    I have to admit your video it's great and teaches a lot, great structurally progressing to follow up as well, and also deep enough to taste the beauty of this application, not to mention, the good recap for foundation concepts. took me a while to jump on it and I'm glad I did because I'm learning a lot and can't THANK YOU ENOUGH SR.

    Thank you as always! I am going through each and every video and learning a lot... QUESTION: I need to customize a CMU block to specific dimensions we use in Sierra Leone. Can I do that so this is selectable as a component in Autocad Architecture ? Don't ever stop this work!

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure. There's probably a way to do that; I'm thinking it would be by modifying the material. Other than that, you can run calculations on the walls to tell how many blocks you would need, de[ending on the size of the wall, vs the size of the blocks.

    Great video as always Edward, quick question though. My walls, floor slab roof profile and footings don't seem to appear in my elevations and sections. What do you think could be the problem. I realized I'm experiencing similar in other drawings of mine as well, struggling to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Your problem could be a number of things. Make sure those missing constructs are xref into your views properly, which means they must also be on the correct levels. Also check the Global Cutting Plane to make sure its capturing everything you need.

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  3 роки тому

      Your right. I think it depends on how you want to incorporate the floor - it can be done in different ways. I think if you want 9' from Level 1 to Level 2, then the floor thickness of 4" would be deducted from the 9' on L1 to make it 8'-8" from L1 to bottom of slab/floor.
      Try to figure out your levels, making sure that you incorporate the floor thinness and ceiling hight if necessary.
      I hope that helped. Thanks for your question.

      @@TDVision_U Turns out the problem was that I was cutting through a wall when I added my sections. Thanks again Edward

    Edward, welcome back.... I have a question regarding the dimensions start and end points. In my 40+ yrs of residential construction I’ve never seen dimensions coming off the footings. It’s always off the foundation wall corners. And then the size of footing noted. Is this some they do in Jamaica? Or is it just your way of dimensioning? To me it means two sets of batter board lines or two transit setups. We would just plumb down from lines on batter boards to a point in the hole and offset a line for footings. Just curious as to why you dimension to the footings?

      That's a good question. How its done in the video is how I usually do it. But, I've also done drawings with the method you mentioned in your comment. I think it comes down to what the contractor prefers. I've done both methods and they were acceptable in Jamaica.
      Big-up Douglas for this question. I hope everyone reads the comments.

      @@TDVision_U I guess similar to how I dimension for my framers if I’m not doing it. I too depending on the contractor will sometimes govern how I set up my dimensions. Typically from the same reference point that way everything is stacked. But for foundations I’ll always dim to the corners of the walls. Thanks for getting back to me. Have a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year. Stay safe, be well.

    Thanks @Edward, my questions are:
    1. any tag (door, window, room, etc) I chose seem to appear (by default) larger than expected. I will have to rescale them manually to fit. How do I fix that, cos I noticed in the video that all tags you generated by default were automatically sizable and yet needed no rescaling. please help me out.
    2. With the 1 click dimensioning, is it possible to change the font style, tick style etc, in fact the entire 1 click AEC dimensioning style to suit your liking??

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  10 місяців тому +1

      You might be using the incorrect scale. Be sure the set your scale to the appropriate scale on the Status Bar Toggles. You have to do this before adding your tags, or any annotative object. Re question 2, yes there is a way to change the dimension style. Watch this video ua-cam.com/video/JSQCSt-3CRE/v-deo.htmlsi=RyqVRliA_66Pxf0a&t=576

      @@TDVision_U thanks for your response. But, just so you know, I go by the metric system. However, default 1:100 has been my practice since, I barely change my scale from start to finish and has been working out for me except now. I’ll give it a try and get back to you on that.

    I have like 15 double-hung windows (the same) in my drawing... so I thought I could just tag one window and manually edit the quantity in the window schedule, but it turns out the other 14 were added in the schedule with a question mark. Is there a way to have one window tag for 15 windows? Thanks!

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  3 роки тому +2

      So you have to tag each window or use the tag all option in the command line while the command is active. If you want all the same windows with the same mark in the schedule, you have to make sure they all have the same mark when you tag them. Don't know if that makes sense.

    Congratulations for the great work! I have a question. If my building has more than one levels, how I will detail each level of the same view? Thanks in advance!

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  2 роки тому +1

      If I'm understanding your question, you would create a floor plan view for each level, then detail each floor plan separately.

    WHEN WINDOW TAGGING THE WINDOWS IS AUTOCAD SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF THEY ARE THE SAME WINDOWS? OR WE MUST KNOW SO WE CAN CHANGE NUMBERS?

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  3 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately, AutoCAD does now have that feature. You'll have to know which window is which and number them accordingly.
      What you can do, however, is to tag multiple of the same window with the same number, at once. After you tag one window, the "multiple" option should appear in the command line.
