Could it have crossed Bach's mind that some 350-400 years later his music would be so accessible and appreciated and more importantly presented and played so beautifully.
Why the hell this woman doesn't have millions of followers? She's an alive representation of music! I'm so proud to say I play the same instrument she plays. I love you Hilary!
She's clean like dayum. And whats more impressive is i dont even play any instrument, i just like music in general and any genre too. Impressive how? I'm not Biased.
You have got to be the most detailed violinist I have ever heard. You kept the tempo nearly consistent throughout the whole time. Not needing to slow down where it was difficult like most players, giving it a sound that can be seen as genuine as the composer intended.
That's a bit over exaggerated. If you slow down because it's difficult and if you slow down in a Bach piece you're definitely not a professional not even a decent musician.
I went through listening to all violinists from the 1900s and recent and for me none of them plays Bach the way Hilary does. Milstein, Oistrakh, Grumiaux, Perlman, Heifetz. So lucky to have these artists playing at my fingertips but somehow I choose to listen to Hilary Hahn EVERY time (when it comes to Bach)
She’s my favourite living violinist and certainly one of the very, very best musicians of all time. I subbed a week with the Atlanta Symphony when she played Prokofiev 1. Rehearsal, dress rehearsal and three performances with encores and not a note out of place or out of character. She might be the greatest dancer ever to play the violin. She understands that instrumental performance is storytelling through music; it is ballet for the fingers. Watching Hilary one can see every phrase of the music that these digital dancers perform somewhere in her body. From her eyebrows to the floor it’s all there and every movement is elegant and beautiful. ❤
One of the tope violinists on the concert circuit today! Wow Wow Wow! Those who have grown up on the violin the last 80 years or know the violin, will be blown away! Robert.
This is what love looks like. A perfect harmony of intent, passion, dedication, integrity and joy. I was very lucky to hear her play Brahms and Stravinsky live many years ago. She was amazing then and has improved significantly. I feel fortunate that she still shares her love of music with the world. Such beauty is rare and such inspiration to great achievement is needed most in times like these.
Opening my eyes: the best violinist playing Bach. Closing my eyes: Ms. Hann! Haifetz? Paganini himself? Joseph Joaquim?...Hilary: you are perfection, outstanding perfection!! Thank you.
@@leesiheon8013 i like song word because it is known by normal people like me, but if you go deeper you will realize that playing an instrument is nothing more than singing a melody through it, there are many musicians who sing while playing, like this video of clara jumi kang ua-cam.com/video/kuC7Km_3cOo/v-deo.html

I grew up with, Szeryng and then Perlman my favorites. I have to say she is on their level at least. This is how Bach is to be played, with passion and drive and of course intonation. Every note is paid attention to. I have noticed my favorite violinists are the ones that play Bach well, it makes their performance of everything else so great. I love her Sibelius and of course everything else. Her pure intonation in Bach makes it so vital and alive, just terrific of my favorite Corrente and the great double here. All single notes Bach does everything, bass, inner voices, soprano, turns them upside down and inside out while following the harmony of the Corrente. I just marvel at this movement and it is played here like Bach himself.
Incredible precision and musical sensitivity. Everything is perfectly crystal clear. And while making it look too easy for her! Absolutely exceptional playing. Bach would approve 👏👏👏👏👏
This is gorgeous! I can next see Hilary in a forest with gentle sunlight streaming across her face wearing a crown with flowers in her hair and a beautiful gown as she plays
I am loving this video more and more. At first I thought the gigue should be played also so it is complete. But now I think for 3.5 minutes of Bach this is just perfect, all single notes giving us everything, I am struck by the humor Bach shows with his inversions and upside down tricks. This is played so perfectly, so full of life and verve, her dancing is great too, it is like Bach is flowing thru her making all of her move to it.
@Ballstavius Deadeyes No, a subjective feeling is not the same as objective reality. I am a scientist. As far as we can tell based on the evidence, there is no god like the one Bach imagined, but I can feel his music and understand what he wanted to transmit. But no god, I'm afraid.
I love you Hilary Hahn ❤️ you always sound so beautiful and elegant! I also play the violin too and I strive to be as good as you. Your vilolin playing inspired me and I'm obsessed with classical music and want to play it myself. I love you!!❤️🤗👍

Nothing will describe better the depth of the emotions rocking my soul than the 2 silent tears slowly rolling down my cheeks. And no, I'm not sad. Just moved in a way that nothing else could express.
Hey there. I'm 13. I play the piano. I have never touched a violin in my life. I came across her name by coincidence. But my God, even I can tell, this is AMAZING.
Listening on a Sennheiser open-back... Every crisp note in this fantastic performance is making me happy. I need this not to end, every time I rehear it.
You'd go insane if this played nonstop. Better is hear it again in a couple of years on a special occasion with a special setting. Starve urself then come back, it'll taste noice?
The way she walks off afterwards makes me think of her as like a magical little elf in the middle of the woods does something amazing walks off, with no one as an audience and no one really ever sees it but just the FeElS. Like a myth........like a lingling

I have been watching and listening to Hilary Hahn for some time now, as she has grown physically and musically, and I feel she is really something very special. Her fluidity of expression, phrasing, assured intonation, and apparent effortlessness when playing, is remarkable, and something to behold. She has become my favourite interpreter of the Bach Partitas / Sonatas for solo violin. But when I hear her play the Brahms or Sibelius violin concertos, and others, I feel she is just as brilliant when interpreting classical and romantic music. I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that Ms Hahn may well be this era's female Jascha Heifetz. And no...I am not kidding. Thank you Hilary for sharing your great gift (and hard work!) with us lesser mortals !
it's all about the bow hand for me. She's so smooth that it looks like she's not even moving. Her right shoulder barely moves. The picture perfect technique. Her right hand and wrist glide and you can almost hear the whisper of spiccato. Gives each note that crisp definition yet its softness lets the air resonate and connect to the following note.

I wish I could play too. Lots of websites dedicated to music (and violinists themselves) agree that adults can, in fact, learn the violin. From what I gathered, what makes it complicated is that either you tell yourself you can't, so you don't, or you think you should use your time for something else, so you don't practice enough. It's never too late! For me though? My walls aren't soundproofed enough for me to learn the violin x) I need to move first

Could it have crossed Bach's mind that some 350-400 years later his music would be so accessible and appreciated and more importantly presented and played so beautifully.
It's not quite that old yet. He was only born 335 years ago. I remember recently his Brandenburg concertos turned 300

True true. She’s legit a machine. When I hear her, it’s like I want to put my violin through the wall. So good it’s discouraging. Like wth(heck).
She's clean like dayum. And whats more impressive is i dont even play any instrument, i just like music in general and any genre too. Impressive how? I'm not Biased.
I wonder, how many tens of thousands of hours it took her in practice to reach this point?
You have got to be the most detailed violinist I have ever heard. You kept the tempo nearly consistent throughout the whole time. Not needing to slow down where it was difficult like most players, giving it a sound that can be seen as genuine as the composer intended.
That's a bit over exaggerated. If you slow down because it's difficult and if you slow down in a Bach piece you're definitely not a professional not even a decent musician.

It's hard to explain, but for some reason this performance had me crying. It's just so stunning.
There is never any overemphatisation in her play. It´s just the purest form of delivery. Nothing but respect and love for her.

Kind of not surprised to see you here. You play the violin relatively well. Why not live your life doing what you love 𝙖𝙣𝙙 getting paid for it lol.
And we’re “Vuillaume Buddies”!

Not if you're trying to play it...
She is my favorite performer of anything Bach. I feel like her interpretations are the truest way Bach should be played, I love her phrasing.
I greatly enjoy her performance of Bach's works. I listened to her performance of his Chaconne numerous times.
To get through this tough time, all I need is just a playlist of a Hahn playing Bach's.
Good decision. I have listened to her playing Chaconne many times.
Hilary and Bach combined, A THREAT! She is a perfectionist indeed.. all the notes are there, so clear and clean.. she made it sounds easy to listen..
Wow. Brilliant phrasing, articulation and dynamics. And that tone... Would be great to see her in concert.
Totally agree, and I have watched her Sibelius performances many times.
Yes, Bach's humour is there.
I don't usually listen to clasical music and I am an atheist, but with Bach it's totally different: I get goosebumps and can feel god's presence
Baroque music!
@Ballstavius Deadeyes No, a subjective feeling is not the same as objective reality. I am a scientist. As far as we can tell based on the evidence, there is no god like the one Bach imagined, but I can feel his music and understand what he wanted to transmit. But no god, I'm afraid.
This is probably the most beautiful video I’ve ever seen. I’m a violinist. Hillary Hann, you’re like superhuman. ❤️

Music like this transcends time. You hear rock and metal guitarists playing so many notes per second. Well, here is Bach doing it 200 years earlier!
Bach had to wait several centuries to someone who could understand his complicated mind, but then Hillary arrived at this room and got it ,playing by heart with a simple smile ...🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍
Simply the greatest violinist of our time, without doubt.
Mind-boggling. Heart-breaking. Breath-taking. B E A U T I F U L !
Astounding! I can just shake my head in wonder at your skill and ability. Thank you for putting so many hours of your life into practicing and becoming this good! You are a living treasure. We should put you in a museum you are so valuable.
How would I describe it ... Her playing is incredibly elegant, strong and delicate at the same time. Causes some kind of wonderful pain in the soul.
A lifetime is not enough for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach!!!!!!!!
Couldn't agree more !
Literally every note sounds perfect and she makes it look so easy.
Absolutely stunning. Inspiration to all violinists, all musicians, and beyond. Fascinating.🙏
it's all about the bow hand for me. She's so smooth that it looks like she's not even moving. Her right shoulder barely moves. The picture perfect technique. Her right hand and wrist glide and you can almost hear the whisper of spiccato. Gives each note that crisp definition yet its softness lets the air resonate and connect to the following note.
This is crazy. Playing Bach looks easy, but playing it without a mistake is a level of gods and godesses.
Don't be the man who threw his sax into the river after hearing Charlie Parker. Be Paul Desmond instead! Be inspired and influenced but let her mastery encourage you to recommit to your own path. EVERY individual is unique and so is what ever it is you have to contribute to the world. Allow these points of light to take weight off your shoulders, to create depressurization, to enable that unique Buddhist freedom and creativity bestowed only to those who can aspire to be (no body special) Now work even harder but happily 🙏☯️
wtf it's my first time listening to violin music being this clear, feeling like every single note is an open string
The quality of BOTH the video/audio recording, AND the interpretation/performance are just SO SO GOOD. What a gift for us all.

I don't think I can pick up this instrument in my late 30s. :) I play the piano.
It's never too late!

la bellezza "classica"
Soprani e violiniste sul sito della rivista
ALBERTO MATTIOLI
TORINO
