I love the diversity and will be going to India for the first time in a couple of months! I will be eager to experience everything opposite of what you showed in New Delhi. Hehe. Right when I see those high end shops, Starbucks, etc., it's a BIG turnoff. I would feel like I'm BACK in the U.S where everything is so typical and ridiculously overpriced.

You can even dial the police helpline if the situation goes bad. Alternatively, you can approach the local people/shop and convey your concern. Hope you don't face such a situation again :) Thank you for visiting India.
Rs 40 is way too less, that should have been the first clue to a localite. Maybe u ask any nearby localite if the price seems right before falling into a scam. Unfortunately these scams are real particularly when the customer seems a foreigner
Gabi ! I always enjoy your videos. Being a flight attendant for a major US airline, we, the Crew , Always stay in Aerocity on regular basis…I like it. After a whole day in old Delhi, it’s a great area to relax , away from dust and chaos. I am glad you’re showing us different part of this amazing country. I will never get tired of flying there.
Sorry mam.. looks like u miss understood something here.. Old areas r the only thing that map shows even right now.. People r dishing not because of old areas but because of people r confused about the cities.. "New Delhi" and "Delhi" r two different places.. ND is a city inside Delhi state.. we accept when people shows bad sides of New Delhi as well when u speak with real names... we have multiple places with similar names.. people often confuses and gives negative opinion towards a good side confusing with other place with similar name that they actually visited.. which gives a bad reputation overall. That's all..

Only main road of Noida and Gurgaon . The moment you go 100 meters from the posh area , it is same old shit story bro. No matter whether it is Noida , GGN or Delhi. But delhi is 50 years ahead in terms of infrastructure like road, lighting, water, power and law order.

Actually the guy with burgundi hair used differently brand hair color than loreal color which Gabi used (as he was saying it cost him 40 rupees i.e. around half a $ only) & on top of that he said he colored it days back so his hair color changed to that color . The salon guy was telling Gabi in hindi *if his hair is colored black , he has to bleach it for that new color to work properly.
Actually, we need to build morden infrastructure, city , dressing trends in our Indian styles it's not that being western Is bad, it's actually good , but we certainly have work to do for getting over our colonial hangovers and refine our cultural and civilization representation we can take Japan as example, I mean come on ppl don't visit different countries just for seeing a bunch of concrete iron and steel infrastructure it's the unique culture and society of the country.

I was in Delhi on 2020, I saw the old Delhi and the New Delhi, love them both! I am American so I don’t want to see store from America, I love Old Delhi, there is many store there for Indian clothing for woman.
I live in Kolkata and the number of times roadside vendors try to scam any tourist is baffling. Whenever I spot them I make sure they learn some new vocabulary of sweet words. Its like they see a non-Indian and immediately 20 becomes 200 or 30 becomes 300.
Just a tip, if you stay in Delhi, please make sure your hotel isn't in Paharganj. You'll find the cheapest hotels there for a reason. Dirty narrow busy streets with smell of piss. Moreover, its right next to the red light area called GB Road

Nice, please do visit The Akshardham temple, New Delhi. I can bet you have never seen such architecture anywhere. It's so unique, huge and harmonious place 💖 Please do visit there🙏🏻 Also the Cyber city, Gurugram is modern
Also please do not miss to visit Gurugram. It is called the millenial city of India, the most modern city. Very near to Delhi and comes under the National Capital Region (NCR)
Words of wisdom from an Indian. If you are travelling to India. 1. Spend the extra money and book the 5 stars. In delhi the 5 stars are next to the airport in Aero city. If you are going to travel all day you should at least come back to a nice place to relax. Do not go book a hotel In Paharganj or Mahipalpur (It is a red light area where you will end up meeting escorts.) 2. Book Ubers. Do not tie up with local taxi people (even Indians don’t do that! Comeon! Unless you want to get scammed or kidnapped) Ubers are safer as they have trackers and set fares. If you are a tourist ( even better book the Uber premium so the taxi drivers are better) 3. The posh areas in Delhi are obviously- Khan market, Qutub-Mehrauli, CP is nice but all kinds of people go there. You need to watch out and not entertain strangers, South Delhi is more Posh than other places in Delhi. 4. The metro is alright but the best one happens to be the Orange Line which is also known as the airport line. They have cctvs so metros are safe. 5. Do not take the subway unless you want to get robbed. 6. We do not speak to strangers. If you are going to speak to everyone on the street get ready to either be scammed or sold drugs. (Female travellers- should avoid being in old Delhi or any area which doesn’t seem posh for their own safety after dark. In the posh areas of Delhi. You can stay out but only with company. 7. Truth be told- Delhi is porous. Has people from various states coming here for employment. Not all of these people are progressive or view women the same way. If you are too friendly you are easy. Societies are different and it’s better to understand the culture before you step in here. Do not entertain all kinds of people. If you are being harassed, scream. Call the police- 100, do not be compliant and invest in a good tour guide who speaks absolutely fluent English. We do not hire any person who speaks broken English in India for anything! You will be surprised how diverse this place is.
Hey Gabi, extremely sorry that you got scammed. But if you seems to be get scammed just ask locals they will surely help you. Have a wonderful journey buddy. Love from 🇮🇳🇮🇳India.
India is an enchanting land of extremeties. Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad & of course the national capital region in and around Delhi like Gurugram is extremely modern and prosperous in certain areas. I love to see India grow and prosper!
Gurugram cyber city is I guess better than aerocity , must visit India gate at evening as it got a massive makeover like lawns and new sidewalks, India is also making it's new parliament House but it's under construction now, and don't forget to visit Ajanta and Ellora Caves
Nameste! I just discovered your videos yesterday and love them! So far I've only watched the ones from India. People around started watching us and then finally he had to come down to 100. 😂😂😂
Love the way you interact with Indians regardless of where you are. The Orchha, Varanasi, and Jodhpur blew my mind. Next time you visit India, I would bet you'd love Kutch and Hampi. And if you're in Delhi again, there is Jantar Mantar near the admittedly overrated Janpath Market to make fore a better experience haha; it's a medieval astronomical site built by a former king of Jaipur.
sorry mate, Pune has been deteriorating since 2010. Overcrowded, has less vegetation, and heavy traffic, and is less cosmopolitan. In its full glory, it used to be like what Navi Mumbai is today
The Pullman Hotel in Aerocity is a great 5 star hotel. My daughter and son in law stayed a night there. I got to go with them when they checked in. I was very impressed. Connaught Place has the look of the British era, to me. We got takeaway food from Haldiram's, about where you got your shoes cleaned.
Bro , you should not focus one some negative comments. They will always say visit this place , visit that place , visit my state , no matter what. So.....Personally I think you should try both modern and old Places. And also the larger part of Delhi , which is old Delhi is must because it's the majority.
Gabi, by default ALWAYS ask price for everything before agreeing on any service. I ran into a similar scam while riding through Granada in Spain. I agree with other commentators, if in such a situation, just ask any people around to help you out. PS: Do you mind sharing which backpack you're using?
Your adventure through Aerocity was fascinating! It's impressive how developed and modern it is. How did you feel about the food scene there compared to other parts of Delhi?
Ya, Delhi has a larger modern side. As most of the capital cities of the world you have both good and bad side.. It's a paradise for food lovers.. You need to know where to eat.. Nice video gabi. I wish you could have come to Hyderabad it is a has a rice heritage and very well developed.. I can host you if you come here to Hyderabad.

Very interesting to see the newer parts of Delhi, as a tourist from Europe it doesn’t look as interesting as the older parts. Presumably the water is just the same.
I guess you are talking about the quality of the tap water in India. So if you stay in a high end gated community or with luxurious hospitality in India, the tap water in your hotel suite or in your high end apartment is not the same as the tap water in low income group localities or slums as the gated communities and luxurious hotels have their own water purification systems for drinking purposes and additionally wealthier people can anyway buy UV/RO based water purifying home appliance for their family use. In India municipal water treatment facilities for tap water supply in all major cities have vastly improved over the years yet tap water at the business end is a bit suspect, not because of any shoddy practise in the name of treatment but because of the antiquated underground water supply network with broken pipes through which sewage water or stormwater seep into the tap water supply system and it would incur huge expenses to replace the vast labyrinth of old supply network not possible to bear in the short term with low per capita tax collection and in the process the whole cityscape and the arterial roads would look like dug up graveyard blocading traffic and all meaningful socioeconomic activity for indefinite period. India has been constructing greenfield cities on acquired rural and agricultural real estates where land price and existing economic activity are less compared to existing irban spaces and hence cost of development would also be less and tap water quality won't be a concern in those cities once they are built. Coming to your observation that newer parts of Delhi do not look as interesting as older parts, well, India can not afford to remain poor to come across as interesting to foreign backpackers subconsciously gorging on poverty tourism of sorts either with the coolaid of multiculturalism and diversity or to seek validation from within regarding being thankful and fortunate to be born with privileges amidst systemic order in the developed west that is congruent with mainstream western narrative largely curated by western media and academia with unabashed stereotypes on the developing world, completely forgetful and unmindful of sequence of historical events that led to the difference visible in the modern day perspective, for example two century long colonial expropriation of India and the west reaping the dividends of early headstart and early harvest of fruits of industrial revolution whilst Indians, stripped of their sovereignty, lost the sway to dictate terms to their fate, their socioeconomic and sociopolitical discourse and remained stagnant in the contemporary timeframe. Everybody has a right to aspire and lead a wealthier and affluent life amongst opulence after all. So westerners have to cope with India gradually becoming more "uninteresting" that way. But India will remain interesting when it comes to Indian architecture visible with temples built even in the modern times, Indian festivities like Dussera, Diwali and Holi, Indian weddings and funerals, every day aspects of Indian lives very Indian in their own ways even if the work culture and infrastructure changes, India's spiritual and philosophical values, India's food, colors, costumes, culture, arts, songs, dance forms, movies, literature, India's many languages that are all inalienable to India's soul, apart from India's natural beauty and topgraohy that will also remain as interesting as today. So India still has hell lot to offer that might pique your interest even if congested crowded narrow streets astride nondescript lowrise slums with bullcarts and tuktuks plying on them, trash strewn around and vendors encroaching upon sidewalks selling their stuffs give away to modernised well planned and well maintained wide throughfares, more parks, water bodies, open spaces and squares, gardens, foodcourts, malls, better traffic and crowd management, more cleanliness and better overall living spaces in years ahead of us.
@@knightatdawndonbynight8432 yes it was the tap water I was enquiring about. Thanks for your detailed reply. I don’t disagree with the second paragraph. I first visited India in 1980 and travelled quite widely and though I had a great time I was very mindful of how hard life was for most Indians and how lucky I was that in England we could drink water from the tap without fear. Back then I did sometimes drink iced water from vendors in Delhi as there was only so much Limca, Campa Cola or Chai that I could drink. There was no bottled water available and someone told me that it was chlorinated ( I don’t suppose it was but there were no guide books in those days to inform you) and like you pointed out perhaps the pipes were in better condition India was very different then and has progressed a lot and I am not intending any criticism or desire for it to remain poor. I am also aware that most Indians live in the countryside and for many of them life will not have changed so much. I have no particular interest in visiting Starbucks, Nando’s or KFC whether it be in England or India and shopping Malls don’t interest me either. Last time I was in Delhi 4 years ago was with my son and though he regularly eats Indian food he tried the KFC , nice to have the choice - he said the chicken was much bigger and enjoyed it. Have you been to Chandigarh? I was very impressed though it did have what you would describe as a slum where the rickshaw riders lived Many western tourists will have some understanding of colonialism and partition. As you say there are lots of interesting sites to visit in India, many people are quite happy to visit Goa and enjoy 2 weeks in the sun. I don’t know but I imagine the Goan economy has benefited from tourism even if the ecology hasn’t Bfn

@@creativethinkers3214 yes big changes that you have lived through i have just had a snapshot, I have visited the south a couple of times and it seemed much cleaner and more relaxed particularly in Kerala . I was told that a lot of people worked abroad in the gulf states which enabled them to build houses, open businesses etc. Most of the Indians in Bolton are Gujerati but are settled here though some have built houses back in the villages which they visit in the winter. Never been to New York but although they may have clean water and sanitation there are many homeless people, it doesn’t have a welfare state like we do or did ! @@jonnyreggae100 yeah I'm from Tamilnadu which is situated right next to Kerala. Kerala is really a tourism heaven and development there is pretty good. Since Kerala is a communist state all these years they never allowed a single industry No industrialidation so no job opportunities and it doesn't have any major city but yeah it has many pleasant places for tourism. Gujaraits are considered as money makers and top 5 richest persons in India come from Gujarat. Also if you have seen many Indian motels and hotels are actually owned by them gujaratis. You will often find Patel motels in USA. These guys own almost 60 percent of entire motels and small chain restaurants in USA. As you said poor people are everywhere in the world but yeah we are slowly developing and lifting people from poverty like 200 million people came out of poverty in last 10 years. Poverty rate is from 37 percent to 21 percent in last 10 years. I think in future we will be in a even more better situation compared to this. And also I'm a 2004 born so all these stories about their village life were told by my family members and now yeah I'm enjoying the development and facilities. Peace✌
Hahaha, I love how spontaneous you are, just meeting a guy whose hair color you like and then going the salon right away to get it done on yourself too 🤣 but yeah, if you want to dye dark hair, you have to bleach it first or otherwise the color won't stick. Actually CP, Khan market and Janpath are also around 100 years old. These along with India Gate comes under Lutyen's Delhi, named after the architect who designed it in around 1920. If you walk around CP, you'll see the buildings have old architecture and some in really bad condition are unused and awaiting demolition. It's just the shop inside them that's chaned.

Words of wisdom from an Indian.
If you are travelling to India.
1. Spend the extra money and book the 5 stars. In delhi the 5 stars are next to the airport in Aero city. If you are going to travel all day you should at least come back to a nice place to relax. Do not go book a hotel In Paharganj or Mahipalpur (It is a red light area where you will end up meeting escorts.)
2. Book Ubers. Do not tie up with local taxi people (even Indians don’t do that! Comeon! Unless you want to get scammed or kidnapped) Ubers are safer as they have trackers and set fares. If you are a tourist ( even better book the Uber premium so the taxi drivers are better)

There was no bottled water available and someone told me that it was chlorinated ( I don’t suppose it was but there were no guide books in those days to inform you) and like you pointed out perhaps the pipes were in better condition
India was very different then and has progressed a lot and I am not intending any criticism or desire for it to remain poor.
I was very impressed though it did have what you would describe as a slum where the rickshaw riders lived
Many western tourists will have some understanding of colonialism and partition. As you say there are lots of interesting sites to visit in India, many people are quite happy to visit Goa and enjoy 2 weeks in the sun. I don’t know but I imagine the Goan economy has benefited from tourism even if the ecology hasn’t

We now have beggars and people living on the streets, never thought I would see it here
Hope that makes sense
@@jonnyreggae100 yeah I'm from Tamilnadu which is situated right next to Kerala. Kerala is really a tourism heaven and development there is pretty good. But so many youngsters are moving into other main cities in India and gulf from Kerala coz there is literally no job opportunities there. Since Kerala is a communist state all these years they never allowed a single industry
No industrialidation so no job opportunities and it doesn't have any major city but yeah it has many pleasant places for tourism. Peace✌

Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳
I have never been to Delhi. After watching your videos I decided to visit soon. Excellent series of videos Gabi!
Hahaha, I love how spontaneous you are, just meeting a guy whose hair color you like and then going the salon right away to get it done on yourself too 🤣 but yeah, if you want to dye dark hair, you have to bleach it first or otherwise the color won't stick. Maybe this time around it was to your advantage though... 😁
The coffee and sushi in Aerocity were super expensive, but I guess it should be expected because there you're paying a lot for the premises too, not just the food.
Bro...in foreign countries... In Starbucks..how much a coffee costs?(idk)is it really expensive in india
Hi Gabi. try to Indonesia next, many interesting things in Indonesia, diverse culture, friendly locals, delicious food, very beautiful nature, and lots of historical places too, such as the old city, Borobudur temple and many more that cannot be mentioned one by one . I recommend several places such as Bali, the capital city of Jakarta, Komodo island, and the city of Jogja
Indonesia is my one of the dream places!
It's my dream to visit the old hindu heritages and temples in indonesia... And i also wanna see the natural beautiful hills

Thank you for coming, India❤
you are really exploring real india😘😘
Connaught Place is 90 years old so it's not very new. Khan Market is also not very old. But Aerocity is. Gurugram Cyber City is the newest i guess and it's part of Delhi National Capital Region (NCR)
First of all sorry bro for your experience in Connaught Place(that scam part). You can also explore other areas nearby Delhi like cyber city in Gurugram.
Tu kyu sorry bol raha hai be india me badsurat bhi rehtey hai chapri type ke ab tuh unlogo ko bhi apna manega aur khud ko badsurat smjhney lagega toh ye shi nhi hai. 70% ish desh ki janta bhed hai

Never knew ! David warner has started vlogging 😮
A lot of people confuse Aero City with Cyber City indeed both are crazy modern but in Aero City you don't have much to do that's just a place for people working around there to do a lil bit of shopping but Cyber city is better imo as there is more crowd malls, etc.
Ahhh I wish I knew… next time 😉
I just watched your travels for the first time in from Australia I was wondering can you put yourview on whether it’s safe to eat market food and drink the water in the poorer areas ! Love following ur adventure x
Tbh i have died many times after eating Street food but Because of taste. Haha..
Well better to purchase a packaged water bottle or carry your own water if you are foreigner. As an Indian we are accustomed to it. But mostly we also carry our own water bottles.
And about stomach ache...it's because of spices..we also feel the same sometimes when we travel to a different State in India itself.
Great that you love it.
you should have come Gtb nagar which is surrounded by delhi's major famous market and top colleges and covers all in max 2km (Kamla nagar, Hudson lane , kigsway camp , mukherjeer nagar, and plenty of delhi university and lots )
Gabi, thank you for making this video. It calmed my fears of going to Delhi. I like Aero City. I can see myself staying there while venturing into the "unknown" side of New Delhi. lol I can then return back to the "Western" side of the city. Thanks for making this video. Much appreciated.
Thank you Brother love from India

tbh i prefer the quieter part of india. for your next adventure may i propose a trip to south america and the amazons. i see your spiritual awakening has already started. it'd be amazing to see you try ayahuasca retreats there.
Hi Gabi, whatever you explore in your videos good or bad, ugly or beautiful, old n poor or rich n fancy doesn't make much difference. Only thing that matters is whether you're enjoying it or not.
