Fabulous retrospective look at your level design skills, we all look forward to the day when Unreal Redux is finally finished, until then keep up the great work KrullOr and have a wonderful Christmas and best wishes to all the modding community
Unreal has this magical thing about it where any map you build just always works in its universe. When i was a kid I used to love getting custom maps like this and imagining how they fit into the crazy jigsaw puzzle of unreal's lore. Even though they weren't made by the official developers, they all somehow seem canon. Because of how outlandish everything is in the game, anything is possible. All the maps shown in this video are no exception. I'm sad I never got to experience them during the time of their release, but at least I will for the redux when it finally arrives. Excellent work man.
I can't beleive it. I vaguely remember seeing your name on Unreal custom maps I played in 2001. You are still making maps for it?!!! I'm astonished. I will 100% play your Redux version when it's out in coop.
So, BeyondTheSun was your map? Always asked myself where this map came from, when I installed the latest patch for unreal. I mean, there was a hint already in the mappers name, but I never was completeley sure if it really was you. Its one of the prettiest Unreal maps and one of the best to play on, you are a god on your craft, keep it up man!
Building something looking this tasteful, and on par with what professional devs did, when you were 14? Back then, I would just start making things GIANT and end up finishing nothing Makes me even more excited for Unreal Redux
Thank you very much 🤩 Back then I had no internet. I had no tutorials or documentation how the editor works. I learned everything by trail and error and by looking into the original levels
How beautiful are these worlds mate, well done and thanks for sharing your journey with us. Looking forward to seeing what next year brings with your creativity. Also great music choice, that music is just the icing on the cake and absolutely transports you into these realms. Have a safe chrissy and all the best for the New Year ahead :)
Krullor - I had no idea how familiar I was with your work before this video! Twister2, Raskasaar, Examination, and a few others are all some of my favorite multiplayer maps, and so much so that I'm hosting them on my UT/EXU server RIGHT NOW. Aside from that, it was wonderful to see the evolution of your skills as a mapper and all the ways you not only mastered the use of geometry and stock texture packs, but even started to push the limits of what the engine can do through stuff like Modular. Thanks again for putting this together, looking forward to your upcoming work. (And the angry German UT kid meme was the perfect way to start this video 🤣)
😁 Frohe Weihnachten! 🎄🎅
Ohh, so that map from Descent was yours, I remember! I really liked the bow gimmick, it felt like a proper reference to Tomb Raider somehow, and the environmental storytelling was stellar! Definitely one of the highlights of that mod.
Hi! The Unreal project is amazing! I see that in your website you’re almost done with reworking all the maps! I’ll be happy to do a Gameplay on my channel once the project is done! And i would be happy to receive upcoming news of how the project is going on! Thank you for what you’re doing! ❤️
@@SighiTV hey there 😃 The project is still active. Right now I’m updating the consoles of the crashed space craft „ISV Kran“. Once that is done I’ll continue the work on Dasa Cellars. Once all maps are reworked I like to add some new places which are optional secrets the player can explore. And there will be a new connection segment between Velora End and Bluff Eversmoking. I share some news related to the project on Twitter / X :)
That pretty cool, and crazy to imagine people mapping before i was born 😱 I made a video reel like this one some weeks back showing my Garry's Mod mapping timeline, so its cool to see the same coming from someone else, even though for different games, the people behind all the maps are still people , someone thats putting their creativity, time, and effort to test. Regards
Sehr geil! 👍
I used to love level design back when the level designer had to make geometry combined with 3d models to create a believable map. Nowadays entire maps made from 3d drop in assets and it took all the fun of level design away and made it so basically anyone can make a basic map. It also means to be a level designer you need to be able to 3d model to actually make a good unique map, otherwise you are kinda restricted entirely to the asset packs you buy.
I remember my first level being one room and thinking to myself "God, I'm good!" Still to this day I struggle to make good level design. But yours improved quite fast :) Impressive! Can't wait for Unreal Redux! And Merry Christmas!
Amazing talent ... that you stuck so long to Unreal instead of jumping to UT99 is fascinating to me ... Those older maps look amazing still ... And I get your sympathy for Trackmania, that game is fun as hell...
Amazing! I admire your talent and hard work! I wish you all the best for the new year! Unreal is one of my favorite games of all time. I loved the feeling of exploring an alien world that was beautiful, deadly, full of secrets. People like you who can create such virtual worlds are amazing.
I made a map or two. They sucked. Somewhere I have a CD-R of the entire Nali City website map collection. I suspect it contains some of these. Brilliant work, man.
This is inspiring stuff! It's so cool to see your evolution over the years and just how downright naturally talented you are plainly are! I'd wish you the best of luck in the future but you clearly don't need it. Looking forward to what you put out in the future!
odd i was just thinking about this game while playing ut2004 and lo behold a new media update dropped! Keep at it bros, i look forward to play when it is complete!
Some very impressive work. It's interesting to see how your style has progressed over the years. I'm genuinely surprised not to see more Unreal Tournament maps in there, though!
You made all these maps? Last year I had played a bit on Zora's KeyCoop server (which was kinda the last server with players, all other 100 servers were dead), and there I saw at least 3 maps from this video (DmWinterCastle, DmDeathCastle, DmExotica).
Unreal98 will always be my absolute favorite, compared to Unreal Tournament 99 which is just a mod with an improved Engine, and which contains Unreal but with bugs
Unreal Redux. ☺️
Hehe 😅 Großer Dank geht wohl a die @Gamestar.

Sadly not 😞 unless I quit my job and grind development and ignore my entire private life and family. It will come one day, please don’t worry. I’m still working on it, even after epic delisted the game which made me close to cancel the project entirely.
Lots of awesome work, here. Can't wait for Redux!
Seeing those early levels made by a teenager with no internet or help made me realize unreal redux will be a masterpiece
Unreal holds a special place in my heart like no other game. Turn of the millennium was peak PC gaming, IMO.
impressive work on those maps you did throughout the years,
well done mate.
I had no idea the 227 bonus DM maps were by you, hats off man! And good luck on Redux, this is the one Unreal project I'm looking most forward to.

(and also, how 25 years just whooses by :) )
Not sure I played your maps but I loved logging on to planet unreal and finding new maps and mods. Simple and wholesome times.
What a nice Christmas present! 🎅🏽
Oh how I envy you, all my maps I made as a kid back in the day are lost somewhere with old disks, I only have them in my own memory. Great stuff!
It's nice to see you having fun with mapping for years.😊

I love the intro sequence, because that runtime error and the exact same fix was my first experience too! 😂😁
Cool video, I love your mapping style.
I know some of the old maps from our youth! 😊
You had Windows 10 in 1998? 😁 Seriously, those are some of the best and most beautiful and inviting Unreal/UT maps I've ever seen!
Hehe yes I know 😅 I had no chance to make it authentic by installing a virtual machine to run win98 😅
