As a South African that was active against apartheid in the 1980’s, I didn’t imagine what was around the corner….that we would be celebrating the release of political prisoners and the unbanning of the resistance movements. But it happened. Every time I feel despondent and hopeless about this, I remember my own direct experience. But the deaths and abuse experienced in Gaza is way way way way worse than anything imagined in South Africa. I just don’t know how we come back from this. 😢
