I've been through countless attempts and videos trying to get the internet to work on my windows VM with the M2 and this is the only one that walked through it easily understandable and without issues in the end. Thanks so much, subbed !
Outstanding! Thank you - just what I needed. :) Tried a few tutorial and none seemed to work properly for me. But this was the best and easiest by far :)
I have an old intel macbook and thought thar every VM is goona be very slow , but after i did just like you in the video it's operating very well , thank you
First many thanks for such brilliant information, I do however have one question. I am a complete iMac novice wishing to run a number of my windows exe install programmes. Do I need to download UTM from the app store? Many Thanks, John
Nope. You can download it directly from their website: mac.getutm.app/. Just select download. I purchased the app store version to help support the project. You will need to periodically check their website for updates as they are not automatic on the non-app store version. Let me know if you have any ideas for videos that would be good for Mac users.
After the installation (at like 10:12 in the video) it says it needs to restart to work and then restarts it automatically and has been repeating the process for 3 times now. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
the option to 'continue with limited setup' for connecting to internet doesn't exist AND the option "connect now" is greyed out... I restarted the VM and even created new VM's and still the same problem...
Please help every single time I run it for the first time it works but then it goes black and only shows the black screen and I can’t do anything please help!!!
i followed your instructions best i can. problem with crystal fetch is I can't find any other options for windows like you did, I wasn't able to get anything at all. so I used whatever was available. otherwise I did exactly what you did. I booted it up and unfortunately It didn't even give me the option to open windows it threw me to this "mapping table" right away?? I'm unsure what to do, I have no clue how to get rid of it and I'm getting increasingly frustrated. any advice??
It does look like the updated the tool and took away the all builds option. You can still download it from the tool directly just make sure you have Windows 11 and Apple Silicon selected. If you are using an Intel Mac, select Intel X64.
ok, so you need to go to the menu options above that says crystal fetch file edit view, etc... go to view and tick advanced options then you'll see the build.
So UTM will allow me to install windows but it won't set up partitions on my hard drive, right? I want to play some old games on Windows XP but I don't want to sacrifice hard drive space to do it.
If you do it in the way I did it in the video it will just do a standard partition setup. You can try manually partitioning them at install. If not, you can go to computer management > disk management and update the partitions there. You can also add an additional drive if you wanted, but I know you said you don't want to sacrifice the drive space.
Hi thanks for the video ! When I start downloading the file from crystal fetch says UNSUPPORTED_LANG should I download a different version of windows??
You don't have to. They have a free version on their website. You only have to pay for the app store. Here is the free download link. github.com/utmapp/UTM/releases/latest/download/UTM.dmg
You can manually download them from this link: github.com/utmapp/qemu/releases/download/v7.0.0-utm/spice-guest-tools-0.164.4.iso Just make sure to do it in the VM.

Glad you found this helpful!
I dont see ALL BUILDS on my crystal fetch opening page. I just see the exact same page you said to skip over. Grrrrrrr Thanks for the video dude
I had to click view, then show advanced options from the toolbar on the top to get it to show up on mine. I believe he left that step out

Issue usb port😢
For the internet section, I don't see an option for "I don't have internet". How can I fix this?
Its probably been updated by Microsoft. You can download an older version that still has that available.
@@tatogtech6748 What do you mean by the older one? Will it be possible for you to make a separate tutotiral for it?

Make sure to remove the install media from the VM.
Are you talking about the ISO image? Ive been having the same problem and am very stuck :)
@@sterlingcarfrae9381 Yes. After install, it remains attached to the VM. You need to remove it and then start the VM.

Check youre network mode by editing the VM. You want it to be either shared or bridged.
If it still doesn't work you can try checking the install drivers/Spice option. Fixed it for me.

I just uploaded a short covering this issue.
By the way, does this work using wifi and not wired? Also I can see that we need to purchase UTM, isn't there a free Hypervisor we can use for Mac?

thanks for amaxing tutorial, do I need windows license inside the VM?
It keeps going to a shell page for me. I don't get the push any key prompt.
Check the ISO. Most commonly experienced this when I accidentally downloaded the non-ARM version.
@@tatogtech6748 it was the emulation type. Got it working and it was beyond slow. Not usable for me sadly. Parallels for me 😇
When you see boot options and the message to press any key to boot on CD, press any key so it will show the windows install windows.

hey, I'm still stuck in shell I tried restarting but still stuck
Did you make sure the version you downloaded was the ARM version. It can be easy to accidentally download a non-ARM version.
@@tatogtech6748 Yeah it was the Arm one but still didn’t work
@@Xaizor234 Have you tried deleting the VM and creating a new one?

How's UTM's performance with windows when using MSOffice apps?
That is a good question. I have not tried it, but I think it would be fine as they have the apps for Mac. If you find out, let me know.
I keep getting "Error: something wrong happened while downloading esd file."
Where are you getting this error?

should I download a different version of windows??
Can I install windows 10 the same way?
If you can find an arm ISO for Windows 10, then yes.
bro didn't mention you have to pay for utm
You don't have to. They have a free version on their website. You only have to pay for the app store. Here is the free download link.

Don't click on the app store option, the other one is free
