AGE OF WATER - A Promising (if Unpolished) MMO | Early Access Review
Вставка

- Between Sea of Thieves, Raft, Dave the Diver, Dredge, and (to a much lesser extent) Skull and Bones, it would seem gaming has entered an... an "Age of Water," if you will. And if you won’t, tough nuts, because on April 25th, action/adventure MMO Age of Water will release into Early Access in a fun if often frustrating state.
As always, I hope you enjoy this short, spoiler-free review :)

Great work. Good luck with the channel. You do a fantastic job, entertaining and informative with your own flavor
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate the support :)
If you can’t get out of the boat and move around it’s a NO. Sea Of Thieves knew this, why does no one else?
Ngl bad take
Deferent games going for deferent things sea of thieves is on top though still

great video, to the point and I like your score breakdown infographic at the end
Thank you very much! Glad you like the format :)
Great early access review. I hadn't heard of Age of Water till now.
Thank you! I, too, hadn't heard anything about it until recently, which isn't a great sign for an MMO launch.
RipperJack from season 2 of Tiger King here. Great video, and you got a new sub
Many thanks, Ripper Jack! Welcome to the channel :)
Like the scoring system at the end, but would be curious if you did another review post launch, how your scoring system would change.
That's a great question, and one I intend to answer when the game gets closer to 1.0 :)
@@MEGAthemicro the game was released a week ago.
I realized the game wasn't for me fairly quickly, so I clicked the like to support the channel. How long do you have to watch for it to count as a view?
Thanks for the like, Doc! To my knowledge, UA-cam has never explicitly confirmed what does/doesn't count as a view. Around 30 seconds is the internet's best guess :)
I think it has been confirmed thats its 30 seconds plus
Does anyone know when this game will end being Early Access, and become a "full game"? Does it gonna lower it's Steam price?
It'll stay in EA for at least a year and will probably get a price bump around 1.0.
It’s gona go up before it goes down, so unless it gets a sale fairly soon don’t wait to long or its price will go up as more content is added
the moment you said it was a gaijin game, done, out, finished, never be thought of again.
Devs have said only cosmetic items will be available to buy
And no pay to win items
Although there are 3 versions of the game on ps store (normal , silver & gold)
Games gonna be dope been waiting
I hope you enjoy it!
How many people were even allowed to play that your saying it's empty?
Hard to say. I got a review copy and was presumably in a pre-launch server with other content creators. But the devs have also said that they want the ocean to feel massive, so you won't be running into players constantly even when the servers fully open.
@@MEGAthemicro main area is full of ppl. U have to get pretty far out if u want to be alone
seen this game on a radar before it got released
but knowing crossout and that publisher gaijin i thought twice before going cause they make the game less fun in the long run
True! I have a little more hope for Age of Water because it apparently won't be free-to-play and therefore (hopefully) less likely to get monetized to death. But we'll see...
Worth for coop only?
I could see Age of Water being great fun with a friend or three. Still no price announcement, though.
WATER WORLD BASICALLY
It's honestly an almost exact replica of Waterworld, right down to the minor plot points lol.
Bro it's literally crossout on water, the building ui and even the pins literally look the exact same
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Gaijin (same publisher) lent the dev some of the same assets.
Could have been really interesting if your friends could join your crew more like sea of thieves
What actualy happens? Cus it mentioned co-op, is it like a fleet insted of a ship crew?
Yep, that's exactly what it is.
I personally dig the story 😊
Hey, I've seen much, MUCH worse stories in games before 😁
Then you don't know actually good stories
@@kingamer93 I've read more books than you would in three lifetimes.
Greatest 30 dollar game ive purchased for xbox. Its like rust/crossout but its on water.
Crossout but boats?
Pretty much!
I feel like this game is a 50/50 of like it or hate it
I want to try it but I don’t want to drop 40 dollars on a game Canadain where not only there is microtransaction but buff the make you stronger.
If it was just ship skin things I be fine with that and all for it but I’ve played crossout and warthunder and as fun as they are you get those paid players…eh the fun leaves quickly
To clarify, there is no current means of spending real-world money on Age of Water's in-game shop. Instead, it's a huge grind to unlock the things you need to keep the boat afloat (literally and figuratively). The fear, however, is that Gaijin will eventually over-monetize this game as it has with other titles.
@@MEGAthemicro alright that’s good and dandy I’m fine with a game that if you wanna get stronger grind I love games like that but hoping they can fix other things he I’ve seen
The price is a little bit unacceptable.
Agreed, it's on the very uppermost end of the reasonable spectrum. $20 sounds like a fair price to me.
Gaijin isn't bad about pay to win at all, they are horrible about monetizing as much as humanly possible outside of P2W, however. Not sure what to think about this game, will look at it as it develops I guess. Been playing War Thunder for many years, played some Crossout, and a little Enlisted. Gaijn is annoying, but generally puts out decent games.
Given Gaijin's track record, microtransactions will probably worm their way into Age of Water throughout the year with the whole thing going F2P not long thereafter. However, in its current state, things are more or less fine.
Damn, that UI is butt ugly. It's got that default Unity font look.
It's weird, because the rest of the game looks pretty nice. Not great, mind you, but leagues better than the flat UI elements they're currently running.
ARRRRRRRR!
AAAAAAARRRRRRGH matey! :D

Reviewing an mmo alone before its out is kinda weird
Agreed. I've received MMO pre-release keys in the past and seen many more folks online. Here, I guess only a handful of content creators (myself included) took the publisher up on the offer.
Pretty sure it will became f2p with p2w model in the furure..
So no, i will not pay for that
Well u can always hope...

Age of water? More like age of meh games. 😂😅😐
True, I haven't reviewed anything I can recommend without hesitation since The Thaumaturge. Hopefully better games are ahead!
garbage
3.08? Ok dude. Thats silly af just give it a 3 idk whats with yall really dumb ass point scoring systems
Crying about a score? Okay dude. That's silly af take away whats with yall really dumb ass response pointing this out
All I took from this is that you watched to the end, so thanks for that :D
Another trash game with no boarding or actually walk and venture out of your boat
Was going to get this but the micro transactions put me off
To clarify, right now there's only an in-game store that uses a currency you earn while playing the game, not real money. No true microtransactions (at least, not yet).
You had me until the "pay-to-play" section. :( Nice video. Thanks.
You're welcome! To clarify, the game doesn't have real $ microtransactions at this time, just an in-game currency you earn through playing the game. That said, it's easy to envision this feature getting exploited in the future (especially considering the publisher's history). So proceed with caution is all I'm saying :)
@@MEGAthemicro Really 'nice looking game.' I guess time will tell. Thanks again.
You just don’t know how to play fool 😂
Hey, I never said I was GOOD at the game 😅
