Wow what an incredible looking remake and to see they got original VA to come back and record lines again? That's a feat for sure that deserves praise!
The voice acting in the original was hilarious. My friends and I used to listen to them on the horrible dubs website and would roll with laughter. So amazingly terrible.
I have very fond memories of the original, so it's nice to see that a lot of care went into this remake! A rotatable camera is something I was really hoping would be included, and I love the aesthetic of the game. It's my most anticipated game for the rest of the year!
They fixed casters! These link-attacks and symbology not feezing combat will change a lot. On top of breaking being a key damage factor. In the PSX version, symbology was weak took up tons of time, and even many skills eventually become weaker compared to spamming fast regular attacks on melee fighters. This remake is going to completely revamp all aspects of the combat and hopefully it's way more balanced now. I wonder if Opera still has her massively strong healing missiles
I felt the same way about Symbology in the original. I loved the designs of all the caster characters, but it was so hard to justify bringing the likes of Leon, Celine, or Noel along due to how much they'd slow down combat. I even tried a playthrough once where I disabled all of Celine's spells except for Firebolt and Thunderbolt since those don't pause combat. I wanted to see if the AI getting proficiency up to 999 would make them halfway decent, but it was a wasted effort. It's just so much easier and more satisfying to spam "Tear into pieces!" and similar melee moves ad nauseum even though that's exactly what every other player does. 😅
I never expect that the remake scale would be this massive and thorough! is it me or did I see Laeticia from SO6 appeared in summon support??? dang oh dang, this was my best and dearest in 1999, now it seems history repeat! ❤️
Don't worry bro, this time around gaming community has changed alot, I'm pretty sure a lot of streamers and reviewer would add significant amount of interest.., because it's gameplay loop is just unmatched.., simply amazing..

There is just a vocal majority who refuse to acknowledge the concept of a microcosm by going "hurrdurr, they were all inside a videogame the whole time so nothing in the series matters" even though the "creators" literally tell you the microcosm is sentient, independent and basically exists as a parallel to their own.
@@DracobyteYes I hate the ending! You were playing as a NPC inside an online video game, where you were able to enter the "real world" and went to fight the creator of that online video game to stop him from deleting the game itself. Everything else was great tho.

Love the remix of the KAMIKAZI theme at 3:14! Also the game looks pretty awesome! Love the off-field party members being able to help, and funny enough, I just discovered the Claude & Ashton Tea scene in my last playthrough only a few months ago

Square Enix back at it again blessing us with a demo. Wouldn't have even touched this game, but now I get to get a taste and see if it's worth a purchase.
So, do you think they kept those fake medals that let you level up yourself? Along with all the various item creation systems? Here's hoping this does well, BTW. I enjoyed 1-3 of this series...4 is okay(But that ending where they tell you to stick to your own kind is wonky), and 5 was...bad, like a lot bad. I haven't played 6 yet.
Combat seems slower in this one.. not a fan of running missions. I wonder if they changed stat growths, sp bugged Dias, and item creation formulas for the original items.
Combat seems slower? Are you blind? Symbology no longer pauses the entire fight. That alone means having a healer or spellcaster in your party won't drag all encounters to a halt constantly using faerie healing or southern cross etc etc
@@CC-df3pn Apparently you think having to break enemies to effectively kill them is somehow faster combat. Additionally for those interested in stat manipulation it's still a thing. I tested this both on the Switch and PS5.

For me, that is one of the biggest improvements ever, replacing random battles with optional/avoidable battles. 👍 My personal favorite turn based anime-RPGS are: Lunar SilverStarStrory, Grandia 2, Tales Of Symphonia, Chrono Trigger, Dragónquest 11, Nino Kuni, and Shining Force! Obviously, this one (Star Ocean 2) will be my next favorite since they are fixing the random battles! 🤩
