Another great video! You should always make the videos as you like them. If you prefer with music, then add music. There will always be 1 person who doesn't like it. But if we always take things away because 1 person doesn't like the thing, then you end up in a desert landscape with nothing to say...
What a great ride, the only thing that might have been missing was some background music chosen by a professional musician. Those who don't like music can always use the mute button and let the rest of us enjoy the total package.
@@mnveloguy i disagree. i hate music on non music videos. also i hate it on tv documentaries too. or films if it prevents hearing dialogue. i rarely if ever like the music on youtube vids. its usually some shitty generic heavy rock music or something. if i want music, i can add mine. but you cannot remove it. muting removes commentary and other sounds.

Nice job! I believe that 200 watts would be required to maintain 30 mph on the level with your Velomobile, which is good from my perspective. I am curious as to how your data retrieval system calculates wattage. Is there a torque mwasuring mechanism or somethoing else? Thanks, Dave
@@DavidGierke-nl1dl check my channel. I did further testing beyond this. Under 160 watts with the combi hood, and I got as low as 116 watts with the race hood and super fast race tires. A lot of Velomobiles can do under 200 watts on the flat including older models like the Quest and DFXL. Wattage does depend to some extent on the rider and system weight though. I weigh 61kg. Nice video and road and yet: if a Bülk would not do 30 mph on the flat it would be disappointing as my cruising speeds in a DF XL are around 28 mph…in Holland where it us flat too 🎉
Naturally. I fully expected the Bülk would be this fast. I just hadn’t found a good road yet to try it. Now that I know of this road, I will go there more often to ride.
The Bülk has excellent airflow through the body in hot weather. I cooked in my old Quest. I haven’t had any problems riding the Bülk in hot weather. I haven’t even had or go full bathtub mode (removing the combi hood for a fully open cockpit.) it’s also possible to remove the front access hatch cover for more airflow. Haven’t needed to do that either. I’m really impressed.
In the Netherlands a pedal powered vehicle may ride not just on 60km/h roads but also on 80 km/h roads (where bicycles may not ride) if it is 75cm or more wide, for the former even if there is a mandatory bicycle path next to that 60 km/h road. So, in case the bülk is that wide then here in NL there would no question, you could ride on the main road. Is there such a law in the US?
I’m not aware of such a law. Certainly I have not seen one when I read the local cycle laws. It would be hard to make that type of law here because we have so few cycle paths.
I was curious about this because of what you stated at ca. 1:30 where you said you were possibly not supposed to ride on the road, but if there is no real limitation of where you may ride in general in the US, why would you need to use the path then? Is the road a private road?
@@WHS_reviews it is a private road. However, the path runs right next to it with no barrier separating it from the road. It’s nice there’s a path, but it seems like they could have saved money by just letting people use the road instead.
I should also add that you’ll only really see a notable speed increase at higher speeds. At normal cruising speeds riding with a race hood doesn’t gain much. On a mountain descent though…there you will see a noticeable difference in speed.

Yes. You can change the front chainrings to something lower, replace the rear cassette to something like 11-40, or install a schlumpf drive.
