- Did you know that mowing your lawn actually keeps it healthy and promotes root growth? Its true: proper mowing of your lawn not only keeps your yard looking great but it also helps it thrive. In this video we talk about the proper way to mow your lawn and also how to edge as well. bit.ly/LawnAndGarden
Taking care of your lawn, in a way reflects your personality. Kinda shows how you take care of your self, and your household. Nice tips, I'm sure most people aren't aware of these.
I love his enthusiasm.
"I guess you're wondering what the proper height is to mow your lawn? Well just check your lawn type and look it up. Moving on..." thanks for the tips, Squirt.
It’s actually interesting though. Since I tend to mow my lawn on Fridays usually in the morning and oh man it’s usually wet with morning dew so my company and I tend to double or triple cut it in order to make sure that there are no clumps and make sure to keep it neat and maintained and we tend to catch the grass.
I especially make sure that we trim and edge my driveway, sidewalks, fire pit, a couple of stone drains, and the beds and then blow the grass off the concrete.
Very good tips thanks Steve
Thank you for this wonderful tips! This video is very helpful it contains dos and don'ts on how you should mow your lawn. I think if you masters this tips you don't need to pay for a service guy to mow your lawn. This really helps! Thanks!
Great! Thank you so much for the opportunity to hear some advice from the expert. It is really useful especially if you have a big lawn. Good job!
You did a great job Tommy
i agree with all points exept bagging: if you live on sandy soil 4 miles off the pacific coast than you know you can mow every single day and still need to bag. the grass here grows nearly an inch a day.
Nice Nicholas Cage impression Steve!
Fantastic video. Thanks for posting
The begging talks about inspecting the blade but they didn't mention something VERY IMPORTANT:
When tipping a mower on it's side make sure the carborator is pointed up or there will be oil spilling all over.
This guy was great!!!
Nice video. I would also like another instructional video about detaching and aereating the lawn.
That's true with the gas caps for the most part, not always. But, you should be topped off before you start anyway. Also, his order is wrong, you edge, then mow, then trim. With edging and trimming not necessarily being done every time. Other than that, his tips are spot on.
True...
Oil and gas when you tip it.
Nothing like a professional performing mower though...
Thanks for posting.
;0)
if you edge then trim then mow you collect all of the grass trimmings with the mower. and unless your gras grows a different shape every week you should know where you can and can't get with the mower, being able to trim before mowing.
having a wet rain year so far in texas.... have to mow the front and back yard every sunday. UGH ITS SUNDAY
It's Gilbert Gottfried doing his Nick Cage impression! haha!
30 years ago this guy would have had a future as the nerdy guy in 80's movies :)
Good video when I mow over the edges I scalp the edges any tips?
LOL!! WOW!! Sears of all companies is teaching people to tip the mower over on it's side rather than tilting it back so the oil and gas do not run all over the grass and cause you to have to bring to a small engine mechanic to repair a problem that could have been avoided. Folks, A hand grinder or a bench grinder or even just a file works fine for putting a new edge on a blade, You do not have to replace it every time it gets dull, just sharpen it. Never tip your mower on it's side or you will lose fluids and could cause for some expensive repairs. Tilt your mower back and use someone or something to hold the handle to the ground while you work on your mower. The reason you tilt it back is because the oi/gas will leak into the carb and cause a nasty mess in your carb and air filter. Keeping the under side of the deck clean is important for proper vacuum, circulation and discharge. Just some friendly advise form a small engine mech.
I've always been told the same regarding not tipping a mower on its side however the videos by Honda for replacing blades have them tipping the mower on the side.
shnrbtlle18 you tip the mower to the side with the air filter up
if you don't spill it don't matter and most gas caps have one way valves so air can go in but gas cant come out.
Mowing is a big tip. Keep the blades sharp too.
Open your eyes!
Funny comments. I thought he looked like Jerry Seinfeld, but I can see the Nick Cage resemblance (must be the nostrils!) Seriously, I just started taking care of my own lawn again and I've watched a lot of videos for various lawn maintenance tips. This kid was great ... energetic, well-spoken, good presentation skills (ok, yes, he needs to lower the chin, but he will hone those skills with time). While he no doubt had a script, whoever wrote the script was detailed enough for even a novice to understand. Some videos assume the viewer is a lawnmower mechanic or professional landscaper (why would THEY be watching these types of videos?) Keep it simple and easy -- like this video did. BTW: I wondered about tipping the mower over and spilling the gas and oil. I still haven't found a video that talks about that -- and the manual for my new Snapper doesn't cover it either. Overall, and relative to all of the other UA-cam videos I've seen, I give this video an A+ for good tips for general mowing and edging tips.
I have never seen a key started lawn mower before.
Yeah, you can go out of order when you know what your doing, but this video is for instructional purposes, and, there's a proper order to that...some people are minimally exceptional and can't put the cart before the horse. You have to blow off at the end anyway to get the clippings back into the lawn. Bagging should be kept to minimal.
Did he say "begging" or "bagging"? Must be from Boston.
+A F i always set my mower deck varying on how tall the grass is
Always mulch...... the nutrients go back into the soil.... its crucial to mulch!

This video was pretty informative. Thanks Nicolas Cage Jr.
lmao! .."Put... the clippings ... back... in the box."
In this segment of "Get into the Cage" Nicholas Cage gives advice for a better lawn.
Ha I have the same mower and edger!
well cars are push button start now too. What else will they come up with?
This guy has perfected the "about to sneeze" public speaking face.
nice cutting grass i would like if you gave me some tip.
.
This guy has never mowed a lawn before, he just read a book about it!
This guy looks like a young Nike Cage
ok this dude can move his head down..its drivin crazy..
REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG CABLE BEFORE YOU TURN A MOWER OVER AND START TURNING THE BLADE!
Then you were too high. You can watch a little high, but not that high.
This guy.... lol... Nice boots. Thanks for the info, though.
what if he does have an issue. what does that say about you!
He's aboot to moo the lown! Watch oot.
@squidopolis get a murray and see youll like it better
Гениально
McĹovin?
damn grass flipping piles !
Do not waste the money on a edger that is shown in the video. a weed eater does a way better job then any edger will. If you cannot edge with a weed eater due to inexperience or physical limitations that come with age or disability i recommend a echo srm weed eater that allows you to change attachments to a edger. It is worth your time to research more into the echo line.
Is it me, or does the host appear to be channeling Nicolas Cage?
0:50 you shouldn't be tilting the lawnmower like this - oil can leak from the engine and get onto the air filter. This will cause the air inlet to become blocked. You probably won't be able to start the engine if the air filter is clogged but if you can then you run the risk of having the spark plugs going or the engine seizing if the air filter is not replaced asap.
ALWAYS TIP THE LAWNMOWER WITH THE AIR FILTER FACING THE SKY OR BACK ON ITS HANDLES.
The worst thing you could ever do when mowing the lawn is fill or tip the mower on the lawn. Gas kills the lawn instantly!
My job is mowing peoples lawns and I'm 13 only gt paid 10 dolarz lol
Hey, Buddy. My eyes are down here!
Why do you want to promote root growth? That's just more mowing. And why spend a shit load on an edger when you can just use the mower which does just as good of a job and is more efficient...
I disagree with Weston. An edger looks a thousand times better than a weedeater.
I couldn't focus on the content of the video..
why this video is for aliens that are trying to disguise as humans and the trimmers arent edgers even when the "edger" is just a trimmer engine on a mount
You r not suppose to tilt the lawn mower :/
Not accurate. You just need to ensure that the air filter is pointed up when the mower is tilted, which was the case in this video.
I have my own landscape business if ypu need any thing done call me
