I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like 4c hair has to be treated like fine lace. Now that I did the research to take the time to learn the characteristics of my 4c hair density, porosity texture etc. it makes since why when I was younger I could never retain length. I have fine strands medium density. Because of the fineness it easily breaks. I would love to eventually dye my locs, but I’m not sure I want to deal with what comes with that. Thanks for sharing your a joy to watch!☺️😉
My hair has always been very fragile. So for me I decided to loc it up. The constant straightening chemicals and heat just was too much for my hair especially trying to do it myself because I hated going to beauticians. So for some years I did wigs got tired of that and from utube I learned how to crochet my hair in different styles with fake hair which I loved. Now with my spiritual journey for life I did away with all that stuff and I decided the best thing for me would be to loc it up and I learned how to loc my hair. I am 1 year and a month loc’ed. My hair is to fragile for color. I do keep my hair covered when in public for spiritual reasons and it works for me. When home I let it breathe. The best thing I have found to keep my locs healthy are to moisturize daily and maybe twice a week oil it with growth oils. I shampoo monthly and it works for me. I retwist now monthly. So the best thing for me is to just leave my hair alone other than what I do and I don’t have any breakage. Retwisting will cause breakage if you’re doing it too much at least for me. I love my locs.
I like your comment. I'm following a spiritual journey and I wish to loc my hair cuz first i love it and I want to avoid using wing and extensions. do you have a vlog?
Thank you for all of your words and advice DL. My locked-hair is just a carousel ride up and down I accept at this point. Most of my locks are thick and thin within the same lock. I envy (smile) those who have those locks that are same (thickness) the length of the lock. That will not be my journey but less rubber-bands and over-handling are help. Love your lock color!
Thank you so much for this informative video, Dae! I’m on my second set of locs & I learned so much about my hair with my 1st set. Like you said, bleach was my enemy…I loved the way they looked but hated how they felt very dry. Not going back there…I’ll be a year in with this set in a couple weeks & I’m SO please they are much healthier 🥰
Thank you so much for this video because I’m very cautious of my locs and I like doing different things to it but I’m more aware of things I should try and avoid.
Rubber bands have definitely done a lot to my locs. I try to use different things on them now like scrunchies and all but rubber bands honestly still have their use. Like you said though, using it as little as possible is best.
Omgggggg the ends of my locs from me wearing shells at the end of my locs during my first year !! Some of my ends are skinny like! Hard to explain but sheesh
Personally experienced the horrible effects of rubber bands, putting my locs in a bun all the time and of course the coloring. Really wish I knew these things when I locked my hair the first time. Thankfully I know now and I’ve also learned that less is more when it comes to locals. You’re absolutely right, locs thrive when they’re free.
Learned this around the 15month mark. I loved a style but i started to notice the more i styled the smaller my locs were. So I’m 23mo now I’ve grown to love just a fresh Retwist after 2months and me trying my own simple styles
This video is very insightful. I braided over my love and had it in for 10weeks. On removal it feels really thin now. Was thinking I would have to cut it but someone said if I keep wetting it it might just breathe. What do you advise please. My locs would be 5yrs in January
I wored wigs for nearly a year after I got my locs when I took out my hair for the first time to let it breath I had thinning locs in the front and side near my edges because of lack of retwisting every month

Absolutely! Have fun but you don’t want long term effects

Your video is so clear 😻📸
I love loc talk👸🏽..thank you

Absolutely! I have to find rubberband and tension free styles for when I do want to switch things up
*locs not locals 😁
Thank you for this knowledge! Less is best w/ loc maintenance & manipulation! ➰🤎✨
Agreed! 🤍

Our hair isn’t supposed to be manipulated as much that’s why protective can cause thinning or not allowing it to breathe
watching..thanks for sharing
Look at ur hair omg it’s so beautiful
Hello, I love the color🥰... Could you please tell me the actually color.

Cause the lord don’t want you to put color in your hair, he made it the same color as your natural eyebrows
