What a great video...you had me looking for the subscribe button when you fired your light into the empty softbox and feathered the light for use as a hairlight. Brilliant! Subscribed!
Complex topic made simple. Love the simplicity (I call it that but lots of experience has gone into it for sure!) of this and the way you’ve covered the details. Thank you.
One of the most helpful video I have seen on UA-cam. This guy really convinced me to purchase my first Sekonic light meter ever. I never used a light meter but now I know how important it is.
Nice work! You have the knowledge of how to modify the light which allows you to be creative, and your creativity shines in this video! Thanks for sharing this with us all👌
nice. can you please explain after 5min how you measure; I don't understand the measurement on face and the 1 stop lower for camera and contrast ... can you give numbers to better understand ?
Im guessing your talking about the shot with the softbox used behind the model. In fear of her hair blowing out, I am intentionally under exposing because I know I will have enough detail to fix in post. -Ab
A mix of the Elinchrom Rotalux 150 and the Elinchrome Light Motiv 190. The 190 is the larger version with no internal baffle. Trully love these light shapers.
The L-858D and L-47D (Series) can fire any strobe using PocketWizard, Elinchrom and Phottix Lights. We are also actively working on other brands as well.
Neither will any other lightmeter that I know of. I use a Sekonic L-358. It has a PC output on it. I also have a spare Yongnuo trigger that has a PC input on it. When I connect the two It works great. If your trigger doesn't have a PC input, you can get a hotshoe adapter that has one. Yes, this solution is a little cable-y. But, it works. Funny thing about the Yongnuo's...I bought a set maybe 10-12 years ago just to see if they worked. They were RF-602's. Although I have other triggers in my kit too, I still have and use those cheap little guys often.
She would love to here that, but these concepts would work with any face. The one setup laying on the mirror may be the only one I wouldn't recommend for everyone. It can be an unflattering or uncomfortable position for some.
2:55 Such a gentleman, taking care of the model.
Well thank you River.

Fantastic video. Love the instruction. Tried to download the lighting diagrams but says Page Not Found. Any way to get the diagrams? Thanks.
We've updated the links in the description. You should be able to download the diagrams now.
Oh this dope
Thank you.
Genius👍
Ab Here! Thank you Paul. More to come.
What fan did you use to blow the hair? Seems like a good one.
Kupo DF-500 DigiFan
I hope we can see it again as my link went bad here.
Working OK now
The video should be available for a reply and we are working on an edit of the Q&A that we had technical difficulties connecting tomorrow.

there is a error about downloading the lighting diagrams. can you fix it?
We are working on it. If you DM us your email on Instagram we will send to you. Thank you for watching it.
What size softbox is that?

and how did you get the flash to flash using the light meter

A sekonic won't work with my yongnuo triggers

Thank you for sharing your workaround for this. Very informative.
@@RickLincoln I dont want use cables they'll get in the way but thanks for the mention of the workaround.
We only have available transmitters for PocketWizard, Elinchrom, and Phottix. We are working on Godox as well.
You skipped one tiny detail: You need a stunningly beautiful model, like the one you had.

That’s a $600 light meter he is using, Sekonic Speedmaster
