As a matter of course I always click on your sponsors to see what else they offer. I have an F150 and am looking for a roof rack so I went to check out Sherpa Equipment. I also always check out where the company is based because I like to buy American when I can. Was surprised to see they were out of Loveland Colorado -- specifically 3 miles from my house!!! An hour ago I swung by their facility (unannounced) and Alex was awesome. I mentioned Dirt Lifestyles and he was like "I reached out to Nate to make this happen"! Dude -- very cool to see young guys following their passions and making a go of it with a very stout product (and product line). Moreover -- they MAKE everything in house with a couple of small exceptions (due to capacity). Bonus for me, they make stuff for the F150 too!!! He informed me that they were quadrupling their space shortly. Thanks for turning me onto this company Nate. Best of luck to you too Alex as he is an avid fan of Dirt Lifestyles as well and I know he will read this.

Interested in the performance of the Decked system in PNW weather: what gets wet and holds water, what stays dry, and what rattles loose on forest roads. I like it but I also carry dirt bike and firewood etc, and that's a lot of bed space gone.

Couldn’t agree more about the 12v impact. I get laughed at for using it on door hardware in houses but it’s strong without being too strong like 18v. Plus the size/weight is great hanging off the belt👌🏼
With the rivnuts saga, the hardware on this setup is all shear force because there’s hardware on 3 sides of the bed - plenty strong enough!

One thing to know about the decked system is in my experience the front part of the drawers aren't 100% weather tight. Last winter we had snow creep in once or twice into the very front of the drawer. It wasn't a lot and I wouldn't discourage someone from buying it but its something to consider. We have had no other issues with it in the time we have had it on our work truck.

Because I had similar feelings when I first got my Packout boxes. Now, I hate the wheeled box's handle and lid design, the axle on the wheeled box, the latching system's weight and carrying limitations, and the dividers in some of the tool boxes. Overall, if I need to buy another entire box setup, I might decide that Packout isn't worth twice the cost of the Rigid I had before.

A union plumber probably knows a few tin benders (hvac guys). You need to ask around about a demo'd ac unit to cool that shop of yours.
I am a union sheetmetal worker. Local 270. I'm more on the heavy steel fab and custom stainless side, but our guys swap good units out all the time. May need a compressor or a fan, but way cheaper than a new unit.

Nate, you can do a very simple mod to the inverter setup that allows you to unplug the harness at the inverter, plug in a premade jumper harness, plug the original connector into that and ground one wire. You now have 400W anytime it is turned on, regardless of vehicle moving or not. You can also get a paralleled output coming out that has the Toyota connector that allows for you to install a 4Runner 120V outlet inside the cab.
I did this and it charges my Jackery 1000 while driving and runs my fridge at the same time. I have my outlet installed in the back of the center console, and the Jackery just sides on the pass side rear foot well. ARB fridge is mounted on a platform where the rear pass seat normally goes. Just did a 3 week trip through Montana and never had any issues with my Jackery/ARB combo. We are about to had out to more remote camping with less day to day travel, so I am going to be welding up an aluminum bracket to mount two 100W solar panels above the bed rack to keep the Jackery happy while parked at camp.

Noticed you didn’t reinstall the roof weather stripping. Any concerns about the channels holding water?

    • @DirtLifestyle

I haven't decided whether or not to reinstall the weather stripping. It's definitely not water tight so I feel like it's for show. And since it's now covered by the rack I could go either way.

I'd be interested in a review of how differently it handles with stuff loaded up on the roof and on top of the platform in the bed. Also maybe a mpg comparison would be cool. I'm trying to figure out where to carry my oversized spare in my WJ and am concerned about it being top heavy and getting even worse mileage vs keeping it in the back and putting other stuff up too. Thanks Nate, love both your shop videos and the wheeling stuff! I also really dig getting to see the family involved.

I have a 99 ram 1500 sitting on 38s with full ton axles, I think Dana 80s?, but I welded up a holder for the side of the bed, like on the old power wagons, but I have a buddy who keeps his spare 37 on top and he hasn't noticed any real handling changes on or off road, hope that helps

What are the base categories an overland rig has to check off, as in cpapbilities? I would like to see more on storage, organization and compartmentalization of say, kitchen, tools, clothes, etc. I am also a freckled 1/2 ginger and though i like it when its nice, I am always looking for shade, so a good awning build or install would be great!! Thanks....dirt church sunday!

    • @DirtLifestyle

Looks alot like another company that rhymes with Prinsu 🤣. Im getting into building a trail rig against my will. My truck was essentially totaled when my single stage paint started peeling off and everything started rusting...now I guess its gonna become a really expensive toy. • @DirtLifestyle

  • @riaankoegelenberg6173

The only thing I don't like about those "Decked" drawer systems compared to like a custom system is that they aren't very space efficient. They make you lose a lot of space in between the drawers and at all the rounded edges. Do you notice the difference at all or is it negligible?

    • @DirtLifestyle
      @DirtLifestyle  3 роки тому
