Thank you for the longer video and not skipping all the vital steps and details. I know filming probably double or triples the time it takes to do the project. Appreciate you guys!
Excellent idea and excellent work on the glass doors....I can tell you that the marine grade sealant is stronger than 5 acres of raw garlic. GREAT WORK!
In Indianapolis IN, were building a 2,763 square foot container house with walkout basement! Five bedroom four bath house! For $ 120,000 dollars. Were using seven shipping containers. The shortest container were using is 10 ft and biggest containers were using is 48 feet for most of the sqaure footage! Some of the containers were using is new and some are used.
I'm sooo impressed!! Husband and I are selling our house at 57 & 59yrs old. Researching building a container home on our farm...I applaud U 2. Ur young an so determined, wish I was 25 yrs. younger. I've subscribed so, lead the way young lady😉
Wow, your doors look so elegant and modern, industrial, outstanding work! There is a channel called Seeker, he is almost finished building a huge steel boat, anyway, he goes through a ton of Harbor Freight equipment from welding and paint sprayers and nozzles. He has a pretty comprehensive episode all about their spray nozzles and the hacks to improve them, great guy with real world solutions. One of his tee shirts says welding god, crossed out with grinding god....pretty funny. All your Marine applications are brilliant! Thanks so much for the wonderful episode
Thanks for all the detail - I built a truck camper a couple years ago. I am now shopping for land and working on the container home design. It is hugely helpful to see the practical details such as building the doors - makes me feel that I can do this. I know it will be a long and challenging project, but I will do while I live onsite; one day at a time.
You guys are doing great! If you DO end up being worried about the glass weight busting those seals one thing i thought of that you could do is to cut a few tiny pieces of angle iron, pre-drill some holes in one flange and a hole in the door casing, add some screws to hold it ---super heavy duty & secure! Also, thank you for this longer video on this step! I saw someone use the original doors for glass as well and i planned on doing the same, but you guys actually showed some steps about it which helps greatly
very impressive the the labour different sets of tools thinking process im loving your ideas been thinking about doing a project like this and your video presentation is great well done booooooooom
also you could put LEds inside those long doors handles.. then light beams would shine out the top and out the bottom... you could kinda experiment with it,, see what lighting effects you could do?... be kinda cool?
Are you using tempered glass for the doors? I appreciate the time you take to do quality work and don't skip the "fiddly" work that takes much time for little progress but is the way to ensure your work will stand up to your environment.
Thanks for all the videos... where is the video that shows the overall plan? Is there a video covering that? Are you done with the house? The videos seem out of order?
If you scroll through the playlist titled "Container Build Process" they are in order. We are not finished yet but we are much farther along than it shows in the videos so I am working on catching up to current time!
love the doors gona do mine the same way when i get my container ,my glass will be quarter inch thick tho cuz we dont have glass that thick here in barbados any how love the build and the videos yall keep up the good work and stay safe
Thx so much! The panels are insulated glass (glass/gas/glass) so they are 1” thick total, but each piece of glass is 1/4”.... wow Barbados is an amazing spot! 🙂👍
Looks like a 500k build maybe more. I plan on leaving original metal doors intact, installed / build a recessed standard pre-hung glass door. When close up, it'll be completely lockup.
@@lpc5152 We haven’t done interior work yet but even with that included it won’t be near that price. Again that is because we have done pretty much everything ourselves and shopped around extensively for materials, etc.
Don´t you think that when you lift the containers to be placed in their definitive position they will flex a little bit so the glasses could break? Beside this, I am impressed with the quality of every job you perform. Congratulations!
Thank you! 🙂 The containers definitely flex when they are moved (the more cutouts the more it will flex), although the area by the doors doesn’t flex too much due to the frame being so strong. The doors have about a 1” gap around them where the gasket sits, so they have some ability to move a little bit without damaging the glass. So far we have moved 2 containers this way and no issues.
Hi to you both on the good job you are doing, I'm sorry I never got your name. I just want to ask you the way you weld it looks like you are welder by trade? If yes you save a lots of money to do faster as trade person because welding to thin sheet metal with tube or square steel not easy, because when I was doing Engineering I have to learn how to weld I had so much problems the next two to three days I couldn't open eyes from weld getting flash with the light weld, I had to do the minimum required to finish my classes, but when I came to the west they told me I wasn't using darker glass. After watching your videos & other one I'm thinking to buy land with some containers to build in my own spare time to build something with them for fun, I'm also on the Pacific ocean side but our land here very expensive up north it is not like USA cheaper or I have go way up north close to Alaska, I love cold weather to -24c but not anymore as I was young. One thing I didn't see you, if you weld the bases containers to the metal plates to your foundation because you are in earthquake zone especially if you are close to LA also you are on steep slope land I hope you did, if not, do it, I saw you welded the containers togethers on the inside was very good idea to become one solid also weld where they are sitting on top each other especially in the corners & on every place hold each others with big weld to become one solid peace, because you do have three level, all the best.
Thank you for the longer video and not skipping all the vital steps and details. I know filming probably double or triples the time it takes to do the project. Appreciate you guys!

Thanks for showing all single steps of this process, now I understand it way better! Top work !
Thank you!! Happy to hear that 😊
Great work guys. Good tip is apply paint onto metal. Then apply sealant. Then paint over sealant.
Thank you!! 🙂
I will give you guys a thumbs up for doing such a knock-out job on this container build.
Thank you!! 😊

Happy Anniversary! I can't wait to see your beautiful home finished. Have a great weekend.

This is amazing I am preparing to build a in law unit. This is for sure the option I am going with. Being in the Bat Area the climate is similar

It looks fantastic! And thanks for answering my questions. Much appreciated.

Next time use a washer on the rivet part that expands so when it expands it has a better bite from the washer
Thx for the advice! I will try that 🙂
Shoooow Shoooow magnífico trabalho. Deus abençoe.
Thank you!
The adhesive that is used for installation of car windshields would probably worked as well.
Yeah we looked into that and found some that would work from 3M, but it was $30+/tube which is why we went with M1 Marine instead.

We are way below 500k but that’s mainly because we have done all the work ourselves. That sounds solid! 🙂👍

What type of paint did you use?
How much did your foundation cost?
I have a similar slope I hope to build on

It's tricky because we have 3 separate parts of our foundation, but overall it was around $8k

turn your air pressure up on your rivet gun.
I’m in Pacific Northwest, just wondering where do you buy the custom glass door in Seattle?
We made them ourselves. I have a whole playlist on our channel about how we did it. :)
Shoooow Shoooow magnífico.repetido.
Thx! 🙂
Would this work for a temperate climate? Say around Portland, OR, or where there can be temperatures that dip into the 20's and 10's on occasion?
Yes :)
Thanks for the video. I noticed the panels were propped onto a thin rectangular piece of material, in the steel frame. May I ask why?
It’s a rubber spacer and that’s so the glass panel sits on something flexible and soft. 🙂
@@PacificPinesRanch Does the spacer remain permanently? Where might I find these spacers?
@@r3horst Yes they are in there permanently and you should be able to get them at any local window/door store.
@@PacificPinesRanch Hello again. Which method works best in removing the rivets?
@@r3horst angle grinder 🙂
They look like double-glazed panels?
Yes they are 🙂

Are you guys Canadian???
what brand paint guns broke, were they bought a the same time?
They were two different air spray guns from harbor freight. I can’t remember if we bought them at the same time or not.
Where is that located?
Oregon
far out... 2 paint guns fail in one day..... thats unusual
Every now and then it’s just one of those days 🤷♀️
