- Exploring Downtown Honolulu, the capital city of Hawaii. We'll explore the Capitol District, Central Business District, Chinatown, and the Waterfront.
The Capitol District, or Civic Center, contains most of the federal, state, and city governmental buildings and is centered on the Hawaiʻi State Capitol, ʻIolani Palace, and Honolulu Hale (city hall).
Centered on Bishop Street and Fort Street Mall, the central business district is roughly bounded by Nuʻuanu Avenue, Nimitz Highway, Richards Street, and Vineyard Boulevard. This area contains most of the headquarters buildings of Hawaiʻi-based companies and most of the skyscrapers.
Located between Nuʻuanu Stream and Nuʻuanu Avenue, Chinatown at one time was the center of Chinese cultural contact on the island.
Honolulu's waterfront area centers on Aloha Tower, which was once the tallest building in Hawaiʻi and where cruise ships would dock before the advent of air travel between Hawaiʻi and the U.S. Mainland. Recently, cruise ships between the Hawaiian Islands now dock at Honolulu Harbor.

My favorite state of the U.S.
Hi from Turkey. I was randomly looking at Honolulu streets in street view on google earth. At one point I wanted to watch a walking tour video. I clicked on the first video (this video) that came across on youtube. It started right where I was in street view on google earth. It can't be that much of a coincidence. I've never been to Honolulu. I don't know the city at all. there must be thousands of streets but I clicked right on this spot.

I first went to Honolulu Hawaii in 1975 with my mother and a friend of hers for a one week vacation. We had a blast, and to think that one year later I would return to Honolulu as a United States sailor. On our way to WestPac Cruise 1976/77. Then again in 1978 and 1979. And on a different Navy ship in 1983 and 1984, and haven't been back ever since. Hawaii is a beautiful paradise state.
How many memories that we have from this place......thank you so much that you remind us the plenty of beauties from this country!!!!

Nice, beautiful. If only other cities in our country could look like this.
Not exactly the most realistic perspective. This only shows the tourist areas. Honolulu has the highest amount of per capita homeless in the country. We have tent cities in many areas. And abandoned buildings and crime in many areas. While Honolulu is beautiful, our state government does a very good job hiding the many problems and keeping them away from popular tourist areas. There's a lot of much nicer and better off US cities.

Whats the best island for sight seeing/relaxing? Not for shopping or anything too touristy. Any recommendations welcome! Thank you :)
Any of the other islands besides Oahu. I mean I live on Oahu and there is stuff to sight see and places to relax, but you need to stay away from the Downtown and Waikiki area if you want to really relax. Otherwise the metro area of Oahu is literally a mini- Los Angeles. My personal recommendation is Maui.
