  • Learn to paint portraits in oil paint in this portrait painting tutorial! Yes, this video is in the "old school style" of how I used to film/edit these videos. I thought I'd present you with a "painting painting" rather than another "demo painting".

Great job yupari , your work has been very helpful for me , in the portrait department as I'm mainly a figure painter. I see your work improve in time as I've been watching for a while. Its seems you've gotten faster and that's great. I also like your teaching method as it is very relaxed and practical.
I can get a likeness easy but doing it with the proper techniques of the applications , dead layer , selective render , glazes, etc without losing the form is not easy. So yes I needed work in the portrait department because I was going for photo realism and you and other artist I've chosen, have been a big help. Many thanks ☆

Thank you for this episode . Lately I got the feeling that you yourself got bored with everything. This is more alive to look at and it has become a lovely painting. Look forward again to the next one.

Someone: "That's not exactly how the photo looks, why even bother with art?" (just take a photo...)
Me: You don't understand with art, you are free to do what you want in it. You can even control the backgrounds and what the person does in it.
    Someone: "Creep"

New subscriber. I really like the way you break things down and how you render things?
I did notice that you tend to "strainghten out" the pose a little when you paint face though...like your version usually at the "camera" a little more straight and not tilted slghtly as in the reference...I like how it gives thr person something more stoic and confrontational.

Hey I just came across your channel. Your work is good... who are you and where are you from?
I'm struggling to paint portraits (my preference) in acrylics for most of my life. I'm in my "golden" years now, and I've never really been a very good artist (average). 🤔🙄

Another informative and motivating painting demo. To me, aside from your eye for proportions, one of your impressive skills involves your steady brush control. It doesn't appear you require any hand support for most of your strokes. I suppose you're not much of a coffee drinker. 😊 Amen, on your comment about cynics.

Dude. Excellent tutorial, but you gotta come up with a better way to describe your fully finished work. You said "painting-painting" so frequently in this video that the word lost all meaning. Painting, painting, painting, painting, painting, painting, painting. I think you were overthinking the voiceover. You repeated yourself a lot in other areas, too.
The camera work is excellent. Maybe let the visuals stand unaccompanied by voice over a little more frequently?

Do you have to gabble so much? Less talk, more of the nitty-gritty.
