You must have Leg Ground Clamps with a stainless steel sheet inside so that it does not touch the tower. The copper conductor should be installed between the SS sheet and the Clamp. The fat you added won't do the job. It is a low viscosity grease which, once compressed, withdraws and therefore allows the electrical connection. So the copper foil touches the metal of the tower. It simply limits the intrusion of water, contaminants and the risk of corrosion. I thought I saw at the beginning of the video that you had this kind of clamps. Maybe they are just installed incorrectly or have you installed other versions for the plumbing?

Maybe oughta paint the Copper straps so that don't look "expensive" to idiots passing by??

I know some ham operators with towers that use just one grounding rod (4 feet) into the ground and attach it to just one of the legs of the tower, but the way you are doing it is really something and new. I will make sure to have my friends watch this video Darren! Thank you.

I must admit that I have used stainless steel hose clips in a similar fashion but I suspect they are not a great choice. A popular protection for the junction here is self amalgamating tape and then wrapped in Denso Rotunda tape. The latter is nasty sticky stuff, a bit like a lint bandage dipped in marmalade. The chief function is to protect the tape underneath from UV. Well done on the copper strap and the long ground rods.73

Hello Darren a suggestion. I have for many years mounted my 30 and 33 feet fiberglass antenna poles on military fiberglass mast poles, when I join the bottom part of the antenna fiberglass poles i use a 3 way assembly to avoid their twisting and increase stability. I have the mast pole, a short piece of 1.5 or 2 inches short PVC pipe, and the bottom of the antenna all clamped together. I also use 3 clamps. This way the antenna pole and the mast pole stay straight, no twisting.

I would have taken the thin foam out from under the radio and put the thicker foam in that place and that would make the radio sit a little more flush with the top foam and the radio still have plenty of protection and the case not be so hard to close. The compressed foam doesn't provide as much shock protection as the uncompressed foam does.

That RF in your audio, did the shield in your coax break connection?

Put tv antennas on them, they cannot prevent you from having a tv antenna up and receiving over the air tv

Is the jpole for 2m? If you try to use it for 70cm then uhf frequencies will be absorbed by leaves in the trees. I have found that to be the case in the woods.

No luck. But finally got it to work and wouldn't ya know the version I have is the same version they are offering. Trimmed by Palomar EF OCF dipole yesterday using my new AA-55 and works great. And I like the fact that I can see all the bands on this Off Center Fed dipole. Have mine across 3 palm trees at about 11' above the ground. Ran the PSK reporter this am and being heard in Hawaii, the US and Canada, SA, and Europe. Even worked 2 Russian stations last night. Going for more height with a flag pole that is coming Sunday. Can't wait to see how this works. (And I got the 95' version to put up about 25') we'll see how that one works out. So far, I'm very impressed with the Palomar antennas. (yes, I paid full retail for the antennas)

Hey awesome video bro! I can't tell you how much this helped me. I bought a very expensive sports brand track pant , more than $200 and the guy forgot to take out the e tag. I went to the same brand stores in nyc and all of them refused. This was different from their machines it seems. This is bullshit since I went to the flagship store of the sake brand in Manhattan, NY and they couldn't help me out. Anyway your video did the trick. It did almost take me 50 minutes but I did it with 2 forks, just like you showed. And there was no ink in this one too. They lie for some reason, there's no ink in them. Hi Darren: I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for your work on this video and a tip of the hat to Art N4QNT as well. I have just turned on VNC Server on the G2. This allows VNC Viewer software to interact in full GUI screen on my PC. I did the G2 Upgrade by following your and Art's script below. Worked perfectly and I am now running V17. Noticed that the THETIS does not show the firmware variant in the general screen. Again thanks... much appreciated OM.... 73 Art W1SWL

As far as I'm concerned, the ball stops at the feet of the RF2K-S. I have mine interfaced with the my Yaesu FTDX101MP and 3 antennas. Coming from an Acom 1000 and LDG AT-1000, there was a bit of a learning curve. Now it's just hit my VFO memory, key and go!

Uhhh, there's an update to 1.41 which has bugs. The current version is 1.42 which fixes the IQ out. Other than getting the current version, great instructions.
