+Melissa West You are so welcome, Melissa! As a beginner once myself, I understand how easy it is to get overwhelmed and lost if a teacher goes too fast. How has it been going with your Tombow pens?
HI! I am really loving your videos so far, I am new to writing calligraphy... or trying anyways. I was wondering if you were going to make a video with the whole alphabet?
+Melanie Sipe Hi Melanie! A video with the whole alphabet sounds awesome! I will include that in my list of future videos. In the meantime, you can see these two videos of my alphabet (I didn't get a chance to complete it): instagram.com/p/5U_7LVEQdV/ instagram.com/p/5m06YSkQUT/ Enjoy! :)
+Claudia Lewis Hi, Claudia! I was telling Melanie above ^^^ that I will work on posting a video of the entire alphabet! In the meantime, check out my Instagram videos on parts of the alphabet: instagram.com/p/5U_7LVEQdV/ instagram.com/p/5m06YSkQUT/ Enjoy! :)
+Brenda Davis Hi Brenda! Apologies for this late post. It would be the same concepts (thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes). The difference is in how you grip your pen. Have you seen my lefty series on my blog? Some of my lefty calligrapher friends helped me share their tips for left-handed calligraphy. See "Tips for Lefties" here: piecescalligraphy.com/learn If you are on Instagram, check out my lefty friends at: @inkerellacards @logos_calligraphy @renmadecalligraphy Calligraphy as a lefty is DEFINITELY doable! I know you can do it. Let me know how it goes!!!
I'm just learning this but the way you transition is so unreal. There is no way I could Get so thick as I wouldn't be able to get back to a decent thin line if I Did that
+The Black Johnny Gat Wow! That is such a great thing to hear. It took me a ton of practicing in order to get a smooth transition. Be on the look out for videos on transitions - it has been a common request. Thanks for watching! You can totally transition just as well. Be patient and remember to go slow. Pay careful attention to how different amounts of pressure affect your stroke width.
Thin!!! You want to avoid crossing two thick strokes together. Try to only cross: thin and thick, and thick and thick. Hope that makes sense... Let me know.
Hi, Amina! It is always a good idea to warm up and practice with a pencil, although you do not necessarily have to. Instead, I recommend always practicing the basic strokes with your brush pen BEFORE you start writing letters and words. Hope that helps! +Veronica Chia Hi Veronica! Yes, actually! On my blog, I shared a series of posts just for lefties. Take a peek and let me know what you think or if you have any questions: piecescalligraphy.com/learn.
Hi, Julia! That is the goal... Have not gotten around to it yet, as I have taken a massive blogging and video break. Hope you'll be patient with me and wait a bit longer for it! Subscribe to my channel so you won't miss it. :)
Video on thin to thick strokes with brush pen was very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you so much for going through this exercise so slowly and carefully. I'm trying to get used to that tombow dual pen!

What if I have to make a line like this for the letter "Tt"
_______
Will I make it thick or thin?
