As an ultra runner, people always tell you to walk the uphills and run the downs, but I have always done the opposite. Folks - always run up, walk/hike down! You get way better aerobic workouts and a ton less impact.
Yeah I have a very slight issue in my right knee (had it since I was 15) I can’t run step downhill or cross country. Just makes it too sore afterwards. Sloping downhill is fine it’s just the steep ones I avoid 😂. But I love to run up hills and I do plenty of that so my endurance is pretty good.
Oh my goodness...you do SUCH a fantastic job communicating these important points to us ordinary runners...I look to you for info, guidance and inspiration! That's rare! Tyou Coach Morgan! And your personality makes me wanna keep listening and learning. I mean it! Thanks 😊
Good video coach Morgan, good luck with your marathon coming up, I just did a marathon last weekend got a Pb, there was some good size hills in the marathon, I found doing a good mixture of intervals on the flat plus, 15k tempo runs on the hills, plus I did exactly what you are doing about 3 weeks out from the marathon did some hills sprints two sets of 5 thirty second hill sprints, cool ✅🌲🍀👍🏼🏃🏽♂️👍🥳
I just need to open the door, and there it is, a hill 😒 oh look let’s go to the left, 😒 another hill. Ok let’s go to the right 🤦🏻♂️. You get the point. 😂🤣😂🤣. But I won’t complain. This has really helped me a lot.
I live on an island but usefully it does go up and down in terrain quite a lot. So most of my runs tend to have uphill and downhill to them which is fine. For sure though I’d recommend at least one hill run per week (or every other week) to build endurance. Or I’ll do a treadmill run (10k) and increase the angle by one degree for each of the first 5k and gradually bring it back down again.
I trained for a very hilly half marathon with two days a week of running up/down a small high school stadium. Was only like 30 steps. Race hill was 500ft. Yet it prepared me well
Have always been a runner, but lately I haven't been running as much..maybe one or twice a week. Have you dealt with a bunion before? What r some ways to treat that? Ive just been doing other workouts for cardio also....
Your shoes are changing the shape of your feet. Get something with a large toe box or experiment around with some minimalist footwear imo. Possibly find a store that specializes in running shoes that can do an evaluation and get you into the right gear.

Except in a race, against your PB. Yeah

Very interesting!
Downhill always makes my left knee hurt if I go to hard. I love running uphill though.

This channel has helped me a lot in my journey
I live in sicily, italy everything here is up hill.
Great video 🇮🇹
I live near a giant hill that I used to avoid at all costs. Now it feels like Im cheating if I dont go up/down! Especially on those 20 miles
Great stuff Morgan! I never took running uphill for a low impact exercise but it really is. Cool !
I could watch this lady run all day.

Awesome Morgan peace and love!! ✌️☮️💗😊
I have limited choices on where I can run. But, because of the terrain, I always have a slight incline/decline to my trail.
I run track in Special Olympics my last track meet was in 2019 I got 1st place

Yes, the treadmill can be an amazing tool for hill training!
thanks coach morgan, shortie but goodie
Parking garages can be a good hill alternative
Yes, definitely, I did that when I lived in Florida.
And i will not lose my spirit even in rain or what ever came and the finisher will be mine☝️
Fire roads here in northern Cali are far from small hahaha
There’s Forrest fire road that has 1200ft in 1.5 miles elevation gain.
Good information but I don't have any hills near, Florida, so, I use an overpass where I live. It has sidewalk that way you are not on the street.

@@fastinradfordable Yes, stairs works great as well!
Move to north Georgia, the hills find you. We hunt for level places to run. :)

Title says “how you become a better runner”, thumbnail says “how we loose”, video is about hills. Hmm..
Oohhh! You're in a marathon training block too? Is this Chicago or a local one? I'm doing Long Beach on 10/9!
Local race this weekend, the Maine Marathon!!
@@TheRunExperienceGo crush it, coach!
Amazing girl.
how much % incline is suggested?
I think it was 5-10%
@@TrainInspired thanks
Can you please say hey to me please? Thank you, Morgan peace and love!! ✌️☮️💗😊
👋
There are no hills so I’m using a treadmill to run my hills. Elevation max
Just don’t fall 😅.
I’m wearing tiny shorts 🎉
