I honestly think that the Morag Tong is more interesting than the dark brotherhood. The Morag Tong is a guild of assassins protected by law, and they prevent the great houses from attacking each other or having rival members killed wantonly.
More weirdly in Oblivion and Morrowind lore; the Dark Brotherhood was a SANTIONED local sect of the Commage 230 years before the Blight Storms and 2nd creation of a Dagoth General, Dagoth Lulian or Uurmumu. Latter is not found in game but has a brief story in the ES card game.
yeah, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I strongly prefer the Morag Tong. I found the Dark Brotherhood's weird "evil assassin" cosplay to be annoying. I prefer "culturally sanctioned, religiously enshrined assassin", it's much more interesting.
I very much like your in-character, first person narration. It lends every video a pleasant and immersive vibe, and I feel like I'm in Tamriel hearing a tale retold by a retired adventurer.
@ABardsBallad It definitely works for me and my wife, so as long as you keep true to your style. we'll be watching. But don't forget that the most important subscriber to your channel is yourself!
It's cool how some quests intersect one another. Like Caracelmo was also responsible for killing an imperial cult member who you're sent to find and get some scrolls off of.
I want to watch this but im playing through Morrowind right now and dont want to be spoiled if i decide to do this questline. So saving this vid for a other day.
your videos are perfect for some relaxing vibes. they really further my understanding of the game and sometimes i even watch them while im playing MW 😂 love the vids bro!
I like to think the nightmother we kill in Morrowind is who the mythological figure we meet in Oblivion and Skyrim is based on. But, it’s more likely an inconsistency in a setting that has a lore based name for its inconsistency (dragon breaks)
I'm almost certain the Night Mother thing was a retcon. Although Eno himself calls the daedra Mephala by that title too, so it definitely has more than one meaning. I like to pretend that the Night Mother of Skyrim and Oblivion is the body of that very same Severa Magia, animated by the power of Sithis.
I commented before reading your comment. Just to clarify, the theory I now believe is that the Night Mother and Sithis simply are guises assumed by Mephala.
The Nightmother is a living woman in the first games as well so maybe something happened for her to be the corpse later on, or it's a special woman so outsiders don't know it is actually a corpse so they stop looking after they think they're right
Well done glad you did this on them. There's history here that was last in the following games and it needed to be told. They have integrity and have legal rights...nothing shady. Thanks again😉👍!!
My theory is that each instance of the games when being played are all during dragon breaks, the dragon breaks are a fun way too explain the difference between play styles of the community, and with the time between games it give a sense of the merge of the timelines as Bethesda takes the story and works from there adding some of the stuff the community came up with or expanding on a seemingly minor lore bit. But i believe the Morrowind night mother is chosen to become the corpse we know as the night mother. But due to morog tong's home ground advantage the dark brotherhood ritual was unable to be completed and the nerivarine kills her for the tong. Later the scraps remaining after of the dark brotherhood recover the corpse of the night mother and take a ship away from Morrowind landing on the mainland of tamriel and from there they start founding the association we know as the brotherhood today
I think the one thing holding Morrowind's questlines back is that they lack a lot of the twists and turns of the later games along with the spectacle. A lot of Morrowind feels oddly mundane despite the fact we're on a magical adventure in an alien land. I mean, the quests for House Telvanni are literally called "chores".
I found the Morag Tong by chance.. thought it was a cool hiden place. But i never progressed long.. because I found the quests boring at the time.. too much path finding 😂 thank you for the walkthrough Maybe the night mother was a persob until you kill her - then she is a corpse in Oblivion Also i kinda like that they have you murder essential characters.. gives you a "is this worth the cause" kinda effect. At least if you do it before beating the game😊
I’d love to cover ESO at some point! It will probably be a little while because like you said, Morrowind & Skyrim (+ I’d like to tryyyy and see if I can get ahold of the even older game 👀) but it’s in the cards for one day!
The dark brotherhood is a splinter group, and they were destroyed, and surviving members reformed what they believed and their ways. Oblivion and skyrim are years apart from morrowind, plenty of time for the DB to reform and change their tradition to be able to survive. I think theres a book of a supossed night mother that used to mark her kills by putting black and white stones in her victim's eyes, so its not the first time they have a living night mother, they are always changing
With the Night Mother thing I think that the Morrowind dark brotherhood is in fact a poser organisation. Basically the Tong meant the DB could never operate in morriwind but the Tong always had factions and politics internally. A faction within the Tong broke off and began doing their own thing. In order to gain legitimacy they called themselves the Dark Brotherhood and copied the ranks. Because they don’t have access to the actual night mother they simply used it as a rank (maybe by the woman who set the whole thing up) and that’s why the Dark Brotherhood we see in TES III is so different to the one we see in the later games. In reality though it’s probably just that they hadn’t worked out what they wanted the DB to be yet and is why it was also so different in Daggerfall
I honestly think that the Morag Tong is more interesting than the dark brotherhood. The Morag Tong is a guild of assassins protected by law, and they prevent the great houses from attacking each other or having rival members killed wantonly.
yeah and they are both siblings in lore crazy enough
The Tong definitely deserves more questlines surrounding them! I should play the ESO version some time!

Ayo I love wantons.

I’m glad to hear you like the video styles! I find it’s the best way for me to make these kinds of videos so a Win Win!
@ABardsBallad It definitely works for me and my wife, so as long as you keep true to your style. we'll be watching. But don't forget that the most important subscriber to your channel is yourself!
You always seem to upload right as I’m looking for something to settle down and watch. Thanks for that.
Haha that’s perfect! Hope you enjoyed this one!
Ththank you so much for covering Morrowind in the way that you have. 💜💜💜 I am loving the Oblivion series as well!
It's cool how some quests intersect one another. Like Caracelmo was also responsible for killing an imperial cult member who you're sent to find and get some scrolls off of.
Ahhh very interesting! I’m excited to get to see the other quest lines and how several NPCs get caught up in them!
Its a great winter day for a chill, stay-inside video like this. Thank you for all your hard work man. Highly enjoyed - as always 🤝
Absolutely! Weather outside is feeling a little too chilly! Hope you enjoyed this one my friend!
Meanwhile we peeps in the southern hemisphere: 🥵
I want to watch this but im playing through Morrowind right now and dont want to be spoiled if i decide to do this questline. So saving this vid for a other day.
No problem at all! Enjoy it for yourself and come back to compare our experiences! :)
your videos are perfect for some relaxing vibes. they really further my understanding of the game and sometimes i even watch them while im playing MW 😂 love the vids bro!
That’s what I love to hear! That’s so awesome! I really appreciate it my friend! :)
Now we are into the deep zones of Morrowind.. Great video!! 💎🌊
We are down the rabbit hole now my friend 🫡 I appreciate it! :)

That’s a really good way to think about it! Seems plausible too!

That’s a really cool way to look at it tbh! I like that!

@drake713 I should have been more clear in my comment; I specifically meant the voice of "Skyrim's" Night Mother.
Yus!!!! Legend been waiting for these!!!! Let's go!!!
Thanks for the content Bard!!
Well done glad you did this on them. There's history here that was last in the following games and it needed to be told. They have integrity and have legal rights...nothing shady. Thanks again😉👍!!
Well, son of a diddly. Caught this one early.
Glad to hear it!! Hope you enjoyed it!
Babe. BABE! Get the tea and blankets, Bard uploaded a new Morrowind video!
Haha you KNOW I love to hear it! Hope you enjoyed this one!
Oh! I’ve been wanting to know more about the Morag Tong!

my goat uploaded
I hope you enjoyed it my friend! :)
Love watching this videos!
I appreciate your continued support my friend!
Took me a minute to realise this is a fresh upload lol
Haven't done this questline in a long time. Been a while since i played morrowind
The only problem with this questline is that it can conflict with the main quest if you don't finish it first.
Yeah I realized that when I was doing it 😂 a lot of questlines got altered after I was finished lol
Today is a good day. Huzzah!
Huzzah!! Hope you enjoyed it!!
I found the Morag Tong by chance.. thought it was a cool hiden place. But i never progressed long.. because I found the quests boring at the time.. too much path finding 😂 thank you for the walkthrough

Tbh,i mistaken the morag tong leader for certain Indonesian youtuber (because they also have same first name)
😂 I’ll have to look up which UA-camr that is!
When you eventually get through the main games will you cover eso at some point; not many seem to talk about smaller stuff there but get it if no
I’d love to cover ESO at some point! It will probably be a little while because like you said, Morrowind & Skyrim (+ I’d like to tryyyy and see if I can get ahold of the even older game 👀) but it’s in the cards for one day!
@ fair enough
Yoy should do sheogoraths quest. It will be a massive power spike for your character
No mention of the black hands dagger?
I mentioned it! It’s there! As soon as Eno gave it to me!
awesome
Hope you enjoyed it!!

Far superior to the Dark Brotherhood.
The Dark Brotherhood still worships Mephala by the way, they just don't know it.
More morrowind 😁😁😁
It’s been a bit! But I’m trucking along with it! :)
You should check out oxhorns fallout content especially one and two. Very methodical
He can't handle being criticised by Rogue, Internet Men.

Oblivion did it better thanks to Emil
Its the only way to create custom skill spells if you dont have tribunal dlc.......
