I love when you talk about wanting us to create a special space for ourselves. My favorite quotation of yours comes from one of your gardening with you during lockdown. “I want you to create a space of your own that is your happy place, a place where you would rather be than any place else because that is the definition of a rich life.” …Yes, your fans really do listen to you.
I am so thankful for your sharing Jennifer’s garden from heaven, Laura, and for inspiring us to create something unique for us. Jennifer’s garden is not only breathtaking; it’s is clearly a work of art, and requires a lot of labor and love . 😍🙏
I have been taking walks in my neighborhood for years and have noticed this amazing house that recently got a new front yard design. I have been enjoying the beauty of that front yard ever since it was installed. In noticing the front yard, I became aware that what I could see of the backyard looked magical! A week or so ago I was out walking and saw the owner in the front yard. I boldly walked up to her and told her how much I LOVE her yard, how much I appreciate all the work she does to make her yard beautiful and that it adds so much joy to my walks and the neighborhood! The owner - Jennifer of course! She was out for a quick plant relocation while on lunch break from her job! But I was just so enthusiastic and vocal about her yard and how I have really wanted to see that back that she graciously invited me to see her back yard - it has gotten even more gorgeous since Laura did this video sharing Jennifer's back yard with you! Jennifer has been SO wonderful. She told me all about Laura's work and I have been watching Laura's videos nonstop since then. Laura - I SO appreciate you filming Jennifer's back yard and telling us that we can do this! That Jennifer is a phenomenal inspiration and example to us all that this is indeed possible for us non-magical folks! Well, truth is, the message is that we are ALL magical with this if we are willing to wade in. Having been inspired by Jennifer, this video and all the amazing videos and help YOU have shared with us, Laura, I actually went out into my own backyard and started pulling out old succulents and PLAYING. I'm going to keep watching you videos and check out some of the nurseries that Jennifer and you recommended. I think I may be starting a renewed love affair with succulents, my own back yard, my connected- alive BODY and nature itself! Thank you SO much to Jennifer and Laura! You both inspire me tremendously! SO MUCH BEAUTY AND CREATIVE PLAY! Yay!
Wow 🤩 🤩 🤩 amazing.. my dream come true backyard oasis..with most succulents, gravel & artificial turfs. Now her house/garden will be the talk/focus of the town when you’re done with the front.. Jennifer’s very lucky to have you finished the front.. Will be spectacular.. Thanks for sharing.. Needed your expertise for my yard too..😘😘
HI Thank you for sharing. Its taken me a few years to get my front yard to a semi finished point. By hearing that beautiful yard took her 4 years to finish gives inspiration. Have a good day everybody!
You're always so inspiring and SO positive ! If I don't feel like I'm able to accomplish anything all I have to do is turn on one of your videos and my mood is instantly changed !!
For gopher control that I always used when I lived in El Cajon, over-excavate the planting pit to 3x the rootball diameter (but keep the depth equal to the rootball). Add a layer of cut glass (clean broken bottles and jars works great) about 3" thick to the bottom, and slightly up the sides, and then a layer of filter fabric. Set and orient the tree, then backfill in lifts with a good-quality compost amended soil with fertilizer tablets. Make a watering basin with extra backfill and then thoroughly saturate the soil, and monitor that it drains. 100% guarantee gopher-proof.
The babies hatched last Saturday and I'm soooo happy to report they also survived the last 2 nights of frigid temps. Mamma bird is doing a phenomenal job!
Her garden is stunning and so inspiring because she's learnt alot from you and put it to practice. I'm so inspired by you all the time and sharing her garden with us is so encouraging to keep going, thankyou x Can't wait for you to do the zero scape..I love watching those 🌵😎👌
Beautiful beautiful garden Jennifer, I’m certain you have spent many joyful hours creating this work of art Laura, I’m positive that you would find gardens in many countries around the world that have been inspired by you, mine being one in Australia Thank you for being you ❤️❤️❤️
What a beautifully thought through collection and display of succulents, other garden varieties and accessories!! Also kudos to maintenance!! You have such an exquisite way of addressing just the right things in most unique way.. almost like you are reading audiances mind ahead.. I've been watching and learning so many details. Though I live in a tiny apartment with an even smaller balcony, you've inspired me always to get out there and do something today in my garden.. thank you for all that you share!!
Keen eye! It is actually an Eve's Needle cactus. Started off as a 1-gallon from Home Depot and grew insanely fast. Constantly having to remove pups that get too close to the walkway but totally worth it and the gophers don't go near it. Only major challenge is weeding around it!
Jennifer has created an amazing paradise in her back yard! She definitely has an eye for design and has executed the “borrowed” ideas very well. Nice seeing well grown plants and especially love the Bougainvillea on the fence! Thanks for sharing. Of course my attention is now focused on the front yard transformation that will be forthcoming..
Funny, we originally intended on using the Palo Verde shown at the end of the video in the backyard but ultimately decided the front would be better! It might be tough to tell from the video, but the neighbors across the alley are above us since the slope continues. So, the Yuccas will eventually provide a bit more privacy than the Palo Verde would. (FYI - the cactus is an Eve's Needle and they grow very fast so if you have the space go for it :-)
@@jenlamesa7353 Your garden is inspirational and I hope we can see more of it in the future! Thanks for the correction on the Eve's Needle -- it's such a statement and it's location is perfection

Wow wow its so gorgeous iam so inspired to fix my back yard thanks Laura for been an inspiration and thanks Jennifer for let her see her museum of beautiful plants.
Laura, you are so good at explaining things and relating to the owner's desire for their yard. I love you and your family videos. Would love to meet you someday. I'd pay!
Wooowww...the backyard is so sweet...the vibrant colors are so beautiful...everything is meticulously arranged. The only thing I see missing in this Laura Eubanks inspired backyard are the succulent gutters...hint hint...😀
Wow this back yard garden That tiny nest in the cholla She put so much love into it Thank you for sharing Love to see all the interpretations of gardening
I bet Jennifer secretly got Colin or Hannah to come in and do a quick cleanup and maintenance before Laura arrived 🤣🤣🤣 no normal garden can be so perfectly neat and clean. Just joking, it's truly spectacular, an absolute work of art ♥️♥️
I use 1/2" 19 guage galvanized steel wire mesh over the majority of my yards. I lined big holes and 1ft trenches with it, planted and laid drainage, then filled. Zero gopher activity here! Downside... it was expensive!
Beautiful back garden ,just subscribed so I will be watching all your video's in winter when it gets dark here in the UK at 4.00 pm .I keep a collection of alpines and sempervivums but nothing like this.
Thank you for sharing Jennifer garden. She had done very good job. My garden is not big like her. I also had Gophers come to make a mess in my garden. I hired Gophers control came to put seeds under the soil, when they eat these seeds, they will died. Gophers have very strong teeth, they can bite through the metals nest. I don't see Gophers come to my garden again.
Brachychiton rupestris looks like a gorgeous plant, but I'm afraid it would be a bit much for our space especially since there are nearby power lines. Besides, the Yuccas were freebies (pieces that broke off into our yard from our neighbor's tree!)
@@jenlamesa7353 just make sure you really want the Yucca's , because in a few years they will become expensive to remove, and in 20 years they will be nearly impossible to get without destroying your Garden.
Wow what an amazing garden. I live in AZ and would love to do something like this but wondering are all of these succulents and plants on a drip system? I know succulents are the best plants for AZ but I haven't worked with them much so I am just wondering if they are not on a drip how often do you have to water them in the summer? I just came across your videos and I am loving your beautiful designs. Thanks
mole repellant and a pitch fork work well.the gophers chew through chicken wire so go heavt.they dont do well with d5 weed cloth though it chokes them to death.but i just put the bottle of repellant in the garden i dont even apply it
Wonderful video of a beautiful garden. 'Got a question, though, regarding the "choh-lah" (cholla) cactus. Is that a local San Diego-region pronunciation generally used instead of the Spanish pronunciation, "choy-ya"?
This may sound weird, but if you sprinkle a good helping of chili flakes in the soil around plants you don’t want the gophers to mess with - they’ll usually leave them alone because the spicy smell will deter them
