15 Minutes To Better Solos - Guitar Lesson - Melodic Soloing Tips and Tricks
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 жов 2024
- In this lesson we explore how to make your solos more melodic. We do this by learning how to find different chord shapes within our pentatonic scales. Once we can do this we will be able to have the confidence and skills to solo over almost any common chord progression. This lesson will show you a quick tip to finding major pentatonic position one, also how to find the chord progression chords within it. Good luck! Happy soloing! Thanks for watching!

This is the most useful lesson I've watched on UA-cam and I've watched a lot! Thank you brother!
Awesome! Glad to help!
I agree
I agree, its so good
Totally agree.
BEST video I've seen. Not only how to do it but what and why!! Now I can play chords with scale tones thrown in and scales with chord tones! Just add the minor third, F#m, in the Am form, and you have I, iim, IV, V, ivm and the pentatonic scale all in one place. Now to add other positions and more chords. You opened up a whole new dimension for me. Thank you.
Awesome man! Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
love your teaching, your positive energy and your laugh :)
Thanks! Thanks for checking out the vids!
Your teaching style is soooooo simple to understand, yet, AWESOMELY BRILLIANT! Thanks Brett!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked it!
I've been playing for over 20 years just for fun. What you just showed me proves that I'm dong the right thing. Good lesson. Thanks.
Awesome man! That is the point, having fun is what it's all about!
I have said it before, the best conceptual guitar instructor on YT. Not a compliment, just an observation.
I finally understand the point of the CAGED system. So simple. Yet in every CAGED tutorial I have watched there was never enough practical application for it to be useful to me(despite watching entire series on the topic). Yet in this video, which didn't even focus on teaching the system, there was. That says a lot, even though it was the second time I watched it.
Many thanks, you are a great teacher...that was a compliment. ;-)
Thanks! Glad it helped you out! Thanks for watching!
22 years of playing and full time guitarist/bassist here. Mad props and love the lesson. I hate that i just 'noodle' in the right pentatonic or mode but have been ignoring the actual chord tones for my target notes over each chord. cheers sir! sharing this for my musician buddies
Awesome sir! Glad it helped you out! Thanks so much for sharing it!
certainly one of the best instructors on the internet! Also the most fun, melodic pentatonic guitarist i've seen.
One of the better lessons I have seen on UA-cam. Really made me understand what I needed to do to improvise! THANK YOU!
Awesome man! Thanks for checking it out!
For beginners the licks are pretty advanced. Thumbs up for the good explanation on finding the different notes on all 5 positions of the pentatonic. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank ya!
self taught dudio here - ive had friends alot better then me and watched hours of YT tutorials to find this gem of someone just explaining the basic structure on how things work - no riff raff, no intimidating theory, and for gods sake no click bait IE actual help. It's unbelievable how many videos are this exact same thumbbnail but manage to literally say absolutely nothing in 15 minutes. You managed to cover the fundamentals of scale structure, key tones, triads, and do it coherently, no BS, as well as even kick start the viewers to start getting into the theory of it all. From myself, and the past two years of myself, thank you. Wish more videos were like this - teaching the whole concept via fundamental knowledge and technique with no BS :)
Thanks man! Glad you got something out of the video! Thanks for watching!
I wanted to say that I passed over your videos first time around, but I am so glad I came back to give them a second shot.
I am trying to teach myself guitar online, and I found that I really appreciate your teaching style. It makes learning a lot more interesting than other online lessons which I find can be really dry.
Thanks so much for your efforts.
You are welcome! Thanks for coming back to check it out!
I've watched a ton of your videos, this one has been instrumental in my progression. You're the man. I wish I could take a lesson in person.
If there is a better conceptual instructor on YT I haven't seen him. Great job.
Thanks! Glad you like the videos!
More than welcome. No one is more useful(to me) illustrating the concept of combining major/minor. You have a knack for it.
You put up a small amount of incredibly useful illustrations that allow me to work on the concepts for many hours off of a 10-20 minute lesson. That is substance.
I like the content, I like the approach and I like the presentation...beyond that though....;-)
Thanks again. You have no idea how useful your lessons have been to me.
Papastache, I have learned so much off you and Marty. Both of you are great teachers. Lessons like this and your Hendrix blues lessons have opened a lot of doors for me. Thankyou.
You are welcome :)
Dig ya the most you rock. Tips and techniques first rate.

Great lesson Brett, much easier to hit the chord tones if you visualize the chord shapes right under your fingers! Thanks again
You are welcome! Glad you liked it!

Wow thanks! Thanks for tuning in!
I like your videos. You are definitely in the upper echelon of youtube guitar instructors. You won me over when I saw you were the first person to nail the man in the box solo perfect. That was the first time I heard it sound "right" all the way through
Awesome man! Thanks for the sub and the kind words! Glad you like the videos! Thanks for watching!
Holy matrimony, I feel like around the 9:00 mark, my understanding of soloing improved like 10 fold. I understood the CAGED system somewhat but wow, this put things into perspective. I am soloing better instantly now. Cant thank you enough Brett!!
That is awesome! lad the video is helping! Thanks so much for checking it out!
I can watch you play 24 hours a day. That vibrato is the smoothest ever.
Thanks Mike! Glad you like the vibrato!
I am at the level where I understand enough so that what you teach is like light bulbs going off everywhere! I then proceed to get lost in my guitar for another 7 hours straight. My level of understanding and your teaching method is perfect match. Love your videos.
Sweet! Glad I could help out! Love to hear lightbulbs are going off, that's when the fun begins!
great lesson , and a funny guy.
Thx.
Thanks for checking it out!
I know it seems like a little detail, but pointing to your fretting finger with your right hand is a huge help in locating those notes! That avoids all the confusing chatter...' 3rd string 10th fret ring finger' BS.....thank you!
Sure thing! Thanks for checking out the vids!
PAPASTACHE, A million thanks for this great eye opening lesson, I love the way you break things down on the fretboard. thanks Brother

@@BrettPapa got a grip on finding the chords in the shapes and the position like that but how do you know what other notes you can play those chord shapes I know when you started in the E major you were playing the E major pentatonic and then when you went to the b, ... I'm just going to watch it again but when you go to those other shapes the D shaped chords especially how do you know what notes you can play around them? Thank you I hope it's not too late to ask on this particular video I know it's a few years old I'm just finding it now and just loving it , that's what I'm lacking, Melody , and that must be the last thing you find before you really take off, I've got to stop the constant noodling LOL

Thank you sir! Glad you liked it!
That was awesome! Thanks Papastache
Glad you liked it! You are welcome!
Some lovely lessons here! I'm trying to discipline myself to learn more theory and technique rather than just learning songs. Such tutorials on U-Tube have been a godsend to me as it has opened up many doors with my playing. Thank you!! oh, and if poss, can you do a tutorial of an improvisation of night bird flying?
Thanks! Great tune! You mean just how to jam with it?
Yep! It doesn't have to be exact, especially there are so many overdubs. Just the basics of it or just a jam similar to it. If you could do something with it, I'll love you forever.
I love you and your giggles
Haha! Thanks!
thanks a ton for this I have learned so much!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
