I've never painted anything tangible before in my life (not even with student paint really). I've all the sudden taken up a student project to mimic the style of Peter Paul Rubens using oil on canvas. Project is due by the end of the semester. Your tutorial helps so much ❤!!

oh man, Such a lovely painting , my fiend. You see, true beauty sends a wave down your spine and leaves you in awe. Everyone would love to leave a legacy like this of a wife or friend, or sister. Money comes and goes, but being able to achieve this is like writing a hit song, or obtaining a 6 pack, their beautuful in nature and extremely difficult to master. That is what makes them so beautiful and special. I was good in charcoal, I'm not sure if i could translate to color. I think half the battle is knowing your colors and how to obtain the myriad of tints and shades, its like your a chemist on the fly. I could draw it in proportion , but to flesh it out in full color is a whole new level

Hi, this is a wonderful demonstration and I noticed the same issues in your work too! I struggle with the same when I am almost about to complete the portrait...the right eyes shades and shape are different than that in the photo, the lips are slightly thicker and shorter than in the photo...and I know it is hard to correct that...Well, very much inspiring video. I have not been able to pick up my brushes and colors due to one after the other very close family member's very critical illnesses...Hoping in near future I will start my painting activity again. Thanks so much.

Mixing colors, especially with oils, is more done by heart than by some formulae... its because different brands use different quality of pigment so the results are not the same

Well you don’t have to really, but it will mix with the other color... so its better to use multiple brushes at the same time. The oils won’t dry quickly so you don’t need to clean them immidiately

I’ve watched many of your videos and you’re usually very accurate with your painting but this isn’t one of the best you’ve done. There’s too many little things that are misaligned and they make you miss the innocent look of the subject. It’s a very soft but complicated face with the subtle shadows and fair skin tones. You’re still one of my favorite artists, thanks for sharing your work.
