Bob Nudd's modesty, humility and likability is a lesson for us all.
His humility really hit me too. Incredible given his achievements
It seems they was all like that especially the names he mentions like the great Ivan Marks, Ian Heaps. Modest, humble men who I believe were the best era of the sport.
Many thanks to you Matt and all the Guru team for this show ! I have been a French coarse fishing journalist for more than 35 years now and I have followed all the world championships since 1984. I obviously know Bob Nudd very well and I can assure you that he is still very much appreciated and also seen as a true legend in France.
When we are talking legends, Bob Nudd is undoubtedly number 1.
Brilliant podcast, I could listen to Bob for hours and hours
Every time I see Bob live he radiates warmth and friendliness.
He’s so humble. This is the best podcast full stop. Just because it’s Bob.
What a truly great fishing legend he is and a great human being.
Use to watch his program on Discovery shed religiously as a kid the main reason I got into pole fishing, before youtube really took off there wasn’t anywhere to watch pole fishing unless you had the money to buy the dvds so Bobs course fishing show was all I had I would record them all then stay up all night watching them writing down tips and tricks he was such a positive influence in my life as a kid and I’m sure he was to many others a true true legend, he set the standard for match fishing a real master of his craft will always be my angling hero hope to see him on again one day amazing podcast 👏🏼
Fabulous listen, a man who has climbed the highest pinnacles of the sport yet comes across incredibly humble. A legend of a man! #Sirbob
I have been fortunate enough to meet Bob on a few occasions. We had lunch together at Bowood House, and he was kind enough to listen to my tale of woe vis a vis match results, and put me right with sage advice. He also cost me a quid, as he caught a roach first fish on the demonstration he was doing, and I had a bet on with my wife that his first fish would be a bream. What an absolute credit to the sport. Why he has not been knighted I will never know. Many sports people have, who deserve it much less. God bless you, Bob, and all who sail in you.
Thanks boys, an absolute pleasure. Not only is Bob a Legend, but he is also a joy to listen to. Superb.
Total respect for both Bob and Matt.
Well done Matt, you are such a good interviewer and Bob - what a legend
My fav podcast to date. Such a humble human being and I’m lucky enough to fish with him in regular matches near my home, always have time for you a true gentleman and legend of our sport.
Watched Bob practice at Cornagrade when I was 20, im56 now! I was over there in Enniskillen with the Merseyside Fire Brigade on their National & spotted his sky blue Merc estate, all liveried up with Van den Eyde 3 x World Champion. Pole to hand. My fishing Mecca. Best Podcast to date until Alan & Kevin Do theirs. You have to get them on as this would mean so much & maybe inspire a resurgence in International Angling, which meant so much to me growing up with Angling Times/Mail and David Halls magazines. Cheers Matt & Toby & Guru for these Podcasts.
Childhood hero and what a loverly person. Should be Sir Bob Nudd 👍🎣
The word legend gets thrown about far to often but Bob is a true legend of both this sport and in life in general . Top man in every way a true gent and thankyou for your help for the mind charity when I asked, never questioned and done all you could . Top man and a truly nice bloke with a million anglers doing what they do because of you . Well done Guru this was fantastic 💪💪
I was 4 years old, my Dad drove 2 hours with me in the passenger seat to go and get one of his VHS tapes signed by Bob Nudd. I grew up watching that video time and time again!
Congratulations on your achievements Bob - world class. Just to remind you that the name of the lady in the MBE photograph is Ann Freeman, wife of my late father and your Manager prior to and during your Four World Championship triumphs. Terry and Ann Freeman introduced Browning Fishing Tackle to the UK and if I recall, made you the highest paid professional angler in Europe at the time (plus car) and in tandem with your talents, helped to raise your profile, enormously, with TV appearances, books and of course his daughter, Julie Freeman and her team wrote and produced your record ‘Maggots in Your Catapult’. He died suddenly aged 47. Sorely missed. He was a huge advocate for you and I know that you would be the first to recognise that and give him credit for the part he played in your career.
The best 3 hours I've had in a while, a national treasure and great work from Matt and Tobs
How proud must Matt feel that the Bob Nudd is saying he’s a fantastic angler. Says something that a lot of anglers, older ones as well as the younger generation say what a great angler he is.
Perfect timing, I'm driving 5 hours to Tunnel Barn tomorrow so this will take up most of the journey. Need an Alan Scotthorne one now.
Bob is a real legend that I’ve followed since my childhood, what I love most is the fact that he says “I’ve been so lucky” yet the reality is the harder he worked the luckier he got.
Tight lines Bob 🎣
What a guy. And what a podcast! Brilliant Bob. 3hrs flew by. Great work Matt and Toby. Get him back soon. 👍🐳👏👏👏
Bob has so much passion for fishing and still so good at it

Met the man At match in Guildford. Lovely chap, helpful and a bloody brilliant angler...To be honest I poached his tactics and told my mate who was a few pegs down...funnily enough, my friend ended up qualifying for the final... cheers Bob lol 😊
Great podcast , maybe the best . Have had the pleasure of meeting the great man in Portumna in Ireland a couple of times
My hero! What a legend!
Absolutely great interview. What a guest. Thanks Matt.
8 hours matches spot on, I have to work 8 hour days and I'd much rather be fishing for 8 hours. If I go pleasure fishing I have to set an alarm to force myself to go home!
Simply the most positive man angler icon. Pure entertainment. Thanks so much. Cracking interview. 😊
Absolutely fantastic podcast, amazing stories and amazing accolades from such a down to earth and humble bloke! Love it

Great chat, totally agree with longer matches, love 6 hour matches
Complete legend and gentleman !!! Fishing as a sport and hobby needs bob to be more in the public eye as he will promote fishing like non one else could do.
I have not started to listening/watching this, but I have to tell how much I was waiting for this. When I was a kid I had the chance to meet him in the World Championship in Hungary at Lake Velence. Got a signature on a picture of him in the Zebco catalogue. What a legend and what a man.

Bob Nudd is a fantastic fisherman, and such a great humble guy!
Great guru pod cast with a legend.
I was maybe 8 or 9 years old when my parents bought me his book “How to become the worlds best fisherman” along with a white flat-cap ! Was even taken to meet him one Wednesday evening at Willow Park to get the book signed ! Absolute superstar in the world of angling.
I loved that book, still have it now
Brilliant interview ,an absolute national treasure .
I had the pleasure of sitting behind Bob Nudd at Poynton Pool near Stockport about 30 years ago, it was a charity match to aid a Stockport Fed official that had passed away. My lad still has the programme he signed.
Bob Nudd he is a legend an ambassador to angling his knowedge on how to adapt on each fishing match fantastic and a true gentleman.

I really enjoyed this podcast cos it's put my faith back in fishing and with it not all about having all the best Tackle, I started back up last year to help with my mental health due to having to quit work to be my wife's full time carer after a subhacroid heamorage left her disabled , It's helped me to no end but I want to go with the times and buy a 14 metre pole and box with footplate ect but with the cost of living it seems a million miles away being on benefits but that's the life I am in now and it can happen to anybody , loved the podcast and thankyou love bob nudd .

Bob Nudd is so modest about he's ability even as a novice, love the Irish stories & photos, think Bryson DeChambeau must have seen one of those photos with the cap!

Best pod cast yet remember like yesterday watching him at holme pierrepont & wosborough res & loads of other places for me he was the best pole angler I've ever seen aswell as been fantastic at every other method such a great personality & always had time to talk to people 👍👍👍👍👍
Didnt think the Will Raison podcast could ever be beaten, this one however was emotional. Sir Bob would be an understatement
Loved this podcast. So interesting to hear Bob Nudd saying he wasn’t a very good angler back in the day as to where he is now. Liked the story of Ireland where he mentioned staying at the Killyhevlin hotel in one of the lodges. I remember staying in one of the lodges in The grounds of Killyhevlin hotel so close to the river you could fish off the decking. This was in 2011.
Great interview with a legend of angling, very well presented too
Outstanding Guys, Bob Nudd your a hero 👏
@nudd.Bob what a pleasure to listen to and watch I’m not a match man I’m a carp angler but I found this so interesting what a legend of a man

Awesome podcast, thank you all 👍👏👏👏😊
Great guy, met him at angling times roadshow in Middlesbrough around 2002
Bloody brilliant. I didn't expect anything else.
Fantastic podcast….Bob Nudd GOAT
Great vid, thanks. Next level thinking from Andy Bennet as well.
My favorite match angler of all time, the GOAT. When Bob and big Kev Ashurst turned up at the world championships you could hear every other competitor whisper ‘oh shit’ in their native tongues.
Wicked that boys, Matt that last comment from Bob must’ve been a tear jerker for you mate… ❤
Best one yet. Well done gents
What a legend
A delight to see
Bob is simply fishing royalty
One word, LEGEND.
