Oh man Leonard Nimoy's voice almost brought a tear to this old man's eye. I got the honor of meeting him once in the early 70's. He was appearing at a March of Dimes telethon and we had raised money and I turned it in to him on camera. It was pretty cool.
That's amazing! Not gonna lie, every time you go into a new region and his voice pops up out of no where, and does give me a moment of pause. Every time. I can't help but go back and watch that commercial the he and Zachary Quinto did every once in a while, it thaws and even warms my heart.
I ran a tabletop rpg game based heavily on Fringe and X-Files. Only after it concluded did I reveal that the much loved plot was heavily inspired by those shows. We immediately watched Fringe after that, putting our game on hold. New fans were born after that. Cheers.
I. Love. This! That's amazing!
@@SmeggCo it was really fun twisting the story of Fringe into something new. The party were made up of agents from different organizations and specialties. There was a Delta Force operative, an FBI agent and a CIA agent that specialized in cyber-ops. They were brought together to investigate the murder of a prominent professor at the University of Michigan. They were fooled into thinking a rival had done it until they found a hidden room in the professor’s house and discovered things no one had ever seen before. It went on from there. They discovered a plot by an alternate Earth to escape into another universe that wasn’t dying, invading if necessary. Too bad I never got to finish it lol
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 30:57 "You need to learn the power of "please"!" I love it!
Im wanting to get into this game as well watching and playing along
I've been playing this game off and on for the last 13 yrs and have no idea what i'm doing, game is so complicated...i have no friends that play it so it's difficult to get any in-game help.... i'm totally lost ...LOL but I love just cruising in my starship across the galaxy exploring....
I played it pretty hard for the first 4 or 5 years I think. Then it was really just here and there. This is the first real effort I've put into it in quite a while.
Try joining a fleet you'll find some helpful people in fleets I've been playing for a few years and just cruising about the galaxy farting my way through missions and sectors 😅
You can just play through the story and events if you want. Just follow in the chapter and episode order, and you're good.
@@BNuts That's pretty much how I plan on doing it I think. Plenty of stuff to get through that way.
Join the STO discord channel. Players will help you there
They redid the tutorial with Borg instead of Klingons so they could include Janeway, didn't they? Unfortunately since Aaron passed before then, Nog has zero reaction to the enemy being the Borg. The Borg originally came in later. That's where that Transwarp Gate came from, BTW. I guess they didn't merge the two versions of the tutorial properly.
it gives a good impression of what starting the game would be like. looks cool
Before lightspeed, all ships in the known universe could only reach heavyspeed 😏
Agony lives in us all…..
Im so sad he wasnt named megamind 😂
I love star trek online and have played the heck out of it.
Kahpla, point me to the blood whine
30:17 could you imagine being the Capt. right then. You run off to repel boarders, then go running past again cause you went the wrong way. Lol.
I can. Every. Day. Of. My. Life. 😂
I'm new here, love the video made me want to play sto for the first time 😊
Can't wait for episode 2! Hopefully we don't end up in the fire! 😅🤣
dang .. last time I played the starting quest it was still Klingons attacking!
Been a while since I had played STO, but whichever player and faction you start playing you always work with the same NPCs.
Idk what to say besides you got me back into Star Trek Online
You are my new favorite. I hope you enjoy!
@@SmeggCo my data saved on Star Trek online, I’m Lieutenant Commander. And I guess I named my ship U.S.S Dominion 😅
Love to join your fleet someday too
I loved Fringe! Great characters, great story!
All of this!
@@SmeggCo I remember trying to get so many people into the show and no one bit on it. I think the plot with all it's twists and turns deterred a lot of people. It was hard to follow at times.
Might even start playing the game after this intro.
48:42 yep he passed away....Aron Eisenberg (January 6, 1969 - September 21, 2019) was an American actor and podcaster known for his role as Nog on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Spot the Stormlight Archives reference at 1:50
I dont know why but i was suddenly inspired to create a kzinte character that flys the Federation shiop Paipan...
Is it just me or does the Ship's Engineer sound like Velma From the live-action Mystery Incorporated or something similar?
Honestly, It's been on the very tip of my frontal lobe. So familiar! You know what, at one point I thought she sounded like Kitty Foreman from That 70s Show even! It cracks me up.
Funny how you have 6k views but only 200 subs. Something's not right XD
Dropped a sub and a like anyways!
Thank you! Getting started is always hard, but every sub and like makes it a little bit easier! Thanks for being a rockstar!
From these videos: Your assigned to a Miranda class vessel. Which has limited amount of capabilities. And the player doesn’t have any right to choose what ship he/she/etc serves on. The tiers and fast ranking. Which are a couple of things on much larger list.
The story is wonderful. Should have been a lot later after the player character graduate from Starfleet Academy. But apparently that’s not how it turned out.
It's one of those things where the story has to give way a little bit to gameplay. Story-wise it would make sense to have a bit of a time jump, etc so a new grad doesn't get a ship on day two, but you want the player to get right in to it. Totally forgivable.
@@SmeggCohmm I agree. And alittle to the end of your comment. if the ppl who made STO. Should have made it so a time jump. Yup if they want the player to get right into it. Then time jump&etc.
When did they change out the Klingons for Borg? It's been a couple of years since I played.
full impulse is 3/4 light speed warp 1 is light speed
there is a first contact referance
when did they change the mission from being Attacked by the Klingons to being Attacked by the Borg?
So I'm NOT crazy!! I swore that the tutorial used to be against the Klingons, with a very different fate for the Captain. A cursory glance looks like it was remastered in 2022? I'm not sure if that's when it was completely changed over. It also looks like when they streamlined the missions to fit an actual timeline, some missions were taken out or shortened. I need to look a but more into this!
@@SmeggCo Yes it was at the beginning of 2022. When they were able to get Kate Mulgrew to come back and play Janeway it was a very big deal. As such the devs wanted to have her be front and center in the tutorial mission. They changed the tutorial mission because the Borg just make a lot more sense with Janeway then the Klingons. Having both Klingons and Borg in the tutorial was always kind of weird anyways from a story perspective.
@@whodaman777 Kind of full circle; the original tutorial at launch was all Borg.
@@SmeggCoit was the borg lomg before that as well. I played it in 2013
They added in the drek from star wars: pecard? For a moment there I was interested in playing this game ones more.
The first reason I stopped played it was they did not bother with making ground missions secure. You would drop through the map and have to try again. Over and over.
Pre-ordered WHEN?! 2010!!!????
Yuuuuuuup. 2009 I think maybe, and it released in 2010? Something like that. It was a long...long time ago!
🖖
I wonder if anyone tried making a Star Wars alien. I'd attempt a Namekian from Dragon Ball
Absolutely guaranteed!
you mean 25th century not 24th century
Worst part of Star Trek online (not counting wooden, ugly character models and dull colours) is the fact that Tutorial is best part of it. There is crew voice speaking, some real tense, something's happen, you feel like you are into something big...and then...all it gone, no one cares about playing, about feeling like you are in Star Trek World, go, shoot, end TFO set Admirality and close the game, back tomorrow to set new admirality, make endeavours and bbs...:(
Hey, you leaving out, the 'whiney' color commentary, 'ala' "TBBT", would definitely be a major step in a better direction.
13 years and openin first few hours are lame and buggy, I quit after a few hours lmao
You talk too much
lol. Great, my ex-wife made an account.
1 if want to be a defensive toon it would be human eng
2 that race you choose it science or tactic
3 eng can be offensive even on ground
