to skip 4mins+ of bullshit,
open .minecraft folder, open the "options.txt" file and change "gamma" into a higher value like "100.0", then save the file

also, make sure not to move your brightness slider or it'll go back to normal

@@joranmeulemeester9802 the slider controlls the gamma value from 0 to 1, you just changed the value of the slider through the options so theres no problem

It is not working. when I open the game it's normal, and upon returning to the notepad the value is changed back to 1.0. Yes, I did save it. I'm wondering if Optifine might disable this?
