Siku restoration Mercedes 250 W 115 No. V 309. Toy model cast.

The German company Siku introduced the Mercedes 250 model in the W 115 body to the market in 1969. In 1975 there was a re-edition of this model with a changed box and new wheels. To display subtitles in your language at the bottom of the movie, please press C on the computer or the three dots on the mobile phone in the movie. The Siku models had the characteristic fluorescent colored glass, so I had to renew the original glass despite the breakage. The alloy of white metal from which the model was made was very brittle, therefore the roof pillars often cracked. I glued mine with cyanoacrylate glue, which I strengthened with baking powder. The doors of this model were mounted without a spring and had to be renewed separately during painting. To complete the whole, I made a box characteristic for this model from 1975. The number on the box is used according to the new chronology, while the number V 309 was still on the chassis of the car. Fantastic resto Paul. A few yeas ago i sold my stephdad mercedes 240D .I was after all his age still in good shape.
I couldn't keep that one. because I own 3 BMW's oldtimers. Still it was nice to see the Mercs still are on the road since more than 40 yaers. 👍🥂A great 2022!

Eine schöne Restaurierung, die dem alten Mercedes wieder zu neuem Glanz verhilft.
Selbst durch die Windschutzscheibe herrscht wieder klare Sicht! Sehr schön gemacht.

What gives you the baking powder with glue? Is just fillment or cause some reaction with cyanoacrylate?

I own one SIKU, a Mercedes 250 TAXI, made in West Germany. It's flawless, and not for sale. I bought it in Stuttgart about 35 years ago. While visiting Mercedes World Headquarters, I also bought a Mercedes S sedan, a CONRAD, 1:66 scale. Neither is for sale. Sorry.
