I got a brand new box of COPIC Ciao markers! Yay! In this video, I open the brand new set of 36 markers and test each color. Do you guys use the COPIC Ciao markers?

Ok. As a 1 year update - I am aware they are refillable. This video was made 1 year ago when I first got into the Copic & UA-cam world. Hence, I was a noob at everything. 😅
(The art store employee told me at the time that they were not refillable. I've since learned that they are).

Its okay it's not your fault. Also. Just a tip. Instead of buying the refill kit with the plyers thingy and just let the ink drip onto the end you use least so it will run down. Put paper underneath the other side and stop once it had dropped out once
of course they are refillable. all copics are refillable.
+ im not sure if you took the right side of the copic paper or if its the quality , but the colors dont look as vibrant as im used to. probably first things the case.

taniichan, Incorrect. The Copic multiliner is not refillable. Just before you mention the Copic multiliner isn't copic, it is.
they just have less ink, that's why they're cheaper ^^

That and they are round so they roll unlike sketches which stay on the surface. Over all though I think copic ciaos are totally worth it! They are cheaper yet there is barely a difference! 💕
@LunarFoxArt your friend must have had a bad set or something but the only difference is the shape and amount of ink. So you're wrong
But you can refill soooooo SAVE YO MONEY BISHHH
Congrats on getting some copics. I strongly advise that you do NOT store them in that box. Markers can dry up when stored vertically (I have personally had that problem with some copics). They can also end up leaking from one end when you use them, possibly ruining your art piece. For the past two years, I now store my copics horizontally and I've had no more problems with drying out. I use a cheap make up container to store them now. Enjoy your new copics!
Aha! That explains the ink I have been noticing in some of my caps! I was suspicious and was wondering if I was making a mess by accident. I think I will build a shelf thing to organize them on my desk. Thanks for the tip!
Copic workers said it doesn't matter how you store them. They said those accidents won't happen.
You can still leave them in the case just turn them on their side to make it horizontal

They are refillable :) They do not hold as much as sketch so you have to refill more often. The upside is that they are more economical.
I have a good mix of ciao and sketch.

They are refillable they use the sketch ink
All copics are refillable... Except the dark grey multiliners.

They are indeed refillable using the various ink refill thingy. Hoping to get some of these for Christmas ♥️
purple is my fav colour too! it was yellow at first but the first time i considered purple, was when i saw a beautiful flower that was a lilac. now my fav colour is lilac or pastel purple!
Literally I think I might be the only one who prefers copic ciaos over the copic sketches

I want to buy copics but I'm very far from any copic store, so I decided to buy them online on Amazon and I can't buy the refilled items too so I want to ask who has more ink than other ? I want to buy ciao but they say that they have less ink ! Should I buy sketch ?

Buy a couple ciaos to try them out and if you like them get the sketch , the sketch and the caios are the same besides the fact that caios hold less ink

pros: 1 pastel colors 2 refillable 3 fells expensive (they are) 4 buy them individually

My Hubby just got me the 36 basic set for my birthday. I'm so excited to try Copics for the first time! oooo the wait is going to kill me x.x
the markers are refillable the ciao, sketch, original, and wide all use the same ink. ciaos usually hold less link and they are rounded. while sketch, original, and wide have a more of a oval shape. the ciaos where made for more beginners because they say it has a smaller barrel and the caps if someone sallowed they would have a small space to breath still. i hope this helps!
Thanks so much for this video! Im trying to convince my parents to let me get good quality alcohol markers and I've always wished to have copics. Hopefully this video might give them an idea of what copics are like because they dont like paying so much money for such small supplies.

You can refill a sketch marker 10 times per various refill and 15 for ciao.You need to put the refill at an angle and do a drop at a time on the chisel/broad tip.You can let it drip to the other end or just think it is enough ink☺️

Haunted In PA but the colors kind of bleed like spread and its kind annoying becuase of the paper type. I have copics but it's hard to get used to. the ink is also not very opaque. I still love copics though.
Personally, I wouldn't go for it. Copics are very expensive and aren't very good for small areas.

Where did you get your copic markers?
i have 2 copic ciaos from a 30th anniversary set and i love them i have only had then for aboutt a week so they still wook good!!!
I have the same set of ciao markers and I love them so much. Since I find the color range pretty small , I decided to buy the 72 piece B set of the sketch markers. I ordered them and I'll be waiting impatiently for them to arrive. Meanwhile I have nearly all 72 Winsor&Newton Brushmarkers (just 6 lacking) which I also highly recommend as a Copic alternative. They are not refillable, but they are so much cheaper. At the art store I go to here in Belgium they cost €3,25 individually and their inks are just great.
Does the Caps come off kind of hard or pretty easy
Copic Ciaos, hold less ink, don't have the colour names on the end of the caps, have a round barrel and only have 180 colours available. However, they are refillable, have replaceable nibs, and the same grey band to indicate the brush tip, just like the sketch. The sketch has over 300 colours which is why more people go for them. If anybody is interested in copics, that's pretty much all there is in difference.
I would recommend getting the Ciaos to start out with, and if you're going for the complete set of all the copics, get the 180 Ciaos and fill in the rest with the Copic Sketch. Unless you have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or anything like that, then the sketch is for you and you can own them all exactly the same.
Is there a blender marker included?
I use these to and I love it but I have only 22 of them.I can't buy me so much these were the old from my brother because I am only 11 but they are genius!

I just got the set of 24 I guess two days ago and I did test how they look on paper but I'm very excited to work with them but right now I'm going through youtube videos to know how exactly they work and if they're different from the touch markers which I already used on few artworks earlier

Ciao is for hello and goodbye in Italian. I also found copics ciao hilarious because of that. Like instead of saying "ciao" to my friend, I sent her a foto of my copic 😂

Congrats, but i was just wondering. I also have an ultramarine along with 16 more copics, but my ultramarine is very dark compared to yours. I'm just confused on why.

I don’t know if the person at the store lied to you, or if you’re just confused, but the cipic CIAO are REFILLABLE. Just like the copic sketch and classic, copic ciao are refillable. The only difference between cipic sketch and ciao are that ciao is smaller.
They have less ink but they are refillable! Copic sketchs can be refilled 10 times but copic ciao’s can be refilled 15 times so it’s not that bad

I am getting it for my birthday. They are Copic Ciao 72 set A and copic ciao 36 set A :)
That paper doesnt seem great because when you draw on it it turns like dark like the paper is shaving off
Some users commented letting me know that I may have been drawing on the backside of the paper. I was new to all of this marker work at this time, so this could have been the reason. But now I know better :) The marker looks really good when you draw on the correct side of the paper.
the Copic markers (ciao) have a little bit less ink and they are not as fancy

@Brushes and Bunnies I’m trying to find a copic pack to spend with my pocket money any help? Which one do you suggest I get for a starter pack? I’m struggling with finding some I found a 6 pack for £22 which is the cheapest one but I’m not sure what colours to go for it’s so tricky 🙂☺️😊 @Brushes and Bunnies it’s so hard to choose which one to get 😂
I would recommend getting the basic set and skin tone set.
Is the brush tip soft and is there a way to get just the grays
+Ruby Leaflin yes brush tip is very soft. You can buy each color individually and they sell sets of 5 copic ciao on amazon. I've seen both cool and warm gray sets

The ciaos are actually refillable, they just hold less ink and have a different shape. The only major differences between the ciao and sketch are the shape, the cost, and that the sketch can be used with the airbrush system

nice video :D Ich weiss nicht welches Copic marker papier du benutzt, aber das Copic marker papier was ich habe hat 2 verschiedene Seiten eine ist glatt und darauf verschmieren die marker und die andere ist rauer und genau fürs benutzen der marker, bei dir auf dem Blatt sieht das irgendwie merkwürdig aus und die farben sind eigentlich kräftiger :3 hast du vielleicht die falsche Seite des Blattes benutzt ? :3

So Uhm I just got my dad to order me some fillers for the markers and as I soon as I hear “ they aren’t refillable.” My heart sank. Now idk if they are or aren’t, so someone please tell me.

I honestly don't like the Copic paper. I love for markers Bristol board and smooth, white cardstock. Also, I think you would love Creasent rendr (that's the way it is spelled) SketchBook. It is amazing and they have a very unique technology that you can draw with markers on both sides and the paper doesn't bleed at all. Try it I think you would love it! I know you're new to things so if you have any art questions, let me know.
The upper square tray that holds the tops of the markers, you can flip over the top cover and place the tray inside, thus creating another 36 spaces for more markers. : -)

but personally i would waited and tested the markers out myself first or watched a couple of videos by Baylee Jae because she is a very skilled Copic artist and would recommend her for any Copic art video's ,

i’m pretty sure you used the wrong side of the paper ones smooth and the other has a plastic like sheen against it. when you use the wrong side it’s lighter and doesn’t dry properly.
I came to see the difference of ciao nib because I use the scetch, but I have to admit, she is really pretty.
Ciaos are refillable. They can be refilled 12-15 times
why do i keep seeing white dots in the ink? the paper is even made for the marker..
There were some people in the comments that let me know that I was probably drawing on the wrong side of the paper. I was also confused at the beginning. (I didn't even know there was only one side to draw on)
U can use the copic various ink on all copics plus the caio are cheap
If your looking for a nice light sky/baby/pastel blue you can try Phthalo Blue B23!

I think.. but I am not sure.. I think the way these markers were stored, is that they were stored up right for a long time in the store.. and that you needed to lay them flat for a while. so the ink get balanced.. some of them are kinda light..
