"An interface that fitted my mindset" - Six words summarising my whole experience and reason shooting those nice little x-cams for so many years now.... ;-) As always, you are the 'camera-whisperer' - So much fun seeing you talking about them...
Hi Palle. Great video on the X-T4! I received mine 2 weeks ago and still getting my head around it. However, I can now see the benefit of having the new function of switching from stills to video - I am a stills photographer, but now seeing how straight forward it is to use video on the X-T4, it has inspired me to try it out!
Hi Palle, I’ve just switched from a Sony A6600 to a used XT-4 and despite having watched what I thought was every possible UA-cam video it was only today I found this one. Really interesting and excellent video, you have a new subscriber. One thing that stood out to me was your message that we should do what suits us individually and after 5 years or so with photography I no longer concern myself with having to shoot in raw and editing endlessly. Thank you so much, I’m now going to watch the rest of your content.
I am now going to watch your other videos. This was so helpful and informative. I can read tech specs anywhere. What I can't usually find is someone's view on how a camera feels in use, why it might work in your photography life, why you might love it. Until this review. Thank you!
The finest camera review I have ever watched. I love your logic and style and your vision mirrors my own. I have owned, over the last 50 years, some fabulous equipment including using large format and every sensor size. Have come up through the Fuji XT range but had to buy this camera for the ibis (old shaky hands! ) Now I can go back to primes and of course for the battery + Classic Neg. But I found this the finest camera I have ever handled. The shutter is fantastic. The ergonomics for me are superb and the results of whatever magic they have done with the software are quite a jump from my X-T3. The flippy screen I can live with. Glue a 56mm f1.2 on the front and the balance is perfect. Then you Palle for your great work.
This video was beautiful! I really genuinely enjoyed this and I watch a lot of camera reviews. It was just very peaceful and calm. A good love letter to a camera you're so keenly into. I've got an x100V for fun and an xpro2 that I shoot my product for and have been on the fence about upgrading to do video for my new site I'm putting up and I think this has absolutely got me convinced. Thank you. I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of your channel.
Enjoying every second of this video (and the previous one as well). I switched recently to Fuji with the XT-4 and I completely agree with you. I love it, and totally aligned with my way to work as well. Like you, I still use analog gear for my mastering and mixing engineering purposes, though I'm computer fan too.. And this camera goes in the same direction for my needs and how I see photography and videography. I would love to know more about your tweaking that you use with the film simulations.. I really love your pictures (IG). Thank you for this lovely video! Cheers!
Excellent video. I have one on order. The main reason that I am upgrading from the XT2 is that ability to quickly switch back between stills and video. Thank you very much.
Palle, this video was so inspiring, honest and personal! Thank you so much. You helped me a lot. I am trying to decide between the X-Pro3 and the X-T4, I actually tend towards the X-Pro line - as I am more in stills. The only thing is the IBIS the X-Pro3 is missing. It would help my shaky old hands and my continuous nervousness to calm down. Thank you a lot and take care.
Wonderful video, Palle. I've just gone from Nikon dSLR to Fuji mirrorless with the X-T4 and have only had it 4 days! I'm a little (a lot?) frustrated so was looking around on UA-cam and found you and this video. Very helpful, thank you! All the best.
I have been watching a lot of videos about fuji XTs these couple weeks, coz I'm very keen to buying one. This is without a doubt the best review I have seen. You have captured what Fuji cameras are all about...Well done.
First time I've seen one of your reviews and it was excellent. Refreshing to get a perspective from someone who is actually a good photographer and has a long history with the medium. I have a XT-2 and will be adding a XT-4. These are the only cameras that retain the experience and ergonomics of the Nikon FM's I shot back in the day and that continuum makes using them a real pleasure. The fact that Fuji's optics are so good is a huge bonus. Thanks!
Fantastic review! Makes me even more proud I purchased an X-T4 3 weeks ago. After little time I can already tell it's a masterpiece of a hybrid camera.
Hi, after spending a long long time looking for information about this camera, I found your valuable video, in a very humble and honest way you have shown me everything I needed to know, thanks a lot Palle. By the way you have a new subscriber.
That video to stills mode is such a game changer. Unfortunately I do not own the XT-4 but really hope that from here on out more camera models will have this seamless flip switch between modes. Watched the video from start to end and loved every minute of it, a very balanced and thought through approach ^^
Thanks for the video man' I really enjoyed your refreshingly down to earth approach to reviewing the camera. I love my XT4, Its a soul machine. Greetings from the Sunshine Coast, Australia
You most likely helped Fuji sell the X-T4 to me! I was rather skeptical, but your review is so heart-felt, like you’re describing the camera from your heart, and I can see why you genuinely like this camera! Great review!!
omg. ive been on the fence for weeks on whether to buy the X-T4 or sony a7s and equivalents, but this guy just sold me. Damn, such a detailed and down to earth review!! now I gotta pick between the all black or the retro silver top.
Hey Palle, i have watched your video a few times now, i really enjoy your presentation. By far this is the best review on youtube for any camera. Honest, and true. Also you featured one of my favorite people out there: Chilli Klaus himself.. A big hot pepper fan here. Grow many of my own hottest reapers that i turn into sauce to give to people (I dont like haha). Anyways thanks for the amazing content.
I’ve been considering my options in replacing my om-d since Olympus sold off its photographic department. This video pretty much sealed the x-t4 for me. Subscribed!!! 👍🖖🙏✌️ (Edit) Thankful for the beautiful Danish countryside photos.
I enjoyed your review of this camera that I have been looking at for some time. My old Nikon D300 which is still a decent camera but has no video is getting old. What attracted me to the XT-3 and XT-4 was going back to the older style dials that were on my old film cameras, but withe added simple switch from still to video even though I am new to that aspect of photography. I want to shoot landscape, outdoor and night photography with it. I will probably rent one before I buy. Thanks for your soft spoken description, just subscribed.
Like the XT4, your ranting makes perfect sense. I'd always wanted to buy the Leica M9 for its colour output but the camera has long since been discontinued. Now I can see the Leica M9 colours at 8:51 with Fujifilm's colour simulations. I look forward to buying the XT4. Thank you for your Kaizen approach, for introducing new functionalties to older people like me.
It was great knowing the stills in your video were jpeg images rather than raw and that the camera is like a computer. A good way of understanding this complex camera.
This review was so genuine, your voice and the way you address you audience made me feel you were actually talking to me in person. Loved the interlude at 7:20 as well. I was in a dilemma between the XT-4 and a Sony A7iii, but now I am convinced.
@@zerospecs2331 I decided to invest on both the Sony and a Fuji, but not the XT-4 (got an X-T30 instead), do not regret it at all. The reason? The A7III has a lot of third party lens options (both brands and focal lengths), while the fuji not so much.. plus here where I live fuji prices are inflated. Besides lens options I thought it was a better idea because it was full-frame... however, in practice, I have observed much less noise on the fuji at high ISOs, HOWEVER the Sony still blows my mind whenever I want to recover shadows. If you want a PRO hybrid camera I'd prefer the Sony, although I have to admit, shooting with the Fuji is a more enjoyable experience because it feels like an actual camera and not a machine that takes photographs and video. Don't get me wrong, I love both cameras, but honestly I wish there were more less expensive full-frame cameras in the fujifilm lineup. I hope this won't make you more insecure about your decision 😅
I'm so glad I picked up the X T4 and it doesn't get bettern that the 16 55 f2.8 and the 90mm f2. I also have the 14mm, 23mm, 35mm f2s. Fujifilm is such a JOY to shoot with.
Belatedly… great video, great shots, great camera. As an XT2 owner and ex Sony A7R3 and Canon 5DSR I think it’s all the camera I will ever need. Well, unless Mr and Mrs. Lotto give me a GFX100 !
If I could push the "thumbs up" icon 10 times I would. Thank you for such a great run down on this camera. I never would have thought how easy it would be to go from stills, to video and keep separate settings preserved! Does the XH-1 have this capability? I love your JPEG vs. RAW shooting philosophy. Great picture and video examples! Thank you so very much from a fellow Apple/Fujifilm lover!
@Coo Koo X-T4 mainly has the IBIS over the X-T3, so for photography only I would have gone with the X-t3, if I still wanted to do a little video. If no video at all, I would have bought the Xpro-3
great video :) i'll rewatch your previous videos again but im wondering if you have tips about setting the right AF settings for video to have a smooth more natural focusing feel or maybe it comes down to the lens more? i think all thats left at least in the near future / right now is to update their lens for better AF mechanics.
The quality of the XT series is already great, but I don't think the film simulations are that important anymore since I use Capture One. There I can check my RAF files with the different simulations and lighten the shadows a bit or intensify a color. Great that you made separate videos for pictures and video, because I don't use the video functions and not everybody is a blogger.
Nice work and good insight. Appreciate if you could make more similar videos involving XT-4 functionality (to understand its hefty price tag) from both videographer and photographer's standpoint. Like your black and white photos; did you use Fujifilm's standard film simulation modes or were they achieved in post? Which lens did you use for the portrait of the man? (9.43) Spot on.👍
Very informative video. As far as the jpeg issue is concerned I may only agree on shortening of the post processing effort - if necessary. But first it is cumbersome to adjust such settings in the cameea with the small screen. It is also cumbersome to change settings on the fly. And even if there were a masking option it would be practically impossible to do it. But masking is important for very high dynamic scenes and when you want so accentuate or mitigate some areas. And last but not least ths jpeg quality of the image on the camera screen is very weak and the dimensions are to small to evaluate seriously.
19:00 That feeling of the mechanic shutter, it's one of the thing I miss from my DSLR. And it's very difficult with the X100 because of the leaf shutter. I need that feedback from the camera otherwise I hesitate too much.
This is a brilliant channel you've got here sir, I've subscribed. I have the X-T4 with the 18-55mm zoom and you've motivated me to grab the camera at 1AM and fiddle with the controls :) so far no one has managed to do that. May I ask what music did you use here - 7:28 - I'm a music nerd too, you see. Godspeed.
How are you liking your Fujifilm camera? Do you still own it? I can't seem to decide between the Canon R6 and Fujifilm xt4. I love the idea of switching to to Fujifilm from Canon (sl2/200d). Price, weight and the Awesome look! Though I don't want to be disappointed thinking I should have gone with the R6 instead of the xt4.. I mainly wonder the differences when printing big around 35-45cm
@@Elazarko Honestly the xt4 is the most fun i've ever had with a camera. Fuji colors are the best. The lens selection is fantastic and the body is weather resistant as well as lots of lenses. Hands down the best mirrorless crop sensor on the market.
@@farleycarl haven't made my mind yet. It's now actually between the Canon R6 and Sony A7 IV. I'm planning a trip to B&H Manhattan to try out the cameras in person.
@@Elazarko Cool! Enjoy the process. I already have a Sony A7II but I just couldn’t get on with it. I’m sure it’s just me as it’s an amazing piece of kit. For an upgrade I’ve decided to go for an X-T4. It arrives today… Good luck with your kit, whatever you choose 👍
It's great that jack black is doing camera reviews during lock down ;)
Lmao
Jack Black at home
Phenomenal. Came here to say the same!
LOL everyone’s thinking it.
He lost quite a bit of weight and acquired an European accent too.
I bought the X-T4 with the 16-55 f2.8 and I absolutely love this. Honestly every time I go out I fall in love with this camera all over again.
My favorite lens. It's on my camera all the time.
That combination of lens and camera is very strong. Har to think of anything that can beat it as an overall workhorse.
I wish I can buy this combo soon
Is that full frame mirrorless camera and lens?????
Positively the best take on a camera review I've ever watched. Nothing much more to say...

Watching his Videos for quite some time and like to come back just to have some good company...

@Coo Koo your getting 50% more surface area in the Nikon full frame sensor. Plus the sale price is a can’t miss. So Nikon all the way.
@Coo Koo enjoy my friend. And keep shooting.
Your color grading is amazing.
Thanks for the explanation for XT 4 Very enjoyable
What a refreshing take on a camera review.
Godspeed.
I wrote and recorded it myself. Thanks for your kindness.
Lovely video, thanks for sharing. Which camera works better for you - the X-T4 or the X-Pro3?
holy shit this is a brilliant review. My xt4 arrives tomorrow. Extremely excited. (leaving Canon after 15 years)
How are you liking your Fujifilm camera?
@@Elazarko did you choose Fujifilm in the end?
@@farleycarl haven't made my mind yet. It's now actually between the Canon R6 and Sony A7 IV. I'm planning a trip to B&H Manhattan to try out the cameras in person.
@@Elazarko Cool! Enjoy the process. I already have a Sony A7II but I just couldn’t get on with it. I’m sure it’s just me as it’s an amazing piece of kit. For an upgrade I’ve decided to go for an X-T4. It arrives today… Good luck with your kit, whatever you choose 👍
