***** I think the point of the video is that she was the female dancer and in his path to fame and success she didn't matter that much in the end and although he was upset about it he's done with her and has moved on to better things (i.e. new album which he views most of his songs as being about his demons), represented by the fact that the dancer walks away leaving her on the couch and then continues dancing to the mansion. I think it's further signified in the king bed that was messed up during the line "til you disappeared with him to have sex of course' and then after he puts on the tux and the bed is made again. That's what I got from it anyway..
TO THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND THE VIDEO, OKAY LISTEN (READ)
I believe everyone knows that the song originally is about a girl who cheated on Ed and it tells us what happened.. and the video is well, about Ed's career.
So before the actual explanation, I wanna share this insight:
I think the actual story behind the SONG is also found in this video (it is when you play it backwards -- in a sequence, from having everything (which is her) and when she left him, now he has nothing.)
And the story behind the VIDEO... When the video is played normally (in a sequence from having nothing to having everything) it talks about the flow of Ed's career.
So this is my interpretation of the video plus the song. And it goes like this:
The guy in the video represents Ed's life or career or just simply Ed. At first, he didn't have clothes on which means he had nothing. Then he wore a shirt, representing 'he has something' which means it was the start of Ed's career. Then he made a kid listen to a song and the kid represents the people who listened to Ed's song.. after that he changed clothes (a better one than the first one he wore) which says that he's starting to gain more money. And then he found her... and thought he had enough. (But she cheated on him so they broke up) like in the video, the guy and the girl separated. So he went on and now he changed to a more sophisticated clothing which shows he has become successful, wealthy, and famous.. he is living in luxury.. it's like he became better without 'her'.. and finally, relating the video to the song (the story behind it) this kinda says:
"If we (him and the girl) were still together, you could've had what I had, too. But yeah, you f***ed with my love for 'ya so say hi to my rich ass wavin' at 'ya"
HOPE THIS HELPED. :)

I love the hidden meaning behind this! Starting at the beginning, Ed has done the same thing, only his surroundings has changed and he is still doing the same thing now. His music hasn't changed, he himself hasn't changed. Only his clothes and his home. Perfect :)
To be fair his music has evolved, he's putting other artist's influences into his music such as Justin Timberlake and Eminem. It's not solely acoustic anymore but he's made the transition beautifully and perfectly!
I also discovered that from house to house, there are less personal photos on the walls.. I think it represents that the more famous you get, the less you see your family and best friends, and perhaps your surroundings also get colder? What if, it's a story told backwards, like, we all know about the sort of drop from fame and the fall into money issues and stuff.
Like, what if he starts at the top and for whatever reason, ends up down on a mattress outside. The start's dancing seems to be sort of playing in reverse. So what if it's a story being told backwards, he had money and riches, met a girl, things went wrong, he stuffed up somehow and now he's at the bottom.
Idk, it's well past midnight and I'm guessing.
But some of Ed's other songs on the album are about, or make reference to if he ends up a failure, and what if this is his questioning? I know we're all guessing it's him starting from the bottom, but the whole dancing, the way he moves, and that part at the end where he's suspended, what if he literally falls?
