Me: "I'm not doing Nanowrimo this year"
*kat uploads writing vlog*
"Welp, guess I'm doing it after all."
LOL but seriously. You inspire me so much!!! 🥰
yesssss muahaha GOOD LUCK W NANO!
Kats ability to draft so many books back to back makes me think she isn't human cause honestly wtf 😭😭
i mean if it makes you feel any better, the rough drafts are not very good XD
You're one of the only UA-camrs that I hit the like button for before even watching it bc I already know it's gonna be fabulous
Yesss I feel like I rarely see you post anymore! you were one of the first booktubers I watched for the first time. You Jesse and Christina. I miss all your videos😭
I agree with the cliche breakup "Darkest moment"! I do like the traditional "Will they-won't they" theme, but it's as tired as Romeo and Juliet, and sometimes I just want to read a slice-of-life romance with an established relationship, and the plot focusing on "this couple experiencing life/adventure together" and not a "two people meet and the biggest question is 'will they work?'" Sometimes people just work, and live happily ever after, but that doesn't mean life stops becoming interesting and challenging! I personally like to add in typical "couple spats" I've experience through my life and others, to get some drama for the romance (arguing lifestyles: from diets, home location, child rearing, etc.), and instead of letting this drama break them up, the actual plot (alien invasion, job lay offs, losing an auction on a house, finding out the pirate treasure was fake, etc. "outside forces") shake up the story than instead. It might feel like it's no longer a romance when said, but a couple weathering the storm of life together is just as important as assessing their compatibility, and is often times more fun and dramatic than the two calling it quits.
Currently, I'm writing a slow burn, and I do have a "break up" moment coming for the final act, it's mainly because the couple doesn't even get together in the first book (darkest moment is that the Heroine discovers the hero suddenly gets a girlfriend before she can make a move), but in the second book, where H&h romance does start, the darkest moment is not them breaking up, but them deciding what's the best way to raise their child (spoiler: hero wants to raise a... we'll say a "Cut-throat Boss", while the Heroine wants to raise a "Compassionate Leader"; it needs the context of my plot to make since! XD), and the Heroine's darkest moment is that she ignores her morals to follow the hero's sadistic rearing. The couple stays together the entire book, but the consequences of Heroine's compromise places their child (and the world) in danger, and is a big moment of regret for both Heroine and Hero.
I'm going for a mature story of Wife and Husband raising a child together, with fantasy and action plot driving the romance; I "will they-won't they" their get together, but their stable marriage is the romance of the book, and the main point I want to show my readers. I am following traditional romance arch with your 3 ACT 9 Block skeleton, but my first idea was to start with a married couple (which became book 2), but I also wanted to show how they got together (this being book 1), so book 1 ate up all the cliches (will they-won't they) for me as I scrambled together an idea; it just felt right for this story, but I don't typically write "breakup arch" romances.
I am writing my first book. I am 65% in. Your outlining videos were life savings! I plan to self publish next year. In my country you only get published if you do it yourself.
65%, that's exciting!
glad my videos helped! and good luck w writing and publishing! :)
YAASSS new Kat video! Killing those writing goals! Also if I may add a bit of shameless flattery, your hair in the segment starting around 6:32 looks *amazing*.
thank you!! :)
WEEKLY WRITING VLOG, TIME TO DROP EVERYTHING AND WATCH THE WEEKLY WRITING VLOG!
WOOO XD
I love that you're doing this again! I started writing a book in October too so this is the perfect boost I need to keep writing.
I'm writing a fantasy romance. I know exactly where I have to write the third act breakup but technically my characters aren't together yet when it happens, it just prolongs them getting together even further. I might change it, I don't know yet.
i mean the third act breakup happens often because it works! i def have other stories with a third act breakup XD they HURT but sometimes they're just right for the book!
Hell yeah! So on board for actual communication in books!
like, miscommunication can totally be done well, but i've encountered so many instances of TRULY FRUSTRATING miscommunication plots that make me want to throw the book against the wall so i'm trying to avoid that XD
I love your writing vlogs My wip just reached 100k! It started as a 2018 nano then I barely wrote anything in 2019-2020 and started getting daily words again last month in September. It feel so good! I plan to take a small break from it in nov for nano
thank you! and congrats on 100K, that's super exciting! :)
Loved it, thank you for always getting back on the horse.
so happy you are uploading weekly again :))
yay
IM READY FOR THIS YEAR'S NANOWRIMO ADVENTURES
So excited! I've been wanting a reward video for my writing time :D
woooo! good job with the writing! XD
@@Katytastic Thank you, your videos are down to earth and feel personal- something I greatly appreciate. I often find myself expecting more from my current capabilities as a writer and, while that can be helpful, it is more important to me that I adapt with the process. Your videos remind me that even if the plan doesn't go as intended, it doesn't mean that you haven't made progress.
@14:31: applause! applause! [I don't think UA-cam is sending me all of your content--I had to search this out; worth the extra effort, but come on, UA-cam!]
WEEKLY WRITING VLOG TIME!
I am still resisting tiktok I believe it is totally cursed also your vlogs and drafting pace motivate me to get back to writing
tiktok is definitely cursed and i am totally addicted XD good luck getting back into writing! you can do it! :)
@@Katytastic
yess! You're a strong one. I have had to deinstall it (like instagram) and only access on the PC for very short amounts of time + the browser has no ads haha
good luck writing!
BROOO i love the fit on friday tho what??? :000
thaaaanks :)
i did actually clap at the 30k update ! this is riveting.
Cannot wait to see one of your drafts officially published one day
I'm debating working on two projects during NaNo.
I always thought I would write a romance, but instead I ended up with a light fantasy retelling & some romance in it. I’ll have to think of a new idea for a romance.
What software do you use to manage your word count? Great job on 20k... 25k... and you're probably close to done by this point in time !
Can I just say, you look great and pretty. That's all and have a good one!
-Bernardo Cisneros
Kat, we need these books. Now. 😭
WORKIN ON IT XD
Am I late to nanowrimo? I started yesterday and thought I was getting a head start 😅
you're definitely not late! nanowrimo technically starts on november 1st, i'm just doing my own early version in october XD
I haven’t finished the vid yet but GIRL NO YOU SHOULDNT HAVE GOTTEN TIK TOK IT TAKES OVER UR LIIIIIFFFEEE
i tried to resist but tiktok has me under its spell ahhhhh
I'm writing a long term relationship in my wip and I actually used to get discouraged by the "the book starts to suck once the main couple gets together" notion and I totally agree with you that there are other sources of tension in established relationships, thank you! I don't like cut to blacks, I like seeing couples being cute lmao.
yesss! this is one of the reasons fanfic exists! readers wanna see their fave ships being cute and happy together!
Some of my favorite shows have happy marriages. White Collar comes to mind first. But their relationship isn’t the main focus of the show.
So excited! I've been wanting a reward video for my writing time :D
I’m so happy the weekly writing vlogs are back!
yay!
My Inner Vampire & my Outer Vlogger: A Third Act Break-Up
(There are very, very few youtube videos I get as excited about as your weekly writing vlogs! And once again they return the moment I'm thinking about starting a writing project again as if Godsent!)
Your writing vlogs motivate me so much! Definitely one of my new weekly highlights
thank you, that's so lovely to hear! :)
You are so positive and happy. Thank you for giving yourself to us in your videos!
Can I read somewhere your books? xoxox
that’s actually how i’m writing my contemporary book as well. my characters darkest moment has nothing to do with his relationship but with his family. so it’s nice to hear another writer say they are doing something similar
I love your writing vlogs so much!! They always inspire me to get back to working on my own WIP haha
thank you! and good luck with your own wip :)
YepM I'm so motivated atm haha
Love getting new Kat content!!! I still sometimes watch your cooking vlogs lol total comfort watches for me
thank you! ahh, cooking with kat. what a magical time that was! i get so nostalgic for it sometimes XD
@@Katytastic 'twas a magical time indeed! If you ever feel like bringing it back I won't complain 😂
A Q T!!!!!! AND THE HAIR TOO!!! AND THE GLASSES!!!
ugh yes castle was definitely one example that came to mind XD and yeah, i'm learning a lot about tiktok i didn't expect, there's lots of people who use it vlog-style which is awesome! i'm trying to figure out how i want to use it. i'll come up with something XD
@@Katytastic indeed! I believe in you!
These vlogs make my Mondays so much better
Keep the writing vlogs coming Kat! I can already feel myself getting pumped to work on my WIP for nano because of these!
I should be writing... So I'm watching your writing vlogs 😆 ... On the plus side though, I have not yet succumbed to TikTok so ... I just have to turn off UA-cam? 🤣
if you learn how to turn off youtube, please share. this website has had me in a chokehold for like 14 years now XD
I would comment but I am unworthy
no one is unworthy! i appreciate all comments! :)
I missed your videos😭
Yeaaahhh TikTok is very addictive, especially the LGBT side of it. I try to get off after 15 mins though.
I hate the "will they, won't they" troupes. I will only invest in them for so long. Three strikes, and you're out. I'm done. I no longer invest in the "will they, won't they" couples on a lot of shows that use this troupe over and over and over and over. (I will be giving up on Max & Liz on Roswell, New Mexico very soon. The next breakup, and I'm done with them. They will no longer be a couple to me, and I will cease rooting for them to become a couple. They will just be friends with benefits.)
oof yeah it's SUPER frustrating when the "will they, won't they" is dragged out that long
where can I read this? and have you publishes any other books? :)
*applause* 🥰
Hi Katy! I love see and listen you! 😍
thank you! :)
👏 👏 👏
aaaa i love your sweatshirt!!!
thank you!
Every time I sit down to write Kat wants to upload. It's getting suspicious 👀
I'm o n tiktok but. I have to say I am almost never on it :D I don't know for some reason it has not catched me yet :D
lol you must have stronger will power than me XD
berries and creams, berries and creams
i'm guessing berries and cream was before my time, all i know is bones or no bones XD
I want to write so bad and work on this book idea ive had for years but my laptop has been broken for so long because my boyfriend and i dont have the money to fix it, its so hard for me to write on my phone and it just doesnt feel good and its just making me so sad
I prefer writing by hand, maybe that is something that could work for you, too. If not, I am sure you will get to a point where you can write your story :)
ugh i'm sorry, that's a frustrating situation! i hate writing on my phone too, but love writing in notebooks when i don't have my computer!
👏👏👏👏👏
