A Retelling of You and Me? I'm really looking forward to these writing vlogs and they keep me going working on my own stories. The new book sounds very interesting (no surprise with you writing it, Kat, but still worth the mention).
yooooo what a title!! Love that. If this aint what Kat's is, may I please have permission to write a story under that name? Sounds like a cute short fic or something
I literally just said, out loud, "Because Book is Book" at the exact same time you did. I'm pretty sure this is an Air Sign thing. That's the hill I'm dying on.
I love how you described your approach to adding characterization elements into your secondary characters. Understanding characters is so important to writing functional scenes. I often find my scenes hinging on developing characters.
I got so stressed a couple months back that I stopped writing and haven't picked it up since but your vlogs really helped me get excited about writing again.
kat i seriously seriously seriously love and appreciate your writing vlogs. they give a boost of creative energy and kick me into "ok i could be scrolling on twitter OR i could be WRITING" gear and it's what i need in my life right now😂 also can i say im so happy you mentioned anime in relation to your creative process because i feel like there's a lot of tropes and narrative techniques used in anime and manga that haven't made it over into western works, maybe because it can be hard to mimic without visuals? tho i would argue implementing that kind of structure (not the right word for it but alas) can really make your novel feel fresh and layered without being overwhelming if done with care. (can you tell i read and write a lot of fic lmao😂) anyway THANK U for all the Pro content lately and have a good week!
Hey Kat do you have any updates on your querying? I remember in you writing vlog at the beginning of the year, you said you were going to start looking for agents?
hey kat, do you have any books on writing that you highly recommend? xx (also i think i speak for everyone here when i say we are *thriving* from these weekly writing vlogs💞)
hmm "anatomy of a story" by john truby is amazing (though it is kind of an advanced craft book), for more introductory level i enjoyed donald maass' craft books, and not a book on craft but more inspirational/motivational i ADORE ray bradbury's "zen in the art of writing" and reread it at least once a year!
Yay for figuring out the timeline and seasons in your story! Drives me absolutely crazy when authors neglect to do this and everything gets all jumbled together-- like a YA book that begins at the start of school and then seemingly a week later it's Prom time.
Started watching (and absolutely marathoning) haikyuu last week because of your review, so I’m definitely appreciating the references :) love these updates!
hi kat!! I recently watched a video of you from years ago talking about all your completed book series, are you planning on posting an updated video to that soon? i would love some new series ideas to keep me going through quarantine.
It's so cool to hear your process!! You inspire me so much, and connecting anime to your characters is really interesting. I'd love to hear more about it! I just love your drive and honesty and still being proud of yourself. The found family aspect to your book and the gay romance makes me want to read it so badly lol. I enjoy it so much that you're inclusive in your writing and enthusiastic about it. Being represented is one of the best feelings in the world ❤️
What platform do you use to track your world count? It's super satisfying to watch the progress you've made, and can imagine it being super helpful. Great video, enjoyed watching.
These always inspire me to sit down and write. If you don't mind I'd like to share a little bit about my own work in progress... It's going to be an adult contemporary romance about a sapphic enemies to lovers office romance. I'm really excited for it, this is my first time writing an adult contemporary romance. :)
That sounds so freaking cool!! I would drop everything and read that in heartbeat ❤️ I love sapphic romance and enemies to lovers!! Can you really go wrong if it's gay? Anyways sounds super interesting, best of luck to you :)
AROYAM: A Road of Yarn and Measles...the story of a girl who goes to Michaels to buy her grandma more yarn for her hobby knitting but accidentally catches measles and starts a pandemic. Wait, no pandemics? Okay I guess. 😩
Wow, I've never been so early. It's so fun that we are basically writing together, although I just started my story and plan to hit 10k words, and the 7th is my deadline for the first 10k words. (each chapter is 2k words)
as soon as you said feb 7th i was like oh right before our birthday (twins) and then you actually said it’s because it’s right before your bday sjdhfhfhf
I can't not devote serious energy to de-coding the AROYAM acronym title. I will absolutely be overthinking this. Whilst a really popular speculation is "A ____ of ____ and ____", and "A ____ of You and Me" is even more popular, I don't think this is it. (For what it's worth, in this style, my best guess would be "A Recipe of You and Me"). You made it sound like you'd be surprised if we guessed, and this style of titling is both 1) Not commonly used for Rom-Coms but for Fantasy and 2) Fairly simple to deduce (at least half, if not five, of the words). I'm thinking it's going to be a sentence, and quite possibly a question. Something along the lines of "This Is How You Lose the Time War". I actually think the title could be even longer than six words if you aren't including determiner words like "the" in the acronym. But this also makes in infinitely more difficult to deduce. It also becomes difficult if characters names are in the title - which I also suspect - because the are so many names it could be. Because I think it could be a question title, I'm thinking first word could be "Are". Another two I'm floating around are "After" and "Asking". If any of the letters are names, maybe "Ramona" for R? Because of Rams?
A something of You And Me... romance? 🤔 Also don't stress about the initials containing yam lol - I once worked on a story whose name could be shortened to BoG 😂
I for one support Kat writing a book about an aromantic yam, it's what we've all been waiting to read for so long
LMAO XD
AROYAM: The Upcoming Novel About an Aromantic Yam.
nyt bestseller list HERE I COME!!!
AROYAM: A Rourt Of Yorns and Moses

@@blorbidorbi hahaha same!!
dang how did you know?!!?!?!
@@Katytastic I'm a genius what can I say😂
AROYAM sounds suspiciously like it has a "A dash Of dash And dash" type thing going on.

A Retelling of You and Me?
I'm really looking forward to these writing vlogs and they keep me going working on my own stories. The new book sounds very interesting (no surprise with you writing it, Kat, but still worth the mention).

o dear
“i can’t call book, /book/ because book is book, y’know!”
can i get that on a t-shirt?
Seriously 😂 if that ain't a mood and a half.
i love your haikyuu rant, bc even side characters are made memorable because of how well they fit into the animal theme of their team
I literally just said, out loud, "Because Book is Book" at the exact same time you did.
I'm pretty sure this is an Air Sign thing. That's the hill I'm dying on.

tbh i'm obsessed with the lights too, best $20 i ever spent XD
This vlog gave me an idea of how to flesh out my own side characters! This was sorely needed, so now I am off to write! 👓
AROYAM= A Revival of Yahtzee and Massachusetts
I got so stressed a couple months back that I stopped writing and haven't picked it up since but your vlogs really helped me get excited about writing again.
Yayyy writing vlog!!! After I watch, I always jump into my own writing!! Thanks for the motivation!

hi kat!! I recently watched a video of you from years ago talking about all your completed book series, are you planning on posting an updated video to that soon? i would love some new series ideas to keep me going through quarantine.

A Rose of Yellow and Mauve
A Rider of Youth and Mystery
A Ring of Youth and Murder
YES THE WRITING VLOGS ARE BACK!!
I'm so invested in this series!! hehe 'Yam' brought back so many cooking with Kat memories 😂🙌🏼
i lost it at the YAM. your cooking vlogs was the highlight of that summer for me.
You should totally do a video on crafting characters based on anime influence :D It's actually great and super helpful
i have plans to do just that! i feel like i've learned a lot from watching anime (or at least that's what i tell myself lol)
That reference to the yam oh my god I lost it that went back to classic cooking with kat days
Who has watched so many of kats writings vlogs you desperately want to buy and read them all!
Loved this! Great job on sticking to the grind!

Kat who do you get that stats of you blocks/parts in scrivener to pop up? love ya
Loving these vlogs!! I’m so curious about the title, but I’m sooo bad at naming things, I can’t even come up with a serious guess 😅

A Romance of Yearning and Mutualpining
AROYAM: A Romance of Young Amateur Musicians

AROYAM: A Realm of Youth and Magic

A row of yaks and monkeys
