    I've tried and tried to no avail to create my own overlays - your tutorial is the BEST! I did finally did it and I can't wait to cut and design...thanks for sharing your talent.

    Great video. The slice trick is awesome, thank you! But I am still having trouble aligning all the squares so they are evenly spaced horizontally and vertically. I tried following Kevin's directions below but I must be doing something wrong because I cannot get this to work. Would love to see a tutorial on how to evenly space these shapes. Thanks for the video!

    Love this! is there any way to automatically align the squares so that everything is even?

      Yes, the best way is to place the first square where you want it., then duplicate two or more times. Next place one of the new squares in the corner where you want it. Select the whole group of squares (I like to select them by holding the shift key and clicking on the right hand column of shapes) and use the align tool at the top to align them either horizontally or vertically which ever direction you are lining them up. Finally use the align tool again to distribute horizontally or vertically to evenly distribute the three (or more) squares between the two furthest. Note that you never have to touch the middle square(s)
