Yay!!! I’m sooo happy about our collab & I am so happy you filmed your process, love this kind of content! 💖 Also, your letterboxd list is STACKED, incredible. What a Giallo Baddie! 🤌🏼 Thank you again for being in a video with me. :)
1) Blood and Black Lace 2) Tenebrae 3) The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh 4) Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have a Key 5) A Bay of Blood 6) The Bird With the Crystal Plumage 7) Don't Torture a Duckling 8) Sleepless 9) Trauma 10) Spasmo
I enjoyed Your Vice Is A Locked Room for how bonkers it was and the random dirt bike race in the middle :) It's very loosely based on Poe's The Black Cat!
I'm surprised the gorgeous Blood and Black Lace (1964) isn't here - the violence is still shocking all these years later. Also, Don't Torture a Duckling is one of Fulci's best, I hope you've seen it Katie. And the completely insane Pieces (1982) would be on my list. But I can't throw shade - any gal with Eyeball in her favorites is made of the right stuff.
Ya know, I need to give Blood & Black Lace another watch. I saw it early on when I wasn't too impressed with the 60s. The 60s have grown on me now, lol. I have seen DTA Duckling, which was rather sad to me so I prefer Lizard. And i LOVED Pieces!
I drifted from giallo to regular Italian horror but it's cool to see my favs out of the ones I watched on your list. Specifically Case Of The Bloody Iris, Opera, Phenomena, and So Sweet So Dead. I really loved those. I want to watch House Of The Laughing Windows again for the setting, it's so chill and comfy!
Thanks for this! Giallo is one of those areas I need to spend more time with. If you haven't seen it, I bet you'd like Astron 6's The Editor. It's a parody of giallo but is itself a giallo -- and a pretty good one at that.
A mighty fine list of classic gialli, top notch stuff. It's really great to see the two of you doing the Top 5 video, cool to have you guys digging into also specifically chosen titles as well one day, something I believe anyway you are doing alone as well. Incidentally, I have some different lists ranked too over on Letterboxd as DoctorOtto.
I adooooore Gialli, I’m so so happy to find you and sweet&spooky making videos about them!! They’re such a special, unique vibe, and not widely discussed (compared to other horror/horror adjacent films and genres). So glad you are making these vids!
Love the video ! It’s amazing how our favorites or movies we just enjoy throwing on in the background shift over periods of time. I’m starting to think So Sweet So Dead may be the best of the least known Giallo of the golden era. Great movie !
@@KatieoftheNight Absolutely ! The look of the assassin was spot on as well. Good story, good cast, good pacing, good kills, good twists and turns and a strong finish! Going to do some revisits on some films this weekend. This is one I’m going to scrutinize a little closer as it may be a top 5 candidate for me if not higher. Not really a big Farley Granger fan but I thought he was really good in this one, plus his perm looked nice 👍😛
Very cool Ranking of your favorite Giallo films Katie. I think the only one I've heard from your list is Deep Red which is a movie I'd still like to see 🆒👍
Yay, welcome! Yeah it's VERY varied. lol. My channel has been all over the place for many years. There are definitely some videos that I'm still proud of but also a lot of junk. I've just decided to try to produce higher quality and more streamlined content so hopefully that works out. hope you enjoy!
I really like your ranking . I do like your comment at the end because some people can be like that , where you ask the question "do you hate me? did I make a stupid big mistake?" Absolutely not that is your list and your opinion I am 100% the kind of person that's always going to be like that. As Always I love your video and your letterboxd I have a lot of fun with them. Plus I love finding some stuff that I either haven't heard of or haven't seen and mean to see or seek out. Also thanks for subscribing to my channel and following me on letterboxd 😁 and that's going to be a thinker for me I haven't done my top five favorite Giallo . Off the top of my head my head my absolute favorite ones would be , cat o' nine tails, New York ripper, Tenebrae, So sweet so Dead , four flies on gray velvet, A blade in the dark, Torso, Autopsy , Girl in room 2A , Eyeball , so sweet so perverse, Strange vice of Mrs wardh, I know I'm forgetting a bunch but to name some of my absolute favorites I'll definitely have to do my top 10 . I still got to watch Murder Obsession , Death laid an egg and Tropic of Cancer .
Thank you! Yeah part of what makes these genre films so fun is the fact that everyone has different opinions. Even if we don't think so, that's REALLY what makes these reviews/lists fun at the end of the day. I'm glad you enjoy the channel AND my letterboxd :) I gotta check in on some of your more recent uploads. Love hearing your faves, those are some great picks. you gotta do a top 10!!
After watching all your Giallo videos I’m sure Delirium: Photo of Gioia from 1987 would be right up your alley. It is sleazy and gory but also features very strong woman and lots of 80s style. Love that movie. My list: 1. Strange Vice 2. Tenebrae 3. Torso 4. Forbidden Photos 5. Case of the bloody Iris 6. Fifth Cord 7. Black Belly of the Tarantula 8. Solange 9. So Sweet, so Dead 10. Case of the Scorpions Tail I hope you will make many more videos. Greetings
WIth Deep Red...did you watch the English dubbed version under the name Deep Red or the Italian version under Profondo Rosso? Because the one under "Deep Red" is about 25 minutes shorter and not as good. A lot of the violence, plus a romance scenes, a whole subplot are missing from it. Might be why you didn't like it as much as most people?
I'm terrible with rankings. It could literally change by the day or my mood. So I try to avoid doing rankings. Now the one thing that's driving me crazy about this video is. What does your mug say? I can tell it's based on the Sex Pistols God save the queen.
Yay!!!

@@thegordonite One of the things I like about this movie is it has become more offensive over time. Giallo is about having an edge.
The Washing Machine is pretty good.
Also Deep Red.

Oh yeah, House with Laughing Windows is really cozy somehow!
Fun list, nice to see your thought process.
Great stuff as always, Katie! Great list. And it reminds me, there's a few on here I've only seen once, that I'd like to chk out again.
Thanks for this! Giallo is one of those areas I need to spend more time with.

No Tenebrae ???!!!
It didn't quite make it to my top, for some reason... I remember finding it rather scattered. I gotta rewatch it though.
Yay, now I can see which movies are must sees for me (if there’s any in your top 10 I’ve not seen).
ooooh hope something made your watchlist! hehee

Haha omg yes, it is! It's a Degrassi mug. It says "God Save Christine" which is the name of the punk girl on the show. my friend made the mug!:)
