Grief! When I worked at the castle some 50 years ago, my job was mainly to keep people off the courtyard grass - it was pristine! Now, it looks crap! Oh, after taking Lord Brooke's dog for an hours run, (unpaid - just loved doing it!) I'd then sweep all 144 steps of that tower.
Yep, Warwick's my home town. A group of us schoolkids used to "adopt-a-Yank" and show the tourists around for an hour. Payment? Cup of tea, and pop a donation in the hotel's 'charity box' - doesn't matter which one.
