The song is about the skin heads back in the 70's that wore combat boots. He is calling them fairies (slang word for gay) because they called him one for having long hair. The dwarf comes in because after seeing the skin heads and dropping acid(LSD) he did start to see the "fairies dancing with dwarves".

There are 4 with Dio, 9 with Ozzy, 1 with Ian Gillan, 1 with Glenn Hughes, and 5 with Tony Martin. Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die were mediocre, the rest are killer.
They were calling skinheads fairies, which is an old way of calling them gay. In this period it would have been a huge musical conflict, because the skinheads were into 1960s reggae, and would have hated what Black Sabbath were playing, and would have thought they looked like hippies. Skins vs hippies was the next youth culture war after mods vs rockers. But of course Black Sabbath weren't middle class hippies, they were hard working class blokes who could fight.

This band is the grandfather's of heavy metal. They were the first heavy metal band ever. They took the blues, jazz, funk and simply set them to heavier electronic instrumentation. This is actually 2 songs that switch back and forth. Jack The Stripper is the instrumental and Fairies Wear Boots has lyrics. It runs.....Jack - Fairies - Jack - Fairies. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple are the "unholy trio" that comprises the "roots of metal". The metal genre grew from there. Another noteworthy band that contributed to the genre is Uriah Heep but they went at it from a different angle. You should listen to their song Easy Livin'.

Alot of what the Media said about them was blown out of proportion. Because they were anti establishment and went against the norms. Long hair, hard music, different look etc, the media labeled them as evil, druggies, and just negative stuff, but if you listen to their music it was pure magic. And they talked ALOT about the problems in society and the world. Great pioneers of heavy rock with a lot of blues influence

The song is about some skinheads that Ozzy once saw. Skinheads were boot-wearing, uniformed anti-hippies. Later on in 1980s Uk, the skinhead uniform and movement became associated with racist groups.
The 'chugga-chugga' riff you hear at 3.08 was taken from the Glenn Miller Orchestra. If you substitute the guitars for big band jazz sound you can hear the swing.
The story I read many years ago. A group of guys kicked the hell out of Ozzy on his way home from the pub one night. This song is the response from Black Sabbath. “ Fairies wear boots!! “

Rock came from Blues..almost all the Early Rockers grew up listening and playing Blues.. Blues based Rock..Like Muddy Waters Said~ The Blues had a Baby...and they called it Rock n Roll~✌
Asa said, the song was written after a run in with Skinheads in London after doing a gig. The term Fairies is a derogatory name for someone, like the Americans call someone a Pussy. Skinheads was a subculture back in the 60/70's and their signature footwear were Doc Martin's high laced boots. Hence "Fairies wear Boots"
Perhaps a warning about overdoing it with the psychedelics. Some of the rumors about Black Sabbath and Ozzy are true like he actually did bite the head off a bat. "Children of the grave" highlights drummer Bill Ward on percussion. "Laguna Sunrise" is an instrumental and a lighter side different side of Black Sabbath. "Changes" highlights Ozzy's vocals with piano and mellotron backing

Children of the grave / newer stuff "God is dead" or "end of the beginning" - so many! ENJOYING this rabbit hole.
My faves (and I'm a Sabbath fan for decades) are Supernaut (a stunning one), Children of the Grave (their most iconic) and Symptoms of the universe (birth of thrash metal)
Ya bruh great reaction once again...loved it..wish I could go back to when I heard this song when I was 13....black sabbath..changed my life bud...you should react to after forever...supernaut...hand of doom..so.many more u will be pleasantly suprised cheers from Kansas city...
Sabbath = Legendary
