Thanks for this video. For years I used to buy this winterizing orb thing from local pool store on Long Island called ..island recreational used to cost like $45 . A local repair guy told me not to use it as it has some chemical that ruins your pool equipment. he had revised the same as you just shock pool. Can I just break up some pucks and run them through the skimmer a few days rather than go buy granular shock? maybe I’ll throw some pucks in skimmer also
You don't even need algacide. What kills algae? Chlorine. That's all you need. I haven't purchased algacide in 2 years once I found out it wasn't needed. 👍
Would you do the same thing with chlorine if you have an above ground salt water pool? Thanks!

Followed this method last year instead of buying a kit and my water was crystal clear. Chlorine and a good algicide.

Chlorine shock shock shock is all you need. Kits are a waste
