I can't believe how nice this thing is on FM! I purchased a Leotec LT-606B a few years ago and it pretty much was a complete nightmare. The only thing good about it was that it was pretty sensitive on AM. It did however experience the same snap crackle pop overload thing, and was quite annoying on strong stations. Believe it or not, the plastics seem quite improved over my older model. The speaker here is most definitely better too. I could go on and on, but my point is I can definitely see the improvements they've made not only in features but also in quality. I pretty much wrote off the Leotec brand before, but thanks to your review I will consider purchasing one in the future.
Just received the new Sangean mmr99. Wow! Incredible sound. Now going to test all the radio’s functions. So far this radio is amazing. Way better then the CC Crane Solar. Worth the $. Lots of features. Only thing I don’t like is appears if the radio is on weather alert mode you can’t listen to stations. Can’t wait for Todderbert to review the radio
Sanyo had a similar style radio way back in the day. Tecsun still sells one that looks to be a clone of the Sanyo. I like the style - but MW not good, well, you know me , that breaks the deal. Great review , interesting radio. 📻🙂
I almost bought the Sony ripoff! I figured how bad could it be? Instead, I’ve decided to make more use of the numerous radios I currently own, 2 of which I bought based on your reviews. 😊
The sound quality is not bad, but for SW listening this is not the best radio you can get for the money. MW reception seems to be better than SW reception. Dear "Toddebert" can you make a review like this about Leotec Lt-2010, too? Thank you!
Fezeqin Shortwave Solar Radio is an Upgrade... looks interesting for 12.98. Surprised the Fezegin has AC, Solar, rechargeable, and battery! Wonder if it has the same FM performance as the Leotec.
For ultra portability I like the CC Skywave SSB, for Home Use the Eton Elite Executive, D-808, and Tecsun PL-330 get used often. If I don't need SSB, I pick up the Sihuadon R-108, or the regular CC Skywave.
@@todderbert nothing better than listening to the music I grew up with on my Panasonic RF-1060 using a cheap FM transmitter and my Napster subscription. Playing Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything really brings back the memories, and it sounds like I remember it.

The band window looks like the Tecsun R304
I wonder why they made SW 5 have such a long range when many Chinese and Koreans domestic shortwave statons are in that band?

Hi todderbert
What is the purpose of using the FM transmitter?
to broadcast royalty free music to the radio for demos. in the home they are nice, mainly used with smart devices.
