Yeah, I love his line delivery. "What a ridiculous comparison!" He says it with such undisguised disdain. And the comment he made about how he thought his first meeting with Starlight went 'great' because he got to put her in a burlap sack cracked me right up! Lmao!
Personally I really enjoyed this episode. The problem with the changelings being underdeveloped is mostly to them being a side story in a show with limited number of episodes. I'd love to see them appear more in the comics. I also really enjoy Thoraxin this, or as I like to call him "King Dork" - he was more or less chosen to this role in a way much more random than even Twilights ascention by magical explosion but he seems to be holding on. I also would like talk about him specifically at some point. I think my thoughts on Pherynx were best presented in the titlecard X3>
Thank you. I may have figured out how the changelings survived long enough to put their next plan into action. Of course, this was back when they were under Chrysalis' poor leadership. They fed off the love that nature provided. Of course , we don't know how nature CAN provide love FOR them to survive, but here we are. Rarity proved it herself in the season finale at the garden. There's beauty in everything, so I guess this is how they did it.
I like the brother's design better than the others. He looks he is part of same species as the original changelings. The dark color scheme fits better. Now I just wish we see more dark colored changelings. If they are fairies then get dark ones
For someone who was pissed earlier, you did a pretty good job keeping yourself together Countess. Anyway Thorax and Pharynx were without a doubt the best part of the episode, and yeah I can see that yin and yang thing going on with them. As for the rest of the changlings overall I don't have much of an issue. Yeah their color schemes are a bit odd but there nowhere near as bad as the rainbow power forms or rainbow rocks. My theory on why they acted they way the did is they simply wanted to distance themselves as far as possible from who they used to be. As for Starlight, yeah I'm a fan but even I facepalmed at some of her antics. That said yeah she was somewhat hypocritical but she tried to correct herself soon after. Let's not forget how her last episode A royal problen told her that going with her gut feeling was the right move. As for her self confidence back when she was starting a cult, lets not forget how she was able to start that cult in the first place: MAGIC.
2 things 1.I think Fluttershy and Tree Hugger Should have been the Problem Solvers in this episode 2.I wish this, like most world building episodes, had a 44 minute runtime
9:13 i like it as it is as it feels more personal and less "obligational". like you said they wanted to visit a friend not speak to a friendship client. it holds a different kind of weight.
I've always assumed that there were more changelings who still followed Chrysalis or at the very least left the hive refusing to follow Thorax's way ore even Chyrsalis's way. Also, I'm sure there are other Changelings that we don't know about that simply don't care about pony kind or as violent. It's something they could explore on.
When did Countess get new vectors? They're pretty cool. Yeah for me this is Starlight's weakest showing this season for me because like you Tricky, I felt she was hit with the idiot stick. I think she's been hanging out with Twilight too much. This is definitely a forgettable episode for me too, with only the stand out part being the ending. I've always liked the new changeling designs, but I will say that Pharynx has the best design. FYI, did ya'll know the VA for Pharynx is the same as Bright Mac? Talk about a complete shift in tone and character lol. I love this guys diversity.
Zodia195 I got them a couple of weeks ago. Charred Knight did them and I love them!!! First video they’ve been used in too. Bill Newton the VA for Pharynx is really cool, got to be on a King of Limbo with him. Great guy yo talk with.
Aww that's cool. Yeah if I had the money I get new vectors of my OC too. I am grateful Bast13 made mine for free, but there are a few errors to it, like the purple part of Pristine's mane is darker and her mane style is slightly off. But seeing how I not focus on video making at the moment, it's not a priority.
This is just me wondering, but is Chrysalis even an actual changeling? Cause she looks more pony than insect, something other female changelings aren't. Honestly, I'd like an answer to why.
What annoyed me the most is that Thorax doesn't use his mandibles in the fight. Don't give a character stag beetle mandibles if he's not going to use them.
Maybe, like Pharinx, they cared about the hive and wanted to stay with the collective. They just disagreed on how to live and what the hive should represent. I don't mean to get political, but that's not far off from what Americans and other peoples are facing these days.
Yay countess rose is here. Well done you guys! Thatincs had became my new husbondo in his personality and did design in pre and reformed. I agreed that thorax had definitely shown his growth in this episode.
In a way, just my thoughts, there might be 3 different types of changleng(sorry if mis-spelled) starved, feed(no holes in the legs or wings) and what I call "mutant" changleng, the ones we have now.
@@TrickyFox93 I guess. But I guess what I mean for "feed" is stronger and more intelligent, possibly able to have a free will. I don't know I just get the feeling that there not suppose to be like that, they seem to be very weak in that form. But this is just me rambling. 😛
Starlight pulled a “Twilight”.......again. See previous season for more details. You’d think she would’ve learned not to take the easy way out (like using magic to solve everything), or not thinking the plan through before acting on it.
Imma just put my two bits in cause I have recently found this video lol. I am personally fine with how the changelings behaved in this episode. First let’s go back to the normal changelings; they were *mean*, they were *fiercesome warriors*, and they were *love sucking monsters*. After their transformation into “good”, I think they believed that if they acted any way like they used to they might change back. Because of this belief, they became hippies and had safe-spaces to be as far away as they used to be and Pharynx doesn’t like that. He used to be respected by a terrifying hive and now their nothing more than shallow by using all this lovey dovey stuff to hide what they really feel, fear of turning back. Pharynx first tries to turn them back into the “evil” changelings and Starlight tries to help him at least give the reformed changelings a backbone. She finds the mole thing (I honestly can’t spell for the life of me so that’s what I’m calling it) and has Pharynx fight it and hopes for the other changelings to help. (I also agree that her giving up was way out of character). When the reformed changelings show up and help defeat the mole thing, both the changelings and Pharynx realize that they, like other creatures, can still share love while being able to fight. So Pharynx agrees to share his love, knowing that it will never change his personality and how he lives his life. The reformed changelings on the other hand also realize that they don’t need to live in fear of changing back to their old selves if they ever acted mean or fought, it just depended on if they could share their love or not. So they most likely dropped the hippie act and lived as normally as they could by accepting their past while also working towards a better future. That’s just how I feel about this episode. I like to analyze things so if you took this episode at face value then it does seem like a failed attempt to show the changeling culture. But if you dig below the surface you realize that the old changeling culture was purely based off of stealing love and serving the Queen. Now the Queen is gone and they know how to share love so...what now? They are to scared of turning back that they try hobbies to distract themselves from their past and safe-spaces to hide their true feelings. So this episode was a pretty good watch if you think about it this way but it could have also been written with the same intention as you two thought and I could be grasping at straws lol. So I hope people somehow made it through my text block but thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
The color changeling just drove me nuts cuz I'm like "YOU'RE A LITERAL SHAPESHIFTER! SHUT UP!" XD The idea of trying to apply transgenderism to a shapeshifter makes me giggle so much.
I know this is 5 months late but, whatever! I was hoping the changlings would be like the fae. They are powerful fairies, but very mischievous. They can't lie, but are masters at bending the truth. Maybe after they have been reformed for a while and figure their new country out....
The monsters had been driven away by the Changelings under Chrysalis, and only started coming back because there was more than just Changelings. I don't mind the new Changeling designs as deer bugs, but we DO need to see more non-hippy Changelings. And more non pastel changelings. ESPECIALLY more non pastel, living outside the Hive changelings. And yeah, we need much less Idiot Ball moments in MLP.
My biggest problems with this episode stem from Starlight and Trixie’s portrayals. As mentioned, I felt like Starlight gave up way too quickly. Trixie also seemed a bit more bitchy than usual. They do work really well of off one another, but still, I think this is probably one of Starlight’s weakest appearances to date. Thank GOD for Uncommon Bond.
I need some help I'm making a changeling oc that's asexual coded but with how changelings work in mlp I'm not sure how to do that does anyone have any suggestions?
Phohrax is the best part if the episode btw I hope queen crysalis changes them back but they fight her and not transform back to that pastel fairy form but still be good
Starlight is a sociopath, they aren't exactly known for being good planners. In fact Starlight's previous evil plans lacked forethought after all she doesn't know what the Wonderbolts are and after following Twilight and her friends for weeks or months or whatever she somehow did not know erasing them from the timeline would destroy equestria? Yeah she was actually never smart only ever led by her petty and childish emotions. Seriously every season she has been in has shown she is more immature and child like then the CMC and Rumble. Oh one last thing, notice how Thorax and Pharyanx are the only Changeling's that actually shapeshift in this episode? Thats a tad odd isn't it? I think aside from the royal brothers they CAN'T shapeshift anymore.
Casey Clark well there was talking about changing their colors. I think they can shapeshift but decide to handle it as themselves. Like being free and open by not changing anymore when they don’t want to. Seems they want to be strong without borrowing other forms. Like they saying to themselves we may be changelings but we can be strong without shifting.
Well that did not work out at all, also Thorax still shapeshifts all the time so why don't they for say art projects? Also they admitted they were weak why not use stronger forms for that context of battle?
Everyone watching: this has been unfairly demonetized! Please help Tricky Fox get 1000+ views (1200+ if you take into account the views prior to the demonetization) so UA-cam will manually review, and likely, remonetize it. You need at least 1000 views within a week long time period in order to qualify for manual review by the YT team. Let's go for 1200 by Halloween day.
I don't like the new form, I happy that there good but they use to be such good fighters and now act weak, I like the old form, i think they can be good, good fighters and keep the same form.
the fact you said you don't get your third tail till you go in a monster like those moles :P sorry if I read to much in to it I tend to do that on accident
I love Pharynx, he became my favorite character in the show for.. personal reasons. Let's just say I understand how he feels..
Yeas! Pharynx looks soo cool!
Yeah, I love his line delivery. "What a ridiculous comparison!" He says it with such undisguised disdain. And the comment he made about how he thought his first meeting with Starlight went 'great' because he got to put her in a burlap sack cracked me right up! Lmao!

Ever seen a queen bee or ant? Much larger than the rest of the hive.
I'd like to see Twilight and Trixie be called by the map.
Nothing against hippies! They usually have weed! :D
I actually love the episode.
Its nice to see more of these guys and I love this episode way of dealing with family relation.
What annoyed me the most is that Thorax doesn't use his mandibles in the fight. Don't give a character stag beetle mandibles if he's not going to use them.
They are used, for magic

eh the point the show made is that changelings before they were reformed were always hungry -so there is no "feeded" type so to speak
@@TrickyFox93 I guess. But I guess what I mean for "feed" is stronger and more intelligent, possibly able to have a free will. I don't know I just get the feeling that there not suppose to be like that, they seem to be very weak in that form. But this is just me rambling. 😛
How could the changelings change? It is called free will. Something they never had before under the queen rule.
Starlight pulled a “Twilight”.......again. See previous season for more details. You’d think she would’ve learned not to take the easy way out (like using magic to solve everything), or not thinking the plan through before acting on it.
Is that the Lost Woods theme I hear in the back ground?
yeah, i thought it kinda suits the reformed changelings
Awesome.
I have an Changeling Oc. He is my main oc. He is taller and has different colors. But I like the new Changelings.
2:01 No, it wasn't because of Ember - it was because of lazy writing. Heyoooo!
