Reading his book "my nine lives" you hear the other side of the story... He was not ready for this come back at all, his hand hurt as hell and was not cured. He had to give everything he had to play the concert because there were so many expectations and cancelling was not an option. What a man!
As his right hand played the first note, I found myself whispering "oh my god..." This is a truly beautiful performance... his sound touches the soul...
He played last night with his wife at my school, VCU, and held a masterclass for us piano majors this morning! He really is such a wonderful musician and person
wonderful! leon fleisher is a phantastic pianist. my teacher told me that he was toghether with him a juror of rubinstein competition in telaviv. one of his student performend prokoffiev toccata faster and louder than anybody else (probably world record). that's why leon fleisher asked my professor: "Why does he hate his mother?"
...Lost for words, struggling to convey how the music lifted me to the heights and for a few moments thereafter. Absolutely intoxicating serenity. Gone to soon from us...
Ich habe mich in die Klaviermusik verliebt , nach dem ich meine Ziehtochter das erste mal spielen hörte !!!! Sie hat mein Herz geöffnet und erobert !!!!!
and . . . not to be forgotten : Gould in Bach (very original) , Scriabin at the piano himself , Horowitz with Rachmaninov live , Feuermann in Schubert , the duo Menuhin-Flesch , erotica-Schwarzkopf , Furtwängler nazi time , Dinu Lipatti everytime , the tight jeans of Lola Astanova , S.Richter in Schubert and Prokoviev , Rosa Tamarkina (I cry every time) , and last but not least : Joseph Hassid in his only 6 recordings of mini-pieces , and ARTUR SCHNABEL , the utterly ultimate pianist .
I don't understand why Leon Fleisher developed focal destonia, his playing is so sublime, solid, fluid and sensational. Fleisher is one of the greatest pianists of the 20th and 21st centuries. He doesn't look tense at all when he plays, his body looks so well coordinated and the arm motion seems so loose.
We never NEED your commentary whether in emotional praise or shallow troll...stop that and my corrections and relevant counters to your madness might disappear..
1) SEXY!! 2) Even if you are a Chopin scholar with multiple PhD's, don't pretend you know him personally enough to speak on his behalf. it's ridiculous. there are many traditions of performance practice and enough choices to make in the name of historical accuracy to satisfy every palate. Leon does not play to please you, specifically
Meher Babab ? ? ? ? !!! What is this f... ? Hahaha . . . ok . Be serious . YOU are Der Walter und ich bin -and I am- GA4N . OK . My real name is Anton . And you like Gieseking , Ferrier and Fricsay , and bloodgrss is a shithead , and Geert Dehoux is mad . Is that right ?
Even more nonsensical...your anger is rising...whining of a wounded musical illiterate. Ms. Lim records for EMI by the way-but accuracy and grounded truth isn't a concern of yours... It's amusing your allusions to animal and insect life...sort of fits your level of reasoning...

Rest In Peace Maestro Fleisher, your beautiful playing will be greatly missed

Great playing! One of the great pianists ever. One of the great musicians ever. And yet so human. He makes the piano sing, sob.
yes this performance is unusually affecting IMO
RIP, Maestro. Your music will live on forever!

I'm so glad that my piano professor studied with him!!
A stunning, magical performance! Bravo, Professor Fleisher!
I attended his Master Class today at Lincoln Center, just wonderful; a wonderful man and a brilliant musician. Thanks for this video
How much witt and sensibility and strength and courage and depth and soul you must have for doing such a miracle of Beauty? ❤
My God, that was beautiful.
Rip Leon such a life of talent, may you never be forgotten.
A true master, without a doubt.
Just attended a Fleischer masterclass. What an incredible artist, so down-to-earth and human.
Beautiful performance Thank you.
Vale Maestro Leon Fleisher, a truly superb artist and human being.
5:17 onwards is "the cigarette after" (Fleisher during a masterclass at Flensburg)
Absolutely majestic.
RIP, Maestro Fleisher.
beautiful!
Lovely. Mr. Fleisher is the brother in law of a dear friend of mine
Wonderful performance, especially he regained the use of his right hand.
thankyou for that so much, I adore him!
It was a privilege to hear his genius. Like Glenn Gould He had depth, Rare understanding. I loved him and shall miss him
Glen Gould's name should not be mentioned. Gould is no way in this man's class.
❤so beautifull and timeless♡
An interesting and very beautiful performance.
Geert Dehoux, pianist (Belgium).
Rest In Peace maestro.
Missing him 😔😔😔

Sie hat mein Herz geöffnet und erobert !!!!!
I love how "Cheesus" said "that's not what Chopin wanted," since I'm sure he so personally knows what Chopin precisely intended for this piece.
Magical.🥀
Sleep peacefully.
Superb
At the end we see him speaking to the great Roumanian conductor Sergui Comissiona.
就是不一樣! 十指指心的音樂,開啟人們對樂曲的理解。

Rip
Only Cziffra! The best!
Does anyone know who is the conductor he speaks to after he plays the nocturne?
I know his face but I can't think who he is
Sergiu Comissiona, romanian born conductor
Left hand heavy as hell... but still sounds good. So many misteries in piano playing and teaching...
I might be offended by this...if it made any sense... ;-)
Huh ???
What ???
That is his normal 'modus operandi'...he has been trolling and delusional LONG before you on YT....

never liked this condescending guy
Get lost, you utter waste of space. Go back to listening to the horrible Beethoven of Valentina Lisitsa and let us cultured listeners enjoy Fleisher.
