Next time i recommend use HTS-2000 (Aluminium Repair Brazing Rod) for the intake , You don't need to get the parts Very Hot for the Rod to repair. Look the stuff up , VERY Good!! And i used it for a lot of small engine repairs.
i learned on lawnmower engines and two strokes engine, i love air cooled engines so much, i own a VW that's pretty quick, but a money pit.. lol. love ur channel. i appreciate you.
@Red Beard's Garage I ran across your channel watching videos on the build I'm doing with my son. I am very happy how you break down the info for your viewers. Keep up the great work.
WHOA new mic? that sounds GREAT!!! i have missed a few episodes, so i dont know if this is the first with the mic, but heck yeah, production level shooting straight up!
Absolutely love the road to hp series! Congratulations to lonnie! I’m really interested in the balanced rotating assembly. I have a mb200 and I’m currently building the 196 clone engine to be a high rev. I’m most likely going to buy and build a 224 soon. Thank you for all the great videos and God bless you as well!
The crankshaft endplay will be tighter with all the bolts installed. You need to install all the bolts and torque them down before you check endplay or your measurements will be off
I would say it's a little bit past its extended life cycle of abuse definitely cheaper to get a used one and yeah I like whatever you first it's all interesting educational if you posted I'll watch it for the most part
Love to see a mini bike drag race series as it would be affordable to most people on a budget maybe 3 class types for engine size etc. Big blocks yes 👍
awesome bikes love the channel... which handlebars are the PRO TAPER on Lonnies bike I didn't see them on the parts list Would you have a link or size & Part number by chance thx for all the great content and good clear videos
I would love to see a build aimed at the budget user getting as much as possible for as little as possible and see what it can produce, ie starting with a 212cc non-Hemi, fitting a Billet rod, Hemi flat top piston, a fire .265 cam (as it's the biggest of the cheaper cams). 26lb springs with the rest of the valve train being stock except for porting, (maybe with sandpaper rather than spending money on tools to do it) and a knockoff Mikuni 22mm carb, as for flywheels... I would like to see how using keys to both advance and retard timing on a flywheel that has 30degrees nominal, & see how that effects the torque curve. (so test it at 28, 30 and 32 degrees to see what effect it has)
you wanna see budget? hemi 212. stock cam. PVL FW, ported head. .010 HG. amazon chikuni carb. thats it. I flat rock my buddy's 196 flat head that has cam, piston, rod, fw, springs, etc. ***its all about that torque band***
Incorrect, It cost way more than it should have as the freight to get the Parts to NZ is more than the parts. The engine ran great, till I cipped a wall and bent my frame. but there is no body else running modified clones as the parts are not available here, so there was no one to race against and compare the engine to, just people with Lifan 163FML's etc... as for no money... well after spending $1040 on tools today, that is actually 1/2 right@@NubsWithGuns
The 224 surely will express its HP more into torque rather than RPM, which is a lot more efficient and produces less heat, than a 212 of same HP running at higher RPM with slightly less torque. The 224 DuKe-Car Sprinter Mini Bike For The Win !!!
What clutch you running ? I'm building a Speedway mini with 14 inch knobbies. Using comet oem have sec. Clutch reversed which now the belt won't work. Although in 73 74 they used the comet but must be different
I've got a predator 212cc predator hemi motor I removed the Governor from the motor added a torque unit and a performance muffler and I had it at 74 mph yesterday in a minute flat
It seems like your motor with a conventional head would make a little more compression than the hemi head on Lonnie’s bike. Bet yours makes more cranking compression. If the cams were swapped, they might be an even compromise. The only way to make them equal would be to weld up the hemi chamber or add a domed piston. Wish I could find an old bullfrog pop up for my Ducar. I’ll have my head back soon, beautiful port job and Ferrea blanks made into 29.5/26 valves. Don’t think a 70mm bore needs anything bigger right?
You mentioned in the video that "You liked Lonnie's Tires better".. I checked the links list and no tires mentioned. So, What tires are on Lonnie's bike?? Thanks
My new in the box Predator 212 Hemi had that crap in their through the first few oil changes. About 10 hours apart, breakin and then first ones plus one more, I never count the break in change since that has to be done regardless. On the third it looked like oil but awful crappy for the time it was in there. From what I gather it takes more than the initial break for these engines to really settle in.
Could you skip buying a GPS side cover and spend that money on balancing the crankshaft? That seems to be a better solution for vibration and reliability! ✌🇺🇸
In light of the enactment of the California SORE act this past January 1st in 2024, lets see what people can do to come into compliance with the new law prohibiting the sale of spark ignition small off road engines rated at 25 horse power and less. TL;DR lets see some more 26 Horse and diesel bike builds!
Road to HP has been my favorite thing on UA-cam since it started. The 224 with the .265 cam seems like a great all around setup.
I'm leaning towards the 224, for the little bit of price difference it makes sense.
But they were out and I didn't have an engine for my bike lol.
Next time i recommend use HTS-2000 (Aluminium Repair Brazing Rod) for the intake , You don't need to get the parts Very Hot for the Rod to repair.

It's good to have a real minibike Monday again! Congrats Lonnie

Where did you get that aluminum sleeve you used to install the piston in the block?
I found it on ebay. Just search your bore size and there about $20

Road to horse power is an excellent series
Always love your videos man. Congratulations Lonnie on the new addition, blessings to you and yours.
Congrats lonnie. Redbeard do you have to cut pockets on a non hemi 212 to use dual springs?
No sir they will work without modification.
Love to see a mini bike drag race series as it would be affordable to most people on a budget maybe 3 class types for engine size etc. Big blocks yes 👍
We will try to work that in sir.
Work hard,play harder!
Get the jb weld that comes in plastic tube it's like soft putty you just knead it till its gray I bet it'll work I use it all the time
cant wait till the big block series!!!
Congratulations Lonnie and wife.
Congratulations Lonnie!! What kind of tires you running on the blue bike ?
There some from Amazon. I will add them to the parts list.

They both have stock handle bars I just added a cross brace on them and bought the pad on Amazon.
Keep it up! Love the comparison between the two bikes! Well done RBG

Waiting for that Ep. 8 Brother. Great series
Did you gear both bikes down or just yours?
You know I cant remember. That of course would make a huge difference. I will check and if they are different we will make them the same and re race.
what tires are you talking about? the sun-f? also what size? thank you! nice builds
Yes the Sun-f 19"
What are the speed rating? Kinda gets me nervous around 50-60
Road to horsepower YEAHH!!!
Heck yeah boys lets go!!

Where can I get that red engine stand that you were using in this video when you were tearing that engine apart? I've never seen one like that.
How much oil does that 212 build take? I know it's a dumb question
Those are both nice looking bikes
From what kind of Yamaha bike did you get the blue fender from? I’m planing on doing the same thing on my bike.
I got them from amazon. Link should be in the video description.
Lonnie's bike sounds like a dirt bike. what exhaust did you guys use on his bike?
Lonnie on RBG’s bike is ridiculously fast especially out of the hole.
What silencer does Lonny have on the blue one? It sounds sweet
What product do you spray on your head gaskets
Super cool and that 224 is the ticket

Saw a Blue Spruce. We had two in MI. Growing up my twin and I planted. They got huge.
Won't grow in this sand pit.

While your in there take that revlimiter out and it'll also increase hp
They don't have a rev limiter. We remove them right from the start.

Honestly yes but I would have both in my opinion
Hey when are you going to do a performance build on the predator 459 cc
are they street legal to ride in cali, with no dl?

WHAT EXHAUST MUFFLER ARE YOU RUNNING I DIDNT SEE IT IN YOUR LIST
sorry for the caps didn't realize i had that on

Aluminum brazing rod might be able to fix the head
I am defiantly going to buy some for things like this.
you forgot to add this video to the playlist
Do you sell the motors to if so I wanna buy one
Put a dab of silicone under the spring guide/shimm (on the top of the whole)
How much power can a stock engine generate??
Oh look, Torque is good. Torque> HP every. single. day.
Yes sir!
