- The original track was created with two tracks of Prophet 5, but I think that the Prophet REV2 can get pretty close 😉
For this cover I used a slightly modified patch made by @CreativeSpiral
you can find it in his soundset for the Prophet REV2: sounddesign.se... (highly recommended!)

⬇️UA-cam algorithm thinks this is the original track⬇️😂
I was 8 when my dad played this in the car a few times. It gave me a feeling of cosmic horror. It was enticing but also scary. Now as an adult it gives me a feeling of comfort and warmth.
Very interesting. It's amazing how much true listening is a creative act and not something passive. how much the listener is also part of the work of art together with the artist.
(I'm glad to read that the cosmic horror phase is over, Sam 😉)
@@nicolaneecowell said…music is nothing without the range of listener reception
Middle class music.
@@brutallyremastered4255 stupid thing to say isnt it
I love how alien the sound is but it’s still warm and inviting.
thanks mate!
only reason the sound is 'alien' is cause filmmakers have been scoring sci-fi movies with synthesizers since they were first invented! Isn't it funny ghosts sound just like a theremin lol
@@mississippijohnfahey7175I never thought about ghosts being associated with that. Makes a lot of sense now!
It’s so intriguing. Sounds like it’s always leading you
Couldn’t have said it better
I fell into a rabbit hole watching like 15 synth covers of this riff and it always felt like something was missing from the tone. But you just nailed it mate!
thank you mate! I love the track, so this means a lot 🙏
i... fell... into a rabbit hole... i fell... into a rabbit holllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllle!!!!
It is haunting. But at the same time it energizes you on a unique level.
You hit it with this description. I usually feel like it's an uplifting mood that energizes. Uplifted from a moment of unsure nature or outright negative or bad and the song starts from there. Assessing the pieces you got left to deal with and you're kinda urged to go, "alright, let's go. Onward is everything."
It is indescribable what I feel listening to that melody
Yes. And that's what makes Thom Yorke's compositions so special. He can paint complex emotions that there are just no words for.
Radiohead have such a great way of making such simple synth patches.
The chords help a lot but it goes to show sometimes simple is the best
totally agree, mate 👍
you really know how to bring it… a wonderful piece of music, beautiful to hear and see performed on synth
Thank you Stijn! I really appreciate the feedback 🙏
I always find it easier counting it in 10 inside of 5
Love your approach, very true to the original. A pianist playing Mozart doesnt need to do "his version", the composer knew what he was doing. So did Radiohead.
Every pianist playing Mozart does "his version" though because, unlike Radiohead, we have no recordings from that time. We don't really, truly, know what "mozart's version" was, and so they all do their best. Also, some of the best pianistic work comes when people think this way, and really re-invent the music, just look at Glenn Gould.
I listened to this album for the first time a few days ago. This track didn't get me at first but I like it more the more I listened to it. Your cover is spot on
thanks mate! Kid A is a masterpiece, in my opinion 😉
What’s the drum app your using?
Absolute perfect rendition. Listened to this three times in a row.
The sound is amazing but what really makes it shine is the chords. So beautifully written!
Been wanting a rev2 for quite a few years now, you’ve reawakened the urge
I Shazam’s this and the actual song popped up
Good job!
Mesmerizing
So good that youtube thought it was the original song 😂
😎
Haha same
Oh man that’s beautiful!
The tone of the synth is very unique and texturous. It's crazy how similar it sounds to the original one, great work mate.
That patch is bang on! Excellent rendition
Best cover of this song on UA-cam.🎉
Thanks for the kind words mate 🙂
@@nicolaneeco ONG man I can listen to this for hours
This has literally always been my favorite song ❤🩹
Absolutely mesmerizing. This is so enjoyable to listen. Thank you for that experience.
Thank you, that's very kind 🙂
Hey Nicola - Thanks for the shoutout regarding the Rev2 patch / soundset :) Great playing / Wonderful cover!
Love your Voice Component Modeling, mate. the synth sounds so much better with it.
Sequential should implement it in the REV2 firmware (and reward you, of course 😉)
Very nice...great work!
Amazing job! You completely nailed the sound of the synth. It sound exactly like the recording! Love your videos!
Thanks for the nice feedback!
J’aime !
best channel on yt
Thks for the kind words Diego, much appreciated!!
😢
Amazing sound and perfomance!
Thank you! much appreciated 🙂
Great cover
my duuuude. nailed it.
Good job here mate! Tone is spot on. I own a Rev2 as well so I might try it out.
Delightful to hear
Amazing sound
Love it
Very nice and steady! I know how to play it but my piano skills aren't developed enough to keep up with the tempo so always make mistakes somewhere, especially when the pattern changes. But it's still fun to practice nonetheless, and one of my favorite Radiohead tracks (and albums). Especially after I saw a UA-camr named "ixi music" analysing the song and how some elements of it might form a deeper hidden meaning :)
great job, sounds identical to me. i'd also be interested in the patch please :)

Glad you like it!
If the world come the an end, I'll play this cover before I die
Yup thats it, great song
love it!
I love this song. It's so weirdly unsettling.
It's because it's in 6/4 4/4 and very syncopated. The timing never really settles. Love it. Probably the most iconic radiohead track for me.
beautifull !
Very well done
Bass movement upon the Phrygian Mode is seldom used in Pop musics.
Very good!
So well played man
thanks mate! 🙏
Love it 👽
Perfect!
nailed it
Excelent!!!
the beginning sounds like something straight out of walle
People seem mixed on whether to play fifths or octaves in the left hand. I have to say I agree with octaves, it's more spacious like the recording. I'll have to compare the recording again.
the original was made with two tracks of prophet5, so it's not so easy to re-create it with one instrument.
I also agree with octaves 👍 I think it sounds better
@@nicolaneeco That's how I play it!
Patterning 2 ❤

thanks mate! I use the Adam A5X speakers and the iLoud MTM
@@nicolaneeco Thank you mate! Will look into it!
@@nicolaneecoOh another question I wanted to ask, what is that tablet like interface you have in the top right for the beat? Apologies in advance, really looking to just get the equipment I want
@@JasonMeem-qv2wl no worries, Jason. it's an old iPad mini. it's running an app called Patterning 2 (a very cool drum sequencer) cheers!
Beautiful. What’s the flashy thing in the upper right hand corner?
hey thanks Sam! it's an iPad mini running an app called Patternig 2 (it's an awesome drum machine and sequencer)
are your patches available anywhere??? i love all your stuff, esp this and the portishead one.
could you maybe try and get the sound of Tinker Tailor by radiohead??
check the comment section of the rip video on my channel, you'll find the patch for the rev2 😉
the patch of everything in its right place it's not mine: I modified a patch made by Creative Spiral. check the desciption of my video for more details
Superb!!! It push me to start to singing XD

What.s the app being used for the beat?
the app is called Patterning 2
What carreer path do I have to go throught to get to where you are?
a lot of time spent listening to music, a lot of time spent playing synths and studying music theory and sound design 😉

Spot on. How I play it - getting as close as I can to the voice with a Casio CDP 360! A Prophet 5 is too serious an investment for me just now. How's the vocals coming along?
Actually, I just want to pick up on something. I learned this from the original score sheet, and that third part that starts with the verse ('Yesterday I woke up' etc) has a chord that I've noticed you don't play on this cover. The verse starts on the Db, then shifts to the C, then to the Cm... but before it shifts back to the Db again (at the point where he sings 'a lemon') there's an Eb7 chord played for one beat (Eb octave in the bass, G Bb Db with the right hand.) It's basically just shifting the little finger from the C up to the Db for that one beat chord
can you do Motion Picture please??? i love ur covers
Dostojevskij smoking DMT
This is so very very close to the sound. I think if you add just a *touch* of sustain you'll have matched it. To my ears, the chords cut *just* a bit too quick.
Thank you for the nice feedback Leonard, I think you are right 😉
Crumar DP-50, not P5....

program 116. when you store a sound it has a number (in this case 116) and a name that you give it (everything in the right place).
cheers and thanks for whatching!
I don't suppose you would share your settings for this patch?
I didn’t make this patch. Check the description of this video to find out where to get it 😉
@@nicolaneeco I bought the creativespiral patches, but it doesn't sound near as close.
Sounds better on the prophet 5. The rev 2 sounds flat.
I think it's because the original was made with 2 Prophet5 😉
Fantastic!!
thanks so much!
