Lol.....a "yabby" is a small Shrimp here in Australia. "Yabby Pump" is street fight style punching with grabbing opponent's shirt like a hockey fight....I hope that explains 😅
Too bad Jordan was already out of the competition due to injury. He would've been like, "hey, that's MY move!" Helluva comedic improv moment from that actor/stuntman in that scenario. Damn near died laughing the first time I saw it on Rokas' channel.
Natan Is a scary dude. It's not only his eyes, but also his attitude. In the first challenge he was like "why would 5 guys try to attack me. It must be because I am a Jew. So I decided to fight them" And there is a video on his channel "sparring" with a racist. He also showed that he was competitive and can go all out to win. In the shank tank he knocked the guy out, and played mind games with other contestants during competition. He is smart, tactical and rational in his decision making. He is chill, but at the same I would feel scared being next to him. It would feel like sitting next to a wild animal. Mike Tyson would be another example of a wild, and even more unpredictable animal.
I watched a long interview with him in Hebrew. He said that since he was young he was enjoying fighting people. He mentioned that when in school he used to set a time and place with bullied just for the fun of fighting them. That's before he started training martial arts... Other than that he's a real gentleman. Watch the video on chan's channel where they spar. He kept it very challenging while every kick to the head was swift but controlled so chan barely felt it.
@@suncu91 yeah Mike Tyson is a good comparison. But old Mike was crazy in the head and had some drug problems. Natan is scary because life as a jew is scary and they have to face some real life threats everyday. Props to him.
I honestly don't agree with Jessie not excelling in the druggie part. He kept calm, talked to the guy, controlled the arm, and then ended the fight when things got out of control. As long as you don't get stabbed with the needle, I call that a win.
It's much better to just walk away and avoid dealing with those types of people though, they are unpredictable! Make space and avoid a fight when you can. Nathan excelled
Of the few things you can do, asking the woman if she needs help is actually not a worse move than other options. It's non-aggressive, diverts attention to the fact that the attack is in front of witnesses, and allows her to have some agency. In most situations, he will yell and try to assert dominance before escalating to fighting. The problem is that there is no good answer, with an abusive partner, chances are high the abuser will continue to punish their partner behind closed doors, even taking the bus situation out on them as if it were their fault. As a therapist, I'm not supposed to work with couples with possible abuse -- seeing them together creates enormous risk that counseling will become another weapon of control or, even worse, if the abusive partner has a bad experience, it could escalate violence happening at home.
2:50-2:55 agreed! I thought Jeff did best in that one, and I'd say Ranton was probably second. Just up and leaving is better than jumping straight to threatening someone with a weapon. Not to mention that I don't think a pen would serve very well as a deterrent. Nobody would be very scared by that, and you could easily just escalate the situation instead of solving it. I like Natan's performance in every other scenario on the bus, just not that one
And I say this as someone who carries weapons, btw. I don't think this is a good idea. Set verbal boundries, if that doesn't work, then move. If they continue to follow you around, then maybe it's time to go physical. But even then, I'd say that using a weapon is a hard case. Especially as someone like Natan who could easily beat the brakes off some random dude
Jesse does a ridge hand strike to the second guys head did nobody see that hit. then dude demonstrates a perfect side kick on a moving bus dude is bad ass. good job to all the guys.
Natan demonstrates the hugh difference in skill and power between a very good amature and a professional. People don't realize, in any sport, how good are the pros. There's a video showing a far less than avarage nba player, playing 1v1 against good amature players. The skill difference is uncomprehandable.
I think the dude punching Jeff's back was just politely letting Jeff know he was there but in a real fight those would've absolutely been head-hunter shots!
I 100% think Ranton did better then scored here. 2nd last? Nahh. He didn't do bad in any situation but maybe the junkie. - 2v1 he was in rough, but the pen was used perfectly and he did one the best. - creep he got out quick - couple he did as good as you could have - knife he stayed safe and co-operated best you could
To be honest... I think that in a Real life situation the driver would stop the bus. He would need a big dose of "not my fucking problem" to keep driving 😂
That is exactly what they are supposed to do where I live. A bus driver can kick people off the bus. A friend that was a bus driver did just that when a woman and her daughter attacked someone. They were in the middle of the desert. He called the police to come pick them up. The police didn't want to take them, but the fact was he had the right to kick them off and is responsible for the safety of his passengers. In the end the cops relented and took the trouble makers the rest of the way to Vegas.
As a kid on the city bus some dickhead teen drunk started acting up and talking to me and another kid, so we moved away. He followed us, said some shit about how we were shit talking him or something, we said no, and then he went back and tried to sit next to some guy and his young daughter who kept pushing him away. The bus driver then decided to kick him off on what conveniently happened to be my stop and then he started blaming me for getting kicked off and bragging about how he was 19. That was cool.
I had something similar to the couple scenario happen to me today and one of the reasons i chose not to get involoved is bcs even if i did manage to prevent something than and there they're going to meat later on a date or at home and its not like whatever i did will help than, which sucks bcs you see somebody getting abused and you cant do shit but thats it sometimes
Those scenarios were really good, actually real cases that you can get into and that no martial arts school prepares for. And in real life with the adrenaline kicking in, it must be really hard to handle.
The reason why you want to talk to the woman is to prep the witnesses. Other people on the bus minding t heir business might not know the guy is hitting her, they can only tell that he's yelling and she's scared or whatever. If you jack the dude up and the woman is hitting you, people might see you as the aggressor. You want to make it clear to everyone that you're intervening in support, because you never know what the woman will actually tell the police later. Dude I'm pretty sure Jesse killed the junkie. Also Natan sitting like that is good if you know there's an issue on the bus, but then you have no awareness of whats going on outside the bus.
i agree about not liking the high score for waiting to be attacked and attacking in kind....HOWEVER, it's usdc, sd for self DEFENSE, nothing about dissuading or being uninvolved unfortunately, it's seemingly primarily based on combat and control, not talking...just my perspective from seeing just this season and a couple reactions to it.
I disagree with Jessie not doing well in the first challenge just because he wasnt as aggressive as the others. In fact that is more realistic for regular people than what Jeff did.
I’m going to disagree with you on not wanting to cause a scene. Causing a scene is exactly what you want to do in the vast majority of self defense situations. The point isn’t that you hope someone will save you. The point is to create witnesses. Witnesses who can tell a jury who the bad guy is to balance out the lawyer telling them you’ve been practicing how to harm people since childhood. Plus, going back to your experience with accidentally attacking a simulated stabbing victim, do you think you would’ve reacted differently if he was yelling for her to stop trying to stab him? If there is anyone who would jump to someone else’s rescue, you don’t want that person blindsiding you if shit goes down. Also, my two cents on the wife beater is to walk to the back of the bus while calling the police. Getting involved some way else just causes more problems. You’re endangering yourself on the hope that other people back you up on what happened so that you don’t get arrested and sent to prison, and, if the cops don’t get involved, you’re potentially endangering the woman further if they get off the bus and he blames her for your attempt at heroics. The only real resolution is for him to be arrested anyway, so calling the police is just the most efficient and least dangerous path to that end.
24:58 Flashback to Season 1 Jeff: How did you deal with the knife? Ramsey: That was the easiest one actually, I just gave him my wallet. Jeff: NO WAY SHUT THE F-
The atomic bear self defense pen would be illegal in australia! How crazy is that. In my state anything you carry can be a prohibited weapon if the intent is to use it as a weapon its crazy.
In the situation with the man attacking the woman, backseatgaming this rn, I would step back, take a picture of the man (covertly if possible) and then move to the other end of the bus and call the police. If someone else does step in, I might try to help, but I‘m not trained for stuff like this and I‘m not gonna thrust myself into danger headfirst. But I also want to get help to the woman, even if I can’t stop what is being done to her right now. But maybe that’s naive, too.
All of these scenarios should have been graded seperately instead of being average'd out. Each scenario is totally different and the only similarity they have is being on the bus
Considering Seth doesn't know, I feel like it's worth mentioning that Craig isn't exactly a "regular guy", he's had a lot of bare-knuckle fights in prison. Thats' basically what Rokas meant with "street skills"
