fixes that. I don't have enough tools to warrant a large toolbox. The cart looks to be the perfect size that I could grow into. It's easily movable and that fits my needs perfectly.
I saw a cool hack where the guy used 2 of those magnets, put them back to back and used short nuts and bolts to attach them. Then the magnet from one side sticks to the box and the other is for your tools. No holes through the top. A little more spendy option
Your son is a trip I really get a kick out of him narrating and his knowledge of tools is phenomenal. I really cracked up when he had the microfiber towel packs in his hand and goes "free at harbor freight with the coupon!"......nice to see not all kids now days are stuck in a monitor with a video game console controller glued into their hands!!
Thank you Aaron! He is definitely unique in that area, lol. He’s not much of a gamer kid....but he sure does like to spend a lot of time on UA-cam 😂😂😂😂
Agreed! Love the bond and enjoyed the tour of the tool box, I remember growing up holding the flashlight for my old man while getting yelled at lol that was mechanic school 101
I run a small shop and do good my youngest son helps me so every time I buy a new tool I tell him it's his because they are his when I don't need them anymore
Jason Levesque thanks for the heads up Jason. So far, so good. I may be looking to upgrade to a set of off set, ratcheting wrenches in the future. Maybe Icon?
Justin Bish thank you! That’s great to hear. I just bought the Duralast 3 piece ratchet set a few weeks ago. I’m going to post up a quick video on it once and get caught up around here. Happy wrenching brother!
@@lakes2land780 yes, ill watch. Everyone complains about harbor freight tools which they aren't bad. I like the Quinn socket sets with no skips. But everything is made in Taiwan just about even snap on etc. Proto isn't but they cost an arm and a leg to buy
I love harbor freight for my set up it works great!! I have to say you are doing great with that kid most kids these days won’t even know what a simple tool looks like. Have fun building your projects fellas!
great set up for the sockets but you must be able to guess the size of it w/o looking at the numbers bro, if you fail one of them by measuring it to the bolt/ nut that you're trying to work with just go one number higher or one number smaller, in that way you'll learn to trust yourself not the painted numbers, just thinking 🤔 any how, you did a great job by organizing it on top of the tool cart that way 👍
Nice tool cart review. I have the same red one but the 1st gen. What is the brand name/part number of the red plier divider? I would like to add that to my box. Thanks
Last Life absolutely! Here’s the link. They Ernst Manufacturing makes them. They come in red or high visibility green. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B015QCU9ES?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&th=1
Got the same cart but the green one to put some overflow tools from my bigger box and I still couldn’t fit everything I had. I think it’s time for another main box lol
Dusty West thank you Dusty! I found in an old tool box in my shed and thought I would try to put them into service. Do you have any thoughts on the Herbrand tool line? I can’t find much on them.
Lakes her brand tool company is. An older tool company USA manufacturing tools I want to say 1950 and up good quality I have some of their stuff its built to last hold on to them I collect tools too and when I see that stuff I wind up picking it up if the price is right happy hunting
I just started being a professional mechanic I’ve been working on cars most my life and I just got the snap on ratchet and I don’t regret it by no means I wish I would’ve had a long time ago And to be honest electric ratchet better than an old fashion one it’s easier on hands lol
Your son did a better job with the camera than you did (some with your direction). Good overall job. Good luck with your channel. Smart kid. Nice assembly of tools. Good organization. Nice that you don't get hung up on the designer brand crap mentality. Function and adequate quality over brand brainwashing is king. Remember that a pro gets paid to use his tools and can pay Top Dollar and inflated prices for his tools. All you have to do is save enough on one or a few jobs to pay for your own tools then you are WAY ahead in the long run. Do that enough and you can still buy them over again. Add that to the Smarts you acquire and the Satisfaction of Attempting or Accomplishing the task you would have paid someone else to do and you have a winning combination for great SUCCESS overall! Teach your children common sense and they will be uncommonly ahead of a vast number of their peers. God Bless!
specialks1953 He sure did do a better job than me! Lol!! He knows his way around that tool cart better than I do. I have encouraged all three of my boys to help themselves to my tools to work on their projects or make a repair, but please...put them back! I absolutely agree with you, as I would love to have a box full of Snap On and Matco. But these tools have gotten me by so. I work on everything from the mower, snowblower, to the cars. I have yet to break a tool that was meant for its intended purpose. I appreciate your comment and suggestion. I’ll let Evan do all the camera work from know on : )
You did not need to bolt the magnet on. I guess you never heard of this great stuff its called GLUE you it works very well . You just ruined the hell out of your flat work surface on the lid. I cannot believe how many people have not heard of GLUE it has been out for years ?
John Bailey that’s one approach I could have taken is glue I suppose. But I have to be honest, I’ve never had much luck with an adhesive being reliable over time...except JB weld.
You guys make a great team.
Thank you : )
Great memories being made right there!

Noticed the same thing
Also noticed. Its heartwarming. I hope i can do the same for mine when i have them

a tip : you can watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies recently.
Your cameraman is a bad ass.
You are definitely a good dad it was great to see your cart tour
Brandon Gordon thank you Brandon!
Came for the cart tour but stayed for the content. Great father and son bonding moment.
GreddyReaddy thank you! Enjoy the videos 😀

That is awesome! Plus, he gets to know his way around tools and their value 😊
Gearwrench makes Husky racheting wrenchs, they are built the same. 👍
Jason Levesque thanks for the heads up Jason. So far, so good. I may be looking to upgrade to a set of off set, ratcheting wrenches in the future. Maybe Icon?
Nice review and display of the cart. Got the same one at work. Wrench on European cars daily. Use duralast, harbor freight tools with no problem.

Very nice setup
Brads Workbench thank you. We are making little additions and the improvements here and there 😃
Thanks guys great ideas
I know... I'm a year late.. but good to see a father taking the time to show off his tools WITH his son. good for you!
Randy K. Thank you Randy! I really appreciate the comment.
This was a good tool cart tour, I like how you treat your son too... good job!
Thank you Mike! He’s a great boy who loves to learn. He humors me with tools... but trains are his real interest.

Jose Calderon thank you! We just got done repairing a snowblower the other day. He loves being in the garage working with the tools 😃
You and your camera guy are an awesome dou. Very organized tool box. God bless you guys and thank you for tour

harbor freight has come a long way. Pittsburgh makes great tools!
howiboy I’m happy so far myself with my Pittsburgh tools. You just have to do a little research on what it is your buying and you’ll be just fine 😀
Cute kid, nice duo
Victor Ibarra thanks Victor 😃
Did you super glue the door mat to your side tray? Curious how you kept it adhered.
Nom Solo I used a spray adhesive. It’s held up just fine so far 😃
@@lakes2land780 Thanks!
Lots of good tools. Thanks for the tour!
Bruce L. Thanks Bruce L! We got some new tools over the last few weeks that we want to show off 😀

@@lakes2land780 Thanks for the insight! Did you have to modify the plier rack to fit the width of the half drawer or it fit as is?
Last Life not at all. Slides right in, no mods necessary. As long as your drawer is the same width and length....your in business.
@@lakes2land780 Great. Im going to order this plier rack. Thank you.

I love this cart. I just got the exact one. I'm adding speakers and led light strips.
MegaHowtoMan would love to see that when you are done. We are really enjoying ours, but they do fill up quickly.
Did u rivet magnet strips to lid?
Love that ur son knows so much about tools. You are lucky. He did a great job with the camera.
MegaHowtoMan I used nuts and bolts to secure them on.
MegaHowtoMan thank you! He loves being in the garage and tinkering with things , even more so than me lol!
Those 3/4" Proto Sockets from Dad!
Doug abrams “thank you Daddy”! Wait...that sounds creepy 🤣
You have an awesome assistant. I can tell he looks up to you and you thought him a lot or he knows a lot about tools. LOL
JOSHUA GARCIA thank you for the compliment 😀
The socket you said you found in the tool box in the garage with the star pattern that is the inverted torx socket

Lakes love the tool presentation awesome just the way I would have done it remember you can make sets as you collect way to work
Joseph Burgess thank you Joseph for the compliment!
What brand are you red screwdrivers?
Sergio Gutierrez they were Pittsburgh Pro from Harbor Freight. I have since switched to Milwaukee brand from Home Depot 😀
Great video guys it’s a great feeling when your child is involved and learning helpful life lessons my son and I do similar things on our channel
AJ Jacobs thank you! All I can ask for is that my boys learn a little something along the way!
Craftsman makes a 120tooth ratchet that you can buy I’d get it if I was you it’s a part of their gunmetal set
Anthony Clancy I’ll have to look for it next time I’m out. I’m guessing Lowe’s carries that?
It is me the filmer
Put that little duralast through its paces in the short time I've had it
FCwilliamsUSN it’s a great little ratchet. I’ve used it a few times just recently. I’m impressed so far.
You should sell your whole cart to your son joining the career it would give him a great start and would give you the chance to build a whole new set
Anthony Clancy my wife would hang me Anthony if I started over 😂

One thing that you’d want to replace first I get the snap on ratchet there this smothestst ratchet you will ever use

A lot of better cheaper options than jumping to a professional grade tool going for well over $100.
