Hoop is SOOOO MUCH more comfy. I had my original stud in for 10 months and it still hurt to sleep on it. After changing it to a hoop, one month later it is fully healed and perf fine to sleep on. so all in all, took abt a solid year to heal up👹
So I keep hearing different things when it comes to aftercare (was told this by 2 different professionals when I got my industrial done both times) the first one said to spray it with the aftercare spray they gave me twice a day and to not dry it off, and if it bleeds at all to just run water on my ear in the shower with a gentle stream so it could soften the dried blood and just let it rinse off by itself, I was also told to not move or touch it at all, not even use a qtip to clean it because it could disturb the healing process and take even longer to heal. The second person I went to told me to spray it with the aftercare but to use a qtip to clean around it but I was told by the first one that the fibers from the qtip could get stuck and possibly lead to infection. I have no idea which I should listen to because my ear healed fine both times, I was just stupid and took the piercing out for too long, hence why I had to get it done a second time. I wanna get a helix and I watched this video to see if there was anything else I needed to know but it’s all pretty much the same for the industrial so I know the healing time may be painstaking. And I know that price differs between states and different piercing/tattoo shops but how much do helix’s cost?
Jamani Johnson nope! Same ear. Sleeping was okay, not long after I got my snug on my other ear so I would rotate sleeping sides everyday and try to sleep on my back when I wasn’t fully asleep but they are healing great!
Same! I just got mine pierced a few days ago and it doesnt hurt at all.. the ear is kinda pink but nothing too noticeable.. I also don't sleep on the side of the piercing so maybe that helps? Only time it hurts is if someone yanks on it (accidentally) but other than that love the hoop in my helix ♡
YO SAMEEEE. My mum let me get mine pierced for my 15th birthday and I have a 14k gold hoop. Idk why but I can't relate to the agonizing pain everyone's talking about??? Maybe it's my pain tolerance but unless it's accidentally bumped it's 100% fine. And there been many night where I could comfortably sleep on it (not too hard but there little to no pain.) Hoops were more convenient for me but like you said... Everyone's experience is just different ig 🤣🤣🤣
I got mine done yesterday ( December 3rd 2021) and it’s been pretty good so far. I’m gonna update on the healing, remind me!!! Ok so here’s an update- today is December 27th and it’s healing pretty well. It did got hit by a door 5 days ago which made it a little worse but currently it’s ok. I clean it 3 times a day and twice a day with the ointment. Still not sleeping on this side so it can heal quickly but it’s not painful laying on this side. Ok today is 30/12 and it’s *really red* and very painful I did sleep on that side (once)… so I will have to be very careful with it
How long does the pain lasts ?also when when r u finally able to sleep on the side again .i always sleep on side and I'm getting both sides pierced so I'm a bit scared
Okay, so everyone said it doesn’t hurt, but I think because I have a low pain tolerance and because I was freaking out, made mine hurt so much worse then everyone else is making out it does. So I suggest not freaking out when you get it, and just sit and get it. Tbh it hurts more having the jewellery put in then it does to get the needle.🥰
@@laiba8220 I just had one pierced (done now!) and it was actually nowhere near as bad as I expected. If you’re worried about pain, I personally would have been fine getting both done, but I just got one because I prefer the look. Got my lobes done than my helix done a day later. It hurt less than lobes. 0/10. I’m on the 2nd week and it’s usually fine, but it’ll flare every now and then. If you get a helix, prepare for it to flare up at random. Can be fine one day, then swollen and painful the next!

3 years ago I got my cartilage pierced and I got it done with a hoop. I did not have any complications, any infections none of that. But the healing took 2 years. I do not believe it was bc of the hoop I slept on it all the time and I think sweat and just pressure will prolong it. I took well care of it, starting out with a hoop personally was so much easier to take care of then a stud because you can see the start and end of the hole with a hoop and a stud is on top of the holes, it’s not very easy to clean. I plan to get a conch piercing next, and even if I’m told not to do a ring like I was with this one it was much easier then a stud .
Whaha I took mine out after one year and a month. In that year it gave me a lot of trouble like it flared up every night. My piercer told me my body was not accepting the jewellery 😭 I miss it but it was the best thing to do
@@Nikki-fl6op i think that the best thing you can do is too look after the way it's healed. my piercing was still verry sore after 12 months. I wish yall would say the size of the jewelry you get pierced with to start and the size you downgrade too later. I honestly dont know the lengths these bars are supposed to be when buying replacement jewelry.
Did you wait the full 9 months before you downsized? My piercer wants to change it after just a month. Its healing fine. Just want to see what others have done. Thanks!
It’s been half a year since I got my helix piercing and tbh when I first got it wasn’t bad at all and it wasn’t painful for me because I have high pain tolerance. It still kinda bleeds a lil from time to time but I’m gonna change it out soon with a hoop when it gets better. So anyone who wants to get a helix piercing go get one! It’s super cute
"Don't wanna get hoops" Oops. I got hoops cause that's all I wear. I thin they're healing alright as of right now. What complications could there be with having hoops as the starter?
you could get bumps because of the pressure points rings can cause. also the constant movement of the ring cause cause issues, and these bumps won't go away unless u put a flat back or stud in
Wait I was a bit confused about the “switching to smaller/shorter jewelry” part. Did he mean to do it after the 6 month healing period? Cuz it sounded like he meant earlier?
@@saudbakhsh3 it does work.... Mustard oil or coconut oil... I use them both for my piercings and they help alottttt... like when my piercing is paining these oils just make it fine

This morning I woke up and it was sticking out again. I read somewhere it means the swelling went down so there's more space but it looks wrong. So can anyone tell me if this is normal?
Generally it will swell when you get it pierced first few weeks then it will go down. If you got pierced with correct jewelry that longer you would see that spacing where it’s “longer”
Am I gonna go through weird discomfort for regular ear piercings as it heals and I have a little red mark under my ear lobe its twist smoothly I don’t know what it is been have this weird feeling on my right ear lobe and I have both ears pierced there’s no bad signs of the piercings just the werid discomfort
This morning I went to get a triple earlobe piercing and that lady used a gun since it's supposed to be on the soft part of the ears only. Turned out, she did a low helix on my ear and tore the cartilage with her gun. I don't know if I should remove that piercing completely or prepare myself for about 6 months of sleepless nights. Any advice please?
I’d go back for a longer stud and/or a hoop! You want it to be able to swell up for the first few months while it’s healing, then you can go in and get it sized down. You don’t want your skin to swallow the stud when it’s too short - way too painful >.
I might ask my parents about this on my next b-day or something. It looks super cute. I have my lobes pierced and if I were to get more piercings I'd want them on my ears.
So that means I can't buy my own earring and bring it to the piercer? I want to get my helix pierced and wanted to buy an earring from your website. Since it has a lot of variety to choose from. Or can I contact someone to help me choose which one would give me enough room for the swelling?
We can help you with that in our studio when you visit. Our dedication staff is experienced and knowledgeable and can help you find the right jewelry for your piercings without any complications. For initial piercings we pierce with longer or larger jewelry to compensate for the swelling.

Wow perfect timing, I’m getting a double helix today
Howd it go?
that just means on both ears right ? how was it sleeping on them ?
Jamani Johnson nope! Same ear. Sleeping was okay, not long after I got my snug on my other ear so I would rotate sleeping sides everyday and try to sleep on my back when I wasn’t fully asleep but they are healing great!
i have my double helix and im still watching this haha
I'm getting a new helix piercing next Wednesday. it'll be my first "big" piercing! I'm really excited but super nervous
how did it go?? I think im going to get mine done sunday for my birthday. did it hurt? 1-10
im getting a flat and helix piercing for my birthday and i am so excited
When mine was pierced, i started with a hoop and thought it was extremely comfortable. Everyone has different experiences 🤷🏻♀️
Same! I just got mine pierced a few days ago and it doesnt hurt at all.. the ear is kinda pink but nothing too noticeable.. I also don't sleep on the side of the piercing so maybe that helps? Only time it hurts is if someone yanks on it (accidentally) but other than that love the hoop in my helix ♡
i’m trying to convince my parents to allow me to get one 😭 ALSO we have the same last name! haha
D Lockhart good luck. I hope they let you. But yeah, im liking you last name too😂
I was worried when he said no hoop too 😂. In my head I was like “holy cannoli I did that”
just got my helix piercing done 6 hours ago and y'all in the comments section SCARING TF OUTTA ME
I got mine done yesterday ( December 3rd 2021) and it’s been pretty good so far.
Ok today is 30/12 and it’s *really red* and very painful I did sleep on that side (once)… so I will have to be very careful with it
How long did the redness and swelling take to heal? I had mine 3 days ago and its still red an hurts when i touch it🤷🏻♂️
How long does the pain lasts ?also when when r u finally able to sleep on the side again .i always sleep on side and I'm getting both sides pierced so I'm a bit scared
@@marialovesmarklee after 3 weeks i could sleep on it normally and move my ear also without pain unless i slap it then it hurts like hell
@@elieme7719 thanks for the help.i got my lobe peirced today
How long did you wait to change it?
Okay, so everyone said it doesn’t hurt, but I think because I have a low pain tolerance and because I was freaking out, made mine hurt so much worse then everyone else is making out it does. So I suggest not freaking out when you get it, and just sit and get it. Tbh it hurts more having the jewellery put in then it does to get the needle.🥰
Watching this the night before getting my helix done lol
Are u getting it on one ear or both ears coz I’m getting my done in two day but I can’t decide
@@laiba8220 I just had one pierced (done now!) and it was actually nowhere near as bad as I expected. If you’re worried about pain, I personally would have been fine getting both done, but I just got one because I prefer the look. After the initial piercing there was basically no pain until I accidentally rolled onto the ear in my sleep lol
I had to turn on the subtitles 😂😅 man you speak so fast ! Thanks for the tips 💜
Use me as a watching this the night before your helix piercing button lmao
I got my helix done over a month ago and it bled for the first time last night 😅 it’s definitely been an experience
Got my lobes done than my helix done a day later. It hurt less than lobes. 0/10. I’m on the 2nd week and it’s usually fine, but it’ll flare every now and then. If you get a helix, prepare for it to flare up at random. Can be fine one day, then swollen and painful the next!
Hello, just wondering how long should I wait until going swimming in the sea or pool, after getting my ear pierced?
2-4 weeks usually
@@Shopluluave thank you!
My helix piercing went wrong my jewelry was too short and caused swelling and infection , my ball came off and my piercing closed
Helix piercings are a pain to heal😭
Ikr I just got mine done today and it hurts already it didn't hurt when I got it done just a few hours after xD
GACHA SCARED I’m getting mine done soon- i’m scared😂 I have been thinking for few days now
@@notjess9698 you might have already had it done but don't worry! I got mine a few days ago and it was fine :)
I got mine done a few days ago and now it’s hot and pink. Done all the cleaning, about to do a saltwater solution to soak it.
@@gachascared8844 got mine last night. It’s true it hurts only after a few hours. Hope it will heal quickly
I just got mine and it did not hurt at all. The only pain is when i got pierce but it only last 3 seconds
I love helix piercings ❤ I wanna get 4 on my left ear
getting my pierced tomorrow for my birthday- wish me luck! im really scared
I got a helix at the end of December. I don't take care of it and I sleep on it. It is still a bit sore but other than that it is fine. I did get an irritation bump but it went away on its own
No way!!! I'm getting a double helix tomorrow and I just wanted to see some stuff. I didn't realise that this was posted TODAY!! Like talk about good timing.
I did get a hoop because I asked for one 😬😬 what should I do, just got it done today
I just got mine, I thought it was going to hurt cause I kept scooting away but when she did it I was like “wait that’s it?” But it might hurt after
I’m getting mine on Saturday, how do you do the aftercare?
Whaha I took mine out after one year and a month. In that year it gave me a lot of trouble like it flared up every night. My piercer told me my body was not accepting the jewellery 😭 I miss it but it was the best thing to do
I did the same. Mine was two years and it still wouldn’t heal so I took it out 😭
is there a way to know a head of time if your ear will reject it ?
@@Nikki-fl6op i think that the best thing you can do is too look after the way it's healed. my piercing was still verry sore after 12 months. It was still red and thick and easly irritated. for me that was a sign that is was not good XD but my earlobes healed terrible too, so if you know that your body heals difficault you can know.
@@juditha2512 Yess I took mine out after about a year of infections... Just got it re do in a slightly lower place oops- let's see if it works this time..
Also, my earlobes both healed perfectly but not first helix so yeah it's trial and error I guess
Just got a double helix piercing wasn’t bad
I've had my done now for 1 month I did it myself bought i piercing gun off amazon its done me good with no infections at all😊
I pierced my helix last month but I didn’t know that it took so long to heal. And I can’t wear it too school. So I’m going to keep on getting put into seclusion every day until I get excluded for about a month. And I will do online lessons and it will give my ear more time to heal🤦♀️I should’ve checked before I did it because there is no chance I’m taking it out
I wish yall would say the size of the jewelry you get pierced with to start and the size you downgrade too later. I honestly dont know the lengths these bars are supposed to be when buying replacement jewelry.
Just got my second piercing today and I’m already thinking about a helix piercing 😭
i have 4 sets of piercings and i got my helix pierced today! honestly makes your ears look really cool and beautiful
Im wanted a helix or a cartilage for a long time im getting one today thanks for this!
I had my helix done a week ago and it didn’t hurt ☺️
how is it now?
@@emiemi666 it’s great most people say that it takes a while to heal so that you can change the earring but mine was all good
@@Lilo13082 when did you change it?
@@colomccarter4774 I kept it in for a bit as I was scared it would heal but then I had to change it so like 3 months after
My double helix took three months to heal, but my forward helix is a bit more temperamental.
I have my helix and me generally prefer the ball bc the hoop is harder to put threw my ear
Should I get a square Huggie piercing for my first
Thanks for sharing!
It was a substantial information.
God bless 🙏
❤️❤️❤️
hi i was wondering if your hair gets stuck behind the helix often
OMG I'm trying to listen to the video, but he is speaking way to fast.
Mine took 9 months to heal completely
Did you wait the full 9 months before you downsized? My piercer wants to change it after just a month. Its healing fine. Just want to see what others have done. Thanks!
Can I get a bigger diamond stud circle as the first one going into my helix ?
Im getting mine done tomorrow at 12:30 and im super anxious about it😭
Just had mine done yesterday 🥰
It’s been half a year since I got my helix piercing and tbh when I first got it wasn’t bad at all and it wasn’t painful for me because I have high pain tolerance. It still kinda bleeds a lil from time to time but I’m gonna change it out soon with a hoop when it gets better. So anyone who wants to get a helix piercing go get one! It’s super cute
"Don't wanna get hoops"
Oops. I got hoops cause that's all I wear. I thin they're healing alright as of right now. What complications could there be with having hoops as the starter?
I think you could get a bump on the piercing.
you could get bumps because of the pressure points rings can cause. also the constant movement of the ring cause cause issues, and these bumps won't go away unless u put a flat back or stud in
the main issue isn't the bumps, usually the ring can move bacteria around much more easily into the piercing, causing a longer healing time
Keloid 😬
Wait I was a bit confused about the “switching to smaller/shorter jewelry” part. Did he mean to do it after the 6 month healing period? Cuz it sounded like he meant earlier?
I just got a helix piercing few moments back... It was by gun.. Didn't hurted that time but rn paining alot so I applied mustard oil and it works
does mustard oil work, I saw that you're not supposed to put any oil and petroleum jelly because it clogs the piercing
@@saudbakhsh3 it does work.... Mustard oil or coconut oil... I use them both for my piercings and they help alottttt... like when my piercing is paining these oils just make it fine
I just got my helix piercing done and i love it but it does hurt.
is h20ocean good as a healing solution?
dumb question maybe i wasnt paying attention but how do you get it down sized without changing the jewelry then
I had the same question
I got my first helix last week and everyone says I’m to young lol (I’m 13)
I got my helix piercing 11 days ago and 2 days ago I noticed that the stud was sticking out a bit, there was a bigger gap then before but when I took a bath my hair got caught on it and it pulled it back in where it usually was.
Love you guys so much!!!💜
I’m watching this at 11:46 knowing I’m getting one tomorrow 😂
Is it weird that mine stops hurting on my 2nd week?
Does anyone know how long does the pain last for because it’s still hurts after a week
So you arent supposed to twist it ti make sure it doesnt heal attached to the earring?
Wait hood on I got it today and it’s not long like the jewelry is pretty fitted already is that bad ? What do I do ?
I’d go back for a longer stud and/or a hoop! You want it to be able to swell up for the first few months while it’s healing, then you can go in and get it sized down. You don’t want your skin to swallow the stud when it’s too short - way too painful >.
I might ask my parents about this on my next b-day or something. It looks super cute. I have my lobes pierced and if I were to get more piercings I'd want them on my ears.
How long should the initial piercing be so it can heal properly?
Should we turn it?
So that means I can't buy my own earring and bring it to the piercer? I want to get my helix pierced and wanted to buy an earring from your website. Since it has a lot of variety to choose from. Or can I contact someone to help me choose which one would give me enough room for the swelling?
We can help you with that in our studio when you visit. Our dedication staff is experienced and knowledgeable and can help you find the right jewelry for your piercings without any complications. For initial piercings we pierce with longer or larger jewelry to compensate for the swelling.
I'm getting my double helix done tmr
I bought a disposable one and did it. It doesnt hurt at first the numbing and throbbing pain comes after a few hours and at night like it's reminding me of what i have done on the ear i sleep on 🙃 i use water mic with salt to clean it once a day. It doesnt hurt much tho but ill try to take others advice to use a travel pillow to lessen the strain i give to my pierced ear
you could try putting a blanket under your head! it worked for me!
Just got mine done today. I love it but it’s throbbing so much. Is it ok if I put and ice pack on it or should I just take some medicine and let it throb
Update it’s infected ☹️
Omg
Destiny washington don’t worry it’s not infected anymore.
the only concern i have is that everybody says its painful but mine doesnt even hurt, it feels like i didnt even got a piercing at all but the pierced part is reddish, is that normal?
i feel the same way! The only time i feel its there is when im cleaning it, then after it returns to normal
@@francheskaignacio4619 okay fast forward im in my second month after the piercing and everything turns out to be fine, i actually think mine was already healed, i seriously think we have nothing to worry about babe its an advantage actually.
Got mine today, it keeps getting caught with my hair and hair washing. When is it able to be slept on. I find piercings have the long term heal for complete healing but how long is it till it isnt agony to even lay on it or push hair back and accidentally touching?
I got a piercing bump. How can I get rid of it?
I had one on my forward helix and they do go away on their own but you can use things like aspirin crushed and just cleaning it often a lot which helps it go away faster, hope this helps :)
