I'm envious of you getting to hear Black Sabbath for the first time. That's something I'll never get to do again.
I tell people the same thing about The Hobbit and Lotr.
Its the entire appeal to Reaction videos from my perspective as a consumer of them. Its like bringing an cool album to a friends house or making mix tapes for them was when I was coming up many years ago.
"...'cause smokin' and trippin' is all that you do. YEeEaaHhhhhh!"
Symptom of the universe ...... nuff said
The Writ is killer too! : )
@@godbluffvdgg you are correct .
The Writ is another incredible song !
@@billwicketvogel1787 Sab head since 75...Saw them on the Never Say Die tour...No two Sab songs are the same, in any fashion..The only consistency is Ozzy...That's why I love that band so much..
More Sabbath- “Hand of Doom”
Hell yeah Brutha!
A national acrobat
Love that fucking song, so damn heavy.
Cant argue with them two of my faves.I will throw in The Warning it may finish you off bro!
As far as I'm concerned, "Hand Of Doom", is the first White Rap song. 😂 Such great sample material too, if you want to cut it up. Lol.
'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' might have their ultimate, most savage breakdown.
Fuck yeah! Snowblind, too, as a runner-up
Can't forget about wheels of confusion! The ending is just pure ⚡🧨⚡
NIB, Black Sabbath(the song), Children of the grave, After forever, hand of doom, god is dead, into the void, planet caravan, symptom of the universe, warning, can be added to the list too. The Wizard can't be forgotten either.lol
Just to make it simple. Pick a song....any song. It's good. Lol
“Into the void “that’s a song for you
A very deep rabbit hole is Black Sabbath!
Its not a rabbit hole. Its a never ending tunnel.
"'Cause smokin' and trippin' is all that you do- yeaaaaahhhh!"
...which segues nicely into the first song on the next album...
Huh huh hhug.... Bumpd da... Bum da da.... 😋
Nice, I never made the segue association - it fits though.
Coughs aggressively
Planet Caravan will give you a different vibe from Black Sabbath!🔥🔥🔥
The bass is DEADLY in this song!! His groove is just SO DAMN COOL!!
Yes yes Geezer butler is the shit!!! Haha haha 🖤🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🖤
@@jameslemmons9737 You are probably already familiar, but check out "The Real Me" by The Who. Probably the best rock/bass song recorded ever. (my opinion).
Perfect reaction, perfect video. Just AUDIO. Music is not VISUAL. Pick videos with no distractions. If there are only "visual" videos, close your eyes and stare with your ears. Our senses distract from each other. It's about the music, not the video. Good work!!
His doctor said smokin' an' trippin' is all that you do, which is what I did on many occasions while listening to Sabbath.
Love this song! Sweet leaf is great also.
Still smoking to that song every now and then
Under The Sun has the deepest, darkest riff of all. Then the switch-up. OMG!! The ultimate Sabbath!!
I would suggest their very first album self-titled Black Sabbath the song Black Sabbath that's where metal originated
It's amazing the guitar work Tony Iommi with the tips of his fingers chopped off.
Congrats on discovering Black Sabbath.
To put things into perspective,
Consider this... Black Sabbath is credited for birthing a whole new genre- Heavy Metal!
I remember buying this when it fist came out, 1970. Got it home and it just blew my mind. So heavy!!
Glad you like Sabbath. I've been rocking out to them since 1972, and even though they're retired now, they are still one of my top 10 bands of all time.
yes hand of doom
The song " Supernaut"
The song is about the skin heads back in the 70's that wore combat boots. He is calling them fairies (slang word for gay) because they called him one for having long hair. The dwarf comes in because after seeing the skin heads and dropping acid(LSD) he did start to see the "fairies dancing with dwarves".
Yes, that seems to be the story, he was a was a hairy and walking home got picked on by some skinheads with their Dr Martens
@@karlwilli1316 I think Ozzy and Gzr got chased by a bunch of them and Geez might hav got stomped a little bit loll.. I'v read so many things and seen so many of their interviews, I can't remember all the stories anymore. Setting Ward on fire just for drunken bar fun are some of the better ones.. lolll
If you're about the guitar, you need to explore more Sabbath. The bands first six albums are loaded with badass songs.
They were calling skinheads fairies, which is an old way of calling them gay. In this period it would have been a huge musical conflict, because the skinheads were into 1960s reggae, and would have hated what Black Sabbath were playing, and would have thought they looked like hippies. Skins vs hippies was the next youth culture war after mods vs rockers. But of course Black Sabbath weren't middle class hippies, they were hard working class blokes who could fight.
I saw an interview of him referencing to that and that the fairies would jump them when ever they would come across them.
"The lyrics were inspired by an incident after a Sabbath concert in 1970. The band was attacked by a bunch of Skinheads after the show, injuring Tony Iommi and forcing them to cancel their next performance." Taken from Song Facts.
Skin heads were into reggae? Forreal? That's hilarious
@@markyates1116 All true. The look developed on London housing estates where white kids and and the kids of West Indian immigrants were next door neighbours and friends, and all listening to Jamaican Reggae. The buzzcuts, boots and trousers rolled up to above the ankle came from Jamaican Rudeboys. Other stuff like Fred Perry shirts, Harrington and bomber jackets, and 18 hole cherry red Doc Martens boots came from expensive fashion shops at the time.
@@markyates1116 These are U.K. Skinheads...so. there's that 😎
INTO THE VOID.
BEHIND THE WALL OF SLEEP.
SNOW BLIND.
HAND OF DOOM.
A NATIONAL ACROBAT.
Their first 5 albums plus the 2 they did with Ronnie James Dio singing were just phenomenal....
There are 4 with Dio, 9 with Ozzy, 1 with Ian Gillan, 1 with Glenn Hughes, and 5 with Tony Martin. Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die were mediocre, the rest are killer.
Or one that might really change your view of Black Sabbath “After Forever”.
Yeah! Also, “Lord of This World.” Dio-era “Heaven and Hell” and “Country Girl” would be cool, too
@@lumikarhu7340 Have you heard the Heaven and Hell demo that dropped a couple of weeks ago? Featuring Geoff Nichols on bass, an early jam session/heavier version of Heaven and Hell, "On and on" Here on YT.
@@ballsmckinley2443 No, I hadn’t - listening right now! Thanks, dude!!🤘This dirty and heavy demo is sick. Man, Ronnie’s voice is always soooo good, too
@@lumikarhu7340 🔥👊
Stryper did a cover of After forever. They didnt change anything of the song, they just rocked it out. Its awesome. If you havent heard that version, check it out.
Something for everyone here! The originators of metal playing metal, a funky groove any R&B band would be proud of, a jazz break, the groove again and near classical pentatonics and octive streches. My personal fav Sabbath song.
check out 'Brown Sabbath' covering this song. Adding in some Jazz fusion. They do a couple covers also.

“Into the void “that’s a song for you
Dude you will LOVE this song.
trippin' to their first three albums is a memory they can NEVER take away...
Black Sabbath got a bad rap from people who didn't or wouldn't listen
Check out “Warning”, it’s one of their best.
Right on. Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation cover that has become a Sabbath classic. Their version is the high water mark for sure.
Absolutely it is so powerful.
One of the first heavy rhythm sections in Rock music. I would suggest The Wizard.
Definitely hand of doom
Stoked on all the Sabbath you’re doing, dude!
"They badass." I don't know how to sum it up any better than that.
MOAR SABBATH. "hand of doom" and "children of the grave" for it's meaning. Sabbath bloody sabbath or supernaut because thoes are vibes
"SWEET LEAF"
"SNOWBLIND"
"HEAVEN&HELL"
"ZERO THE HERO"
",NO STRANGER TO LOVE"
Sabbath invented the term
"METAL"......
it had to do with where they're from
In Brighton, England a Hard-Working
STEEL TOWN...with a Lot of poor, struggling folks trying to get on.
",I think "LEAD WORKS" was involved in the town if I remember correctly,
But a lot of folks were Struggling to find work.
💕 SABBATH !!!!
STAY SAFE ❤️
KEEP WELL
EVERYONE....
Hey man if you want another Sabbath song with some heavy riffs you should check out Sweet Leaf or Snowblind. Keep up the good work!
I've been a Black Sabbath follower since 1969 and glad to see you reacting this song and to the fathers of heavy metal. Welcome to the Sabbath family as you'll never go back once you start to listen.
I recommend:
Hand of Doom
Symptom of the Universe
Meglomania
I grew up with this band lucky to see them with Ozzy on their last tour with him
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. William Thomas Ward on drums.
He is a monster on the drums!!!!! It just crushes me how under appreciated he is, it’s criminal.
A lot of there earlier songs are inspired by drug filled dreams/trip's. But also a lot of there texts uses metaphors.
....You actually listen to the songs and do not constantly interrupt. I appreciate this. It allows me to watch you face for clues whether you are enjoying the music or not.
I hate the people that constantly interrupt... It tells me they like to hear themselves talk. Its about them...not the music. Thank you.

Thanks for the sub
Sometimes its best to interupted so the video doesnt get blocked.
I know some interruption is required.
I'm referring to those that stop it every 10-15 seconds with..."Hold on! Hold on!...blah blah blah...".
There are a number of these reviewers out there. Very irritating. I gave them a chance. Same as I gave you a chance.
You're polite and listen to significant portions of songs before pausing.
If I want to listen to the songs... I play them myself.
But... I want to know a reviewer is actually listening to the songs...and not just listening to themselves talking.
I definitely understand, thank you and I do really enjoy music so it means alot to hear that.
Great reaction, do "Into The Void" next, it's a must!
Another great one Embryo/Children of the Grave
Sabbath have the heaviest songs which aren't straight black metal or other extreme forms. Black Sabbath, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Symptom of the Universe to name my favourites.
Well, to be precise, add trash metal and Doom. The best of their time. Then Judas Priest came about.
Led Zeppelin sparkled what became the mainline Hard Rock. Deep Purple did what would develop as Speed Metal, with Priest as well. This based on the sound only, not the period.
“ All I have to give you is a love that never dies, the symptom of the universe is written in your eyes”
One of the best lyrics EVER!!!!!
Alot of what the Media said about them was blown out of proportion. Because they were anti establishment and went against the norms. Long hair, hard music, different look etc, the media labeled them as evil, druggies, and just negative stuff, but if you listen to their music it was pure magic. And they talked ALOT about the problems in society and the world. Great pioneers of heavy rock with a lot of blues influence
Bill Ward, him and Bonzo started all this shit! Thank God!!!
Electrical funeral
Lord of this world
N.I.B
Children of the grave
Actually any sabbath song is gold.
One of my all time favorites
This band is the grandfather's of heavy metal. They were the first heavy metal band ever. They took the blues, jazz, funk and simply set them to heavier electronic instrumentation. Ozzie's voice was used as a fourth instrument in the band. The bass player Geezer Butler and lead guitarist Tony iomi are considered two of the best to ever play their instruments. Bill Ward was the most underrated drummer in music. To put it simply everything that has ever been done with heavy metal, was done by Black Sabbath first. You should try and listen to a song called warning off of their first album. It's one of the most underrated songs they ever did.
I think it is fair to mention Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin also, as “Grandfathers of Rock”
Steppenwolf came up with phrase "Heavy Metal " and the rest is history
Best song lyrics, party line ever, cause smokin' and trippin' is all that you do. Ozzy's life, this was circa 1970. I started partying about 14, not proud but the rage with the album playing back then was you could reverse your turn table, mind you no 8 track, no cassettes, no cd's, but you could play the album backwards, yeah right, and hear the Devil. All the parents were told, so that thought we were doomed, but as much as I partied early on, experimented, and at 60 still have some brews, and now a grand parent, I can't relate...It never played out, for them or me.
Black Sabbath never gets old
“Sign Of The Southern Cross” from “The Mob Rules” album. The southern cross is a constellation.
That shit ain't Sabbath
The guitarist Tony Iommi plays with a couple prosthetic fingers
The story I read many years ago. A group of guys kicked the hell out of Ozzy on his way home from the pub one night. This song is the response from Black Sabbath. “ Fairies wear boots!! “
Black Sabbath Paranoid is such a great album that I enjoy listening to every song to wait for the last song.
This song.... My favorite song
Before they were the metal band "Black Sabbath" they were known as "Earth" and they played mostly blues. Ozzy does the harmonica intro for "The Wizard" which is pretty neat.
That bass & drum line in this song is something from out of this world. All Hail the Grandfathers of Metal, Ozzy still Rules them all!
Bill Ward is just amazing
”Master of reality”......their third album.. probably the best
One of my favourites
The song came about after Ozzy got into a scuffle with some skinheads on his way to rehearsal and came in the room talking about a bunch of ferries wearing boots
I thought it was Geezer, not Ozzy.
The whole band was there but Tony got beat up pretty bad and they had to cancel their next show
The song is about some skinheads that Ozzy once saw. Skinheads were boot-wearing, uniformed anti-hippies. Later on in 1980s Uk, the skinhead uniform and movement became associated with racist groups.
"associated" lmao, thats the nice way of putting it
I thought it was about someone on LSD
@@ericthomas917 A really sideways insult to skinheads - really not clear in the song but the skinhead reference is what I read somewhere.
1970s Birmingham. One of the prominent gangs were the Skinheads who shaved their heads bald and wore heavy boots instead of shoes. One of the nicnames applied to them was "fairies", hence the songs title, Fairies Wear Boots.
Sabbaths instrumental play is raw talent , enjoy the journey , lol
I always loved this song because it pokes fun at being high and drunk, so much so that he looked in a window and saw a Fairy with boots dancing with a dwarf. 🤣
The song is about the skin heads back in the 70's that wore combat boots. He is calling them fairies (slang word for gay) because they called him one for having long hair. The dwarf comes in because after seeing the skin heads and dropping acid(LSD) he did start to see the "fairies dancing with dwarves".
There was always trouble between skinheads and rockers...well..skinheads and everyone really...
You should seriously check out Into the Void. This is when they really got heavy metal started for real.
"Faeries wear boots" ....when the bans 1st encountered "The PUNK ROCKERS"!
What up brother , you just fell into a deep rabbit hole with Sabbath , you're gonna be hooked now...
Keep listening , you havnt even touched the surface yet , Sabbath is Truth spoken when woke was woke 50+ yrs ago...
Still Relevant today
Sabbath = Legendary
Funk blues Rock
Pre-metal all rolled into one...
What's next? The first 4 albums in their entirety. Sure the 6th album has one of my favorite tracks ever in Symptom of the Universe, but imo the later stuff(and I love Dio Sabbath too) can compete with the first four track for track.
Bill Ward on the Drums could swing.
might not have had quite the chops of paice and bonham .....but like ringo , he wrote brilliant parts ..and yep , certainly swang hard .
They began as a Blues band,Earth, but the field was saturated in late 60's.
This is actually 2 songs that switch back and forth. Jack The Stripper is the instrumental and Fairies Wear Boots has lyrics. It runs.....Jack - Fairies - Jack - Fairies. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple are the "unholy trio" that comprises the "roots of metal". The metal genre grew from there. Another noteworthy band that contributed to the genre is Uriah Heep but they went at it from a different angle. You should listen to their song Easy Livin'.
Rock came from Blues..almost all the Early Rockers grew up listening and playing Blues.. Blues based Rock..Like Muddy Waters Said~ The Blues had a Baby...and they called it Rock n Roll~✌
Asa said, the song was written after a run in with Skinheads in London after doing a gig. The term Fairies is a derogatory name for someone, like the Americans call someone a Pussy. Skinheads was a subculture back in the 60/70's and their signature footwear were Doc Martin's high laced boots. Hence "Fairies wear Boots"
Great track from 2nd album. Back it up to the 1st album to get some flavor . Try N.I.B. next and follow with After Forever. from album 3, Master of Reality.
people judge shit without knowing the facts like you said sabbath is down to earth man
The lounge session cover version of this song by a band called Brownout is very worthy of checking out. You won't be disappointed.
The wizard !
they have so many great songs, thanks for reaction.
That's me too.playing air guitar and drums everytime I hear this🤘
The 'chugga-chugga' riff you hear at 3.08 was taken from the Glenn Miller Orchestra. If you substitute the guitars for big band jazz sound you can hear the swing.
Colorado USA Loves "Paranoid"🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 Rock N Roll at its very Best
I've been listening to Black Sabbath for 45 years and they just seem to get better as time goes by, so much to appreciate between the 4 members' talents, all 4 were so just so damn good! I love that ending, gives me a sort of melancholy feeling.
Black Sabbath - "Paranoid" and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"
Hello my friend. Glad you got into Blach Sabbath from back in the day. I love the Blues like Lightning Hopkins "Mojo Hand" and John Lee Hooker. ZZ Top came out in 1972 or 73 with "LaGrange" about an old Texas "house of I'll repute" (a whorehouse) and that song is nothin but old time blues on an electric guitar. They have many songs that you will appreciate. Like "Pearl Necklace" and it ain't about jewelry ha. The BEST ONE to start off with is JESUS JUST LEFT CHICAGO, you got to hear that! Keep enjoying all music, stay safe, and thank you. Deep Purple is another good unheard of today group and BLACK NIGHT is a great one of theirs. They are late 60's.
You nailed it. Sabbath was very conscious of the times. I lived those times. Vietnam war. political upheaval to name a few things.
always fucking brilliant, my first acid trip
Ozzy's voice is one of a kind and Rock N Roll badassery! SWEET LEAF is a must. #pakalolo - Sabbath bloody Sabbath is tasty! Also to watch Ozzy and them do a "REHEARSAL" of the Wizard is WICKED - Ozzy still has it on the HARMONICA too, nobody lost a step in that video. Children of the grave / newer stuff "God is dead" or "end of the beginning" - so many! ENJOYING this rabbit hole.
Electric Funeral 🔥🔥🔥
What Up BM, Ozzy, "the Prince of Darkness" his message is BELIEVE IN YOURSELF OR NO ONE WILL BELIEVE IN YOU.
Under the sun. Under rated but I like that about it
Good to see you FEEL it
SSSAAABBAAAATTHHH!!! Hell yeah!
Oh yeah definitely check out their first 4 albums. Sludgy and groovy stuff. Definitely instrumental in your rock journey.
For an accessibile but dope modern band that's similar, check out the band: Fuzz of the 2010s-Now.
Exellent description mr. Holt
My faves (and I'm a Sabbath fan for decades) are Supernaut (a stunning one), Children of the Grave (their most iconic) and Symptoms of the universe (birth of thrash metal)
