Here is the dryer element I used.

Perfect UA-cam video. No BS, straight to it. No life story on how his grandfather used to dry clothes by running around the yard. PERFECT HOW TO VIDEO
Thanks. I watched all those other videos and knew I could do better. Happy this fix has helped so many.
This has to be one of the best dryer DIY fix instructions that I have seen compare to the others that are long winded and full of bells and whistles of intro and useless background music. Thanks!
Happy to help. I spent too much time watching those videos to learn what to do and figured I better make one that makes sense.
This video was fantastic - straightforward and easy to follow. I have the same model dryer and replacing the element solved my problem. I'll confirm that the screws on the back of the stand are difficult to get at, but with some patience you can get them unscrewed and screwed back in. I would say that if you have a short screwdriver, it might help because if the screwdriver is too tall, you can't get it underneath the element. I'll also add that after removing the screw on the front holding the element to the stand, the element wouldn't pop out. This is because I found an additional screw holding it to the stand. It was behind the part of the element housing that sticks up in the front, slightly off to the right. If it doesn't pop out, *carefully* (so you don't poke yourself with the screw) feel underneath the right side of the stand and you'll feel the bottom of the screw. Once I removed that screw, it came right out. Like the screws at the back of the stand, it required finding it and unscrewing/screwing by feel.
I am a single mom and I could not afford for my dryer to stop heating. I ordered the part, followed your video step by step, and my dryer heats again. Not only do I feel accomplished, but I am so grateful for this video and the fact you saved me a few hundred bucks. Thank you so much!
It was my heating coil as well!
Thank you for sharing this. I'm happy the video helped. It's not so bad once you get into the replacement.
@@LandtoHousewould this part you used work for other models? My gf and I have a similar one but not the exact model.
Thank you for tge easy to understand video... this was the exact problem that occurred in my dryer... your video, parts link, and installation instructions were perfect... working now...thank you
Thank you so much for this. Ordered the part, followed your instructions and dryer is now working
Thank you for the great instruction. I was able to fix my dryer after ordering the part from your link. Thanks for making it easy.
Great! Happy the tutorial was helpful!
Excellent video! Nice simple explanation. I followed along and changed out my element and it now runs perfectly again. I estimate that I saved about $200 on labor and probably about $50 on the heating element by ordering it from Amazon and not paying a repairman/woman for the part.
Thank you so much for this step by step video. I fixed my dryer in less than 2 hours.
Great detailed video and a simple DIY. Fixed my problem at a fraction of cost of calling repair person. The part i received from amazon did not fit as snug as it needed to. was able to bend the metal so that it could slide into the back better- however there is a little bit of a gap. Thanks again for sharing!
Thank you! You were right, the screws behind the stand are tricky, but the vid was great and my dryer works again!
Dammit, I just replaced my dryer last week because the element went bad and couldn’t find any info on how to repair it, extremely helpful video regardless
You didn't consider a middle ground approach, like calling an appliance service company? It would probably have cost $300 rather than $100 for the part, but that's still less than a new dryer ($800-$1500).
P.S. Dryer technology hasn't changed in the last 50 years, so your new one may have cute beeps and WiFi, but the motor, belt, element and thermostat is still the same as the one you disposed.
Mine works like a charm. Great instructions. Only thing I would add. On the reinstall put the heater cage in first. Then mount the stand. The ever so slightly bigger screws go on the back side. The ever so thinner then go on the front. After the stand is mounted. It will take some work to fit the cage into the back. It will eventually fit int!o the slot on the stand. This is the hardest part of the entire reassembly. But great video. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I just finished fixing mine today. I appreciate it as my set up is identical to yours which really helped. 😊
Thank You So Much!!! You saved me a lot of $$$. The part I ordered from Amazon (linked in the video description) did not quite fit so I took the filament out and repacked it in the old heater assembly which was a little more work but not much.
The repair has worked flawlessly I definitely recommend doing it yourself my local repair guy wanted $200 just to look at the machine
I'm also having trouble with the linked part not fitting...1/4 inch wider than the one I removed
@@johnbuechler4662 That's very strange. It's the same piece that I used in my machine.
Thank you so very much for this video. I was able to follow step by step and fix my dryer. This was awesome!
Happy to help. Much better than a service call from a pro.
Followed your video to success. Thank you. 🙏
Thanks! Great tutorial.
Excellent video - thanks.
Thank you so much for the detailed instructions
I have the same one, is there any reason why I have to replace it almost every 6 months? It's my 3rd time. Thank you for the video
Thank you, great instructions!
thank you for the video! the part is cheap on amazon and repair tech wants about $400 when a new samsung dryer goes for $475.
I am happy to help save you lots of money!
Thanks dude!
Thank you for posting this!
Nice - encouraging to check myself the next broken device :) I did similar fix on my dishwasher some time ago :)
There are still a few appliances we homeowners can fix.
Very helpful, thanks.
I guess what you could do is buy just the coil and replace the broken coil and then you would have a spare.
But then you would have junk laying around the house... 😆
Plus what if you put it back together and one of the other sensors weren't working... 🤔 Never mind 🤣
Anyway thanks for a very thorough & concise illustration video.
So my control panel had a second connection not sure if I need to disconnect both?
Thank u
I replaced my heating element and it's still not heating. Any idea what could be causing this? I matched the wires perfectly. Does it matter which way I put the fuse in so long as it fits?
video is awesome wires on heating unit are not the same. should i replace wire same has my old one.
My question is, why dos the replacement part seem to come wth wires attached already?
I did everything I mentioned, and now my dryer works fine. FYI, you really don’t need to disconnect the control panel connector. And there is a connector to the open door switch that if disconnected, helps with access.
Nice to hear it worked! When I made this I just removed it all in hopes of being able to film it better. Small room and all.
Thanks it worked!
Very good. It's not too bad for a diy project.
At the risk of sounding stupid, is my dryer, supposed to get very hot on the side that the heating element is on?
It can. That element is a coil of wire that heats up very hot.
Please tell me there another way to get those last 2 screws loose driving us insane😢
They are annoying! I don't know of another way.
Best tool for the last screws
@@bflent000 I was able to use a normal screwdriver. I'm not sure if there is a better tool.
I changed all that a month later it stopped heating again
Thanks alot! Your video helped me a bunch, I've got the same exact dryer and its back and working again thanks to your video! I really appreciate it!❤
Have I mentioned how much this single mom loves UA-cam tutorials? Only every single time I use one to save my butt. Thank you so much, I went all summer without a dryer but I figured I would save on electricity by hanging things out on the line but winter is now coming and it's very cold and the only thing my clothes are going to do outside on the line, is freeze. I went to Lincoln and bought your part, they sent me to an upgraded part but it worked just fine. The only problem I had, was in the beginning of the video my top would not slide backwards. Apparently mine has clips and it pops straight up. I should have made a video. It would have been very comical, me trying to slide that top off. I also didn't have mine up in the are and I had a very hard time sliding the part into place. So I pulled it farther away from the wall and leaned it backwards and I had it where it needed to be in no time, in fact it was so easy I wasted 15 minutes of struggling while I was laying on the floor.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much for this tutorial.
I just repaired my dryer after watching/following your video. Thank you very much!
Same dryer, same symptom, same problem. Thanks for the video! It saved me a lot of time and money.
I ordered the parts before i saw the video and received the individual parts. I replaced everything just to be sure. The back screws are a pain and i did not have a short enough screwdriver. I took off the front screws and slowly bent the tray forward until i could slide out the element. Replaced parts and put it back in.
I have found videos like this one on UA-cam to be invaluable with being able to fix so many things myself. Great job!
Just repaired my dryer using these step by step directions! Thank you!
this seems to have worked for me BUT the machine is turning off (losing power) after a few minutes of operation now and only works after i reset the fuse (which is not tripping) in the panel. anyone have any idea what the new problem is?? thank you
I have a dve45t6000w would this same heating element work? Or should I find one with the exact model number?
Hey man! Wanted to let you know that this totally worked. I’m so happy to have it fixed.
I’ve been diy-ing/remodeling my house for a couple years now and just finished the laundry portion of the house. I installed the machines that I purchased over a year ago, and was so excited to finally start using them. Did a couple loads and the dryer stopped heating. So stumped and disappointed. Then I found your video and thought I’d give it a try. Totally worked. Thank you again 👍🏼
Thank you for the great feedback. I'm happy to hear that your system is up and running now.
Thanks for this. Your videos are extremely helpful. Cheers!
I fixed my dryer tonight for part cost when the repair place quoted me over $400! It wasn't quite a smooth going as your video, there were some plastic clips behind the control panel that didn't want to let go and the top was really hard to push back. Also had to open it up again after door error came on but discovered that I forgot to connect one wire connection. I'm just a wee little lady but I did it and now have a working dryer again thanks to you!! Sending some thank$ your way.
Fixing it yourself is way better than paying $400. And now you can add this skill to your check list.
Thanks! This video helped me replace mine. I had alot of trouble getting the new one back into its proper place though. I ended up opening the dryer from the back as well through the area with the exhaust pipe, was much easier for me to reach my hands in there and move the heating assembly back into its place and replace the two furthest screws for the stand from that side.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the video! Mine went down and I was looking at a steep repair bill having someone else fix it. I found A replacement part at a good price and I was in a max of 1.25 beers before she was all said and done! Again thanks a bunch!
Nice! That is way better than paying the $200 plus to have it fixed.
So thankful for your video. I was successful in fixing my dryer. I will say it was a bit of a struggle getting the new unit screwed back in. Sooo excited to have saved myself $$$ by doing it myself .
Was your model the exact same or different, but similar Samsung model?
Awesome explanation, easy to fallow. Thanks
Well done, quick, not too difficult and saves a LOT of money. I've done that repair myself twice over the years and I always end up dropping 1 of the screws inside while putting it back together and have to reverse gears and partially disassemble the dryer, again, to retrieve it. LOL.
Thank You ! Video was helpful !!
Cannot thank you enough! This fix worked like a charm. Thank you so much!
I am happy to hear the video was helpful! So nice to have a working dryer.
Thanks u sir. Followed it to the tee. Great vid👍
Did you ever experience a burning smell? I followed all the steps now im nervous lol
I did not have that on mine. I wonder if its a new part thing that goes away after a minute. (but no mine did not do that)
I just replaced mine and yes I have the same smell hoping it’s just the new element burning off the coating????
@@30lilcoyote How did this resolve for you? I just followed all the steps in this video & experienced the same thing. Burning smell & very small amount of smoke when trying it out on high heat. Edit: The burning smell & smoke were because there was a plastic-lined cable in against the heating coil! I haven't put the dryer back together yet, but it should work ok now that I've removed the cable.
How did this resolve for you? I just followed all the steps in this video & experienced the same thing. Burning smell & very small amount of smoke when trying it out on high heat right at first. I'm not sure what to do next. Edit: The burning smell & smoke were because there was a plastic-lined cable in against the heating coil! I haven't put the dryer back together yet, but it should work ok now that I've removed the cable.
great video, thanks!
Perfect. Thank you.
Well done video. Thank you.
After I put it all back together, plugged in, I am getting a DE error. What did I do wrong?
That's a door error. Did you get the cables reconnected in the top? The door closed sensor wire is easy to forget.
Thanks so much for video! Super helpful. I got my dryer back in working condition in just a few hours (once the part arrived) and for less than $30!
You make it look so easy...however, not the case. Right no fighting to get element slid in...that back screw on pedestal not a joke either 🤔🤔. The bottom metal in razor sharp..cut my arms up trying to remove screw😂😂🤣🤣😂
Great video!
I might cut a door into mine. Lol
Thank you ! Just watched your video, bought the piece from a local shop and changed it. You mentioned how hard it was to reach the screws in the back of the stand, but it is so MUCH harder to screw them back in, especially when the stand doesn’t align perfectly because the piece is brand new and won’t sit where the old one was. Merci encore, d’un fan du Québec !
Yes thise back screws are Tough! It also took me some time to align the new part.
@@LandtoHouse Exactly ! My dryer is on the floor and it took all my flexibility to bend, reach and align the thing !!!
I had the same problem and ended up with several nicks on my wrists. But it's so worth doing it myself.
Thank you so much for this video! I was able to go step by step alongside you and replace the element in our dryer! Thank you so much!
Nice work, Seth. You saved time and money by repairing your dryer yourself. I'm a new subscriber and am finding your videos fascinating, especially those featuring the ram pump.
This probably saved $200.
Thank you for watching! The ram pump is a great tool.
I replaced my heater box and then a couple days later it's stopped heating again? Any ideas
I'm not sure about that. Mine has been running without issues since this replacement.
Thank you. Element replaced from your instructions 😅
I did this!!! It works!
Thanks Seth
Excellent! I am so glad that I found your video. With the knowledge you provided I was able to order the parts and repair my dryer. Thank you!
From one UA-camr to another, thank you! This video saved me probably hundreds in repair labor. Didn't take much longer than double the length of this video either. I bought the part through your link so hopefully Amazon shares that with you. Much love!
Nice to hear from a fellow creator. This DIY dryer fix was not bad. And you are right it can save hundreds of dollars.
Need your help i just replaced dryer heat element and thermal but still no heat. I did not check the breaker if works need. to buy volt meter if there is 240 volts suply
Thank you, this was exactly what I needed.
i just used to either repair or restring it. after 35 yearsof doing that i dont miss it.. nor does my back lol. samsung can sing all he wants.. lol
Thanks for the help! Excellent instructions! We have the same dryer with the exact problem. 🙏🏼
Nicely done. Fix-it yourself is a skill that is disappearing and well worth learning, thank you for sharing this.
Save that nichrome wire from the heating element, you can use it to make a hot-wire cutter for foam-board & Styrofoam to custom cut odd shapes when insulating the tiny house or the micro-hydro, or make an ABS black pipe warmer to make it easier to insert/remove the barbed fittings that's less risky than a blow-torch, a heating bed for sheet plastic if you ever want to make a simple vacuuformer, or even just hang on to it to snip as-needed lengths to use for twist ties that can survive high temperature conditions like your "will it burn" videos, or making a slow cook accessory for your outdoor gas grill.
BTW, If you are doing an appliance repair video, does that mean I have to do a ram-pump video? LOL
Very comprehensive and precise.Time well spent.
Worked perfectly - incredible video.
The best dryer diy instructions. Easy to follow and well explained
Anyone know the oem part number for this assembly?
Thank you. $50CA off Amazon and working like new again. Great video
This video was super helpful and I was able to replace the heating element. However, when I started running the dryer the right side of the dryer (near where the heating element is located) felt pretty warm. I am not sure if this is normal or if there could be a problem. Any thoughts?
I finish The first part is all very easy, thank you very much for this incredible video.
👍👍👍
Can someone post the link I cannot find it
Thank you so much for showing this method of removal! the other tutorials I found, while technically competent, all involved tearing down the whole unit - even removing the drum! Noooo thank you.
Oh that is a lot more work. No need to take the drum out for this fix. Happy to hear it worked for you.
Thanks for your excellent video. I was able to follow your instructions and fix my dryer. Thank you for the link to buy the heating element also.
Nice! Good to hear the video was helpful in fixing your element.
I was able to use these instructions to replace the heating element in my DV448AEP/XAC (similar machine, but slightly different location of wires and screws). Clothes now dry properly, and this saved me a ton of money calling in someone to do it for me. Thanks for the instructions!
Nice to hear the video worked for you. And better yet saved money!
Thank you so much for this video
Seth, I don't normally comment on UA-cam videos but I have to thank you for publishing this video. My dryer's heating element went out last Sunday. Luckily it was on our last load of laundry so we didn't have to spend too many quarters at the laundromat. While my wife and I sat in the laundromat waiting for said load of laundry to dry, I was researching how to replace the heating element to see if it's something I could do myself, quickly and easily. You're video was the first one I found and it was a great help! I have to thank you for making it short and succinct. AND, an even bigger thanks for including the link to the replacement part. I was dreading having to find the right one. I ordered it while still at the laundromat. It arrived that following Wednesday and I got this repair done in about an hour (the majority of that time was spent cleaning out the lint from inside the dryer). You saved me, only God knows, so much time trying to figure this out myself and I've very grateful to you for that. So, thank you very much! God Bless!
Thank you for the kind feedback. I'm very happy to hear the video was helpful in getting your repair done. I contacted my local repair man and he quoted $200 plus parts to fix my dryer. For 1 hour of time, this DIY is worth saving that money.
Any advice on the wires where the red and blue wires are to get them off? It’s like mines are super stuck! It could be because I haven’t been done there in 7 years so I did have a lot of link. But now I’m sitting on the floor refusing to give up because these tuff wires! 😅
Having the same issue. Had to get a really thin flat head screw driver.
@@cotystoneking1 me too. I kept working at it and praying and it finally popped off
Thanks for the link to Amazon. I just ordered and plan to fix my own dryer ! The video is great !
Happy to help. Other than a cramped space this repair is not bad.
Could you send this video to my corporate workplace. They won’t let me fix the dryer in my own. Hehe. No dry towels at a grooming salon is a bad day.
That is super sad! This type fix is not that hard.
I replaced this but my assembly came prewired so I just had to reinstall the red and blue but they were in different locations. Is that an issue? Also how hot should the outside of the dryer get on the side by the element down low.
Did anyone happen to answer this? I’m looking at the same situation. My replacement part already has some of those wires…
