Shock! Horror! The time has come to SELL my incredible Porsche 911 993 C4S.
You know the one, it’s green with a tan interior, the classic wide 993 body, and thanks to recent fettling by Bahnsport, it now drives as well as it looks.
This is one of the all-time Porsche sleeper greats, an under-the-radar symphony of flat 6 deliciousness that only an idiot would let slip though his fingers.
But that’s exactly what I am doing…
And in this week’s episode I talk about what I love about this car, why I bought it, and why, sadly, I am now letting it go. And since it’s TheCarGuys you also get some farewell Beans. Can’t say fairer than that, right?

Damian, that's a damn good car and honestly you should think about it since you have a tendency to sell amazing cars then regret that move (TDF, F40 for example).
I feel like this car was owed more than you gave it. From the off it was a ‘drunken purchase’, it felt like it was an awkward, unwanted child in the garage. For a bona fide classic (as I’m sure many viewers will agree) there was very little content on this fabulous curio.
If I might be so bold, this felt more like a sales pitch than a goodbye video…..

@@gregrolfe3505Nothing wrong with his using his UA-cam channel to give him more exposure when selling a car. These channels take TONS of work to keep going and the guy should benefit from it this way. It’s great for the buyer too…gives a transparency to the car that many buyers don’t normally get.
I would have kept this car and the Ferrari TDF forever. Wonderful video.
That’s a gorgeous 993. I almost bought a guards red 993 C4S aerokit manual circa 2010. Had 30k miles price was $32k. I hesitated for a few hours and someone grabbed it! Still kicking myself! I bought a 1996 C4 instead. More miles and more money but it was a great car. I sold it way before prices got crazy.

Stunning. A 993 is definitely on my list one day. Rather than going newer than my 981 I think a 993 would be perfect. And, for me, it’s still the ultimate 911.
I sold my 981 Boxster Spyder in part because I only ever wanted to drive my 993

I was telling myself he is going to get a C2S before you spoke about your future 993 plans. Would be awesome if you’d buy every one of these 993 you mentioned (not all at the same time 😂). Most British color combo you could ever dream of in a 993 👍it’s funny how wide the C4S is on British B-roads. I would love for you to compare your driving experience of your 991 Touring vs your future 993 C2S 😊😅

What a great car - I have always loved the 993
Thanks, great video. I sold my 993 C4 in 2022 twenty years after I bought it. It was also a late 1997 car in immaculate standard condition. It took me about 10 years to actually part with it as every time I thought about selling it I couldn’t bring myself to part with it but in the end I let it go. I have moved on and have no regrets. Thanks again.

The way see it is, your a lucky person to be able to own a number of these beautiful types of cars but like you said you only have so much room. This could potentially go to someone with a smaller collection who uses it more. You’ve enjoyed your time with her now onto the next beauty 💚

Less is more with a 993. The manual Carrera is a pure expression of a 911. A 993 S, 4S, Turbo, Turbo S for collectors. A basic manual 993 Carrera is for drivers to wring it out and stick 250k+ miles on it.

993 RS !! That's the way to make money!! I owned a beautiful 993S. I sold it for a ton 5 years ago and it's almost doubled in price already :(
I had a 97 993 C4S. I sold mine about 8 years ago for a 991. Mine was black over sand beige with the factory turbo package. Great car, but I really do not miss it. Is that a factory spoiler? Anyway, nice video and be well.
Agree. I went from a 993 to a 991. There is a nostalgia to the 993, but the 991 made me forget all about it after a few months.

Love the 993, the targa is super good value if I had the cash.
Selling this car for another, cooler version of a 993 is the only good reason to get rid of it. BY FAR my favourite generation of 911’s.
I like everything about that, my favourite exterior colour and one of my favourite interior colours. I have a Lapis blue with Cinnamon brown interior 996 turbo, had I seen this for sale when you purchased, it would have been hard to choose.

Wondering if you're having seller's regret? A good replacement would have been the '96 or '97 993/911turbo. I regretted selling mine and still do especially since prices for them are through the roof.

Would have sold other cars like the BMW750i. When parts become a nightmare due to failing supply chains, the 993 is probably one of the few cars, without computers etc., that will drive happily! Your Landrover and 993 will be your runners & most dependable cars!

If you buy a 993 Turbo S in burgandy I might forgive you. Cool as the 993 RS is there are probably better options for the money. Harry Metcalf showed the way with his RS replica a couple of years ago, perfectly drivable without being silly money. Why not a 996 GT2? They're more accessible or am I mystaken?

Damian, please don’t sell it! The 993 in this understated colour combo, reminded me of my 8v Saab 900 turbo! The 993 is a legend! You will kill yourself once it’s gone! 😢

It's a lovely lovely car and I do love the 4S widebody .
However I must say your description of how it is "so classic and is the perfect bridge of the classic 60's/70's 911 with modern tech " has been taken from the global opinion of the more highly sought after 964 model , to give your 993 an added desirability ? The 993 totally revamped shape with softened sloping front lost the iconic/classic silhouette and gained more modern suspension.
Some people prefer the 993 ( more modern), some the 964 which is more visceral .😊 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder too .
Why not upgrade storage.i have a 90s style mancave and it looks awesome in there,my retro music plays when it docs 😂

I drive a 992 GT3 Touring Manual and have owned a 993 C2S and a 993 Turbo (both manuals) - No way would I trade my 992 touring for a 993 C4S - a ridiculous statement.
