    Cool old basement find there, Jay-Bo! I dig that thing. She ain't the purtiest girl at the dance. She's a little weird. A little Les Paulish. A little Stratish. Some weird parts. But it's a neat old guitar, with some miles on it! And probably some great stories. Good stuff! I hope all is well up there with you and Family, Brother!

    What an awesome Holiday Time project! I recommend Brasso from Canadian Tire for the brass knobs. It is not expensive and works well. Wish I found something like this is a basement!

    That's one of my favorite colors on a guitar. I have a Squier, and an Ibanez Roadstar, both from the early 80's in that same color. Looks like a fun little project. Enjoy!

    That’s a really interesting guitar. Midpoints in the pots. Phase switch. Rounded edges. Not an everyday ax for sure. It got lucky to fall into your hands. Have fun fixing it and good luck!

    BTW, with the tone knob rolled down, especially on the bridge pickup, this guitar sounds like the PERFECT Eric Clapton-like “woman tone” guitar!

    Beautiful job J man on that westone,a little deoxit on those push pulls, would get them working again,probably corrosion.

      @j-man9457  8 місяців тому

      Yup I hope so... they are not push pulls though... not sure why they are stacked pots!

    WOW… Just WOW!!! This guitar is UNIQUE!!! The design language of this guitar seems almost PRS-like, if I dare say so! I just looked it up online… There’s a LOT of good info out there on this brand! Most of their models (including this one) were apparently Japanese made in the 1980’s! I’d say this is clearly NOT your average no-name el cheapo brand.
    I’ll be very interested to see what you do with it. If it were me, I’d say just give it a good restoration, but do NOT try to re-finish it, mod it, or swap out the pickups, whatever you do! Those pickups sound REALLY good, and very bright and clear for humbuckers. It sounds like it has much more girth than a Telecaster, but I actually really like that!
    This guitar also has unique circuitry… I wonder if that tone control is a dual-ganged TBX-style tone pot… That would be SERIOUSLY awesome!

    Try popping up those tone pots,its possible one or more of them can be double pots

    • @j-man9457
      @j-man9457  5 місяців тому

      Nope they are not push pulls. Just stacked pots with a detent in the middle😄

    Never heard of the brand but it’s too cool. You have to keep the original pups! Just fix what you have to, clean her up, a setup, & new strings. Then let her rip tatter chip. 😎🌵🎸

      The Sears Silvertone guitars were made by Danelectro. This guitar does not look like one of those.

    Are you sure that's a thunder 2 because I don't see the cover on the back for the 18-volt preamp im not 100 sure maybe it's the Thunder 2a that it has 18 volt preamp in it, let me know please if you know the difference. If anyone knows which models have that please replay

    • @j-man9457
      @j-man9457  5 місяців тому

      Good question!
      I didn't even know these existed until my drummer asked me to fix it hahaha! It says thunder II in the headstock so my guess is yes it is in fact a Thunder II. It does not have a preamp of any kind. All passive circuits in this one, so yeah definitely a different model or year of production for the 18 volt preamp for sure!
